Besides religious freedom laws, other laws are being proposed that would restrict the freedoms and rights of LGBT individuals. Bills proposed in Nevada, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas could give business owners and individuals the right to opt out of or challenge current laws on the basis of religion. Alabama, Michigan, and Florida seek to prevent qualifying individuals from adopting if those individuals don’t hold the same religious beliefs as the adopting agency. There are even proposed transgender bills in Florida and Massachusetts that would criminalize transgender individuals from using the ”wrong” bathroom.

THE ANTI-GAY AGENDA LIGHT AND DARK. LEFT AND RIGHT. Up and down. The universe demands balance and opposites, and the same seems to apply when it comes to gay rights. We toil and struggle to be recognized as human beings who deserve human rights while some lawmakers never pass up on the chance to make us feel as though we’re a disease that needs to be controlled and quarantined. All across the globe, bills are being proposed and in some cases made into laws that restrict the rights and freedoms of the LGBT community. Just as we should be aware the actions that brought us to the present, we should also be aware of the actions that threaten to throw us into the past. O’Brian Gunn
I’m Just an Anti-LBGT Bill A new army of “religious freedom” bills has gathered arms and started to wage war on the rights of not just the LGBT community, but anyone else who might be considered “immoral.” From Indiana and Arkansas to Nevada and Alabama, states are using religion as a catalyst for business owners to have the right to refuse service to LGBT individuals, divorcees, interracial couples, and women. To be more specific, this year alone there have been 34 anti-LGBT bills drawn up across nine

states. While Indiana and Arkansas are the only two states to have such bills pass so far, there’s no telling how many more states will redouble their efforts. Recently, Louisiana introduced the HB707 religious freedom bill. Representative Mike Johnson initially proposed the bill in an effort to give business owners a measure of protection if they refuse to serve members of the LGBT community. Not only that, but the bill would also give proprietors the right to deny offering health benefits to the spouses of LGBT employees.

The Discrimination Felt ‘Round the World Compared to some international anti-LGBT laws, America’s might as well be polite. In Uganda, being gay is essentially a criminal act. President Yoweri Museveni signed a law that banned all acts of homosexuality and encouraged citizens to report anyone they suspected of being gay or engaging in homosexual behavior. If arrested, an individual could face life imprisonment. While the law was signed, it was later annulled because there weren’t enough members of Parliament present to vote on the law when it was initially passed. Since 1949, Syria has made homosexual activity illegal, and anyone imprisoned for such an activity could remain in captivity for as many as three years. Even if the suspected person wasn’t jailed, he or she could still be face an honor killing by his or her family if the shame of having a gay child was too much to bear. A bill in Kazakhstan that would ban “propagandizing non-traditional sexual orientation” was recently thrown out. While the bill passed in the senate and had yet to be signed into a law, the country’s constitutional council threw the bill out. Even without the bill, it’s still possible for Kazakhstan’s government to prohibit citizen rights to access and share certain types of information. Laws are supposed to be put in place to protect us, not reject us. With this recent slew of anti-LGBT bills and laws, one can’t help but wonder who those laws are really protecting and why one group is more worthy of protection than another.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS IN COLORADO Although more legal rights and protections are needed to give LGBT Coloradoans true equality, being aware of laws that exist right now can help you protect yourself and your family, and help you know what to bring to an attorney to find out what options or recourse you have. CIVIL UNIONS The most well-known benefit Colorado provided lesbian and gay couples is the ability to join in a civil union, passed into law in 2013. Unmarried individuals who are of age can form a civil union with a same-sex partner to gain access to the same state-level rights and benefits enjoyed by a married couple. ABILITY TO ADOPT Single LGBT people can adopt children in Colorado, and since 2007 Colorado makes it possible for a second parent in a same-sex relationship to legally adopt a partner’s child as co-parents. PUBLIC ACCOMODATIONS & HOUSING PROTECTIONS Colorado law prohibits open-to-the-public establishments such as stores or restaurants from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender expression, whether it is your real identity or what they perceive you to be. More than 2000 people gathered on the grounds of Dublin Castle to celebrate the momentous occasion, LGBT couples and allies celebrating together. Brightly colored t-shirts and flags waved proudly beneath a matching doublerainbow sky that spread over the capital city. Really. And it really meant something. More than 60 percent of eligible Irish voters turned out for Amendment 34, with 62 percent securing success for side yes, aided in part by a wave of Irish expats that returned to the Emerald Isle (#hometovote) to vote positive for this longawaited measure. The new amendment states that “marriage may be contracted in accordance with law by two persons without distinction as to their sex.” Dublin erupted in cheers and happy tears as the results were announced. Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny spoke to the crowd, praising the results and his compatriots.

ethos winding its way through Ireland’s green valleys and rocky coastlines. The Yes Campaign was backed by all major parties of the Irish government and heralded as a social revolution due to the movement’s wide-ranging support. From the young to old, the gay to straight, the student to the prime minister, the results have ushered Ireland into its place as a state of acceptance and progression. This is not to say the country has had an easy relationship with equality, due, in part, to the strong presence of Catholicism in Ireland. LGBT rights have long been underrepresented, homosexuality having been decriminalized in just 1993. In 2004, Irish Senator Katherine Zappone and her wife, Ann Louise Gilligan, began an arduous process to have their Vancouver nuptials recognized by their home country. Named for their initials, the KAL Case, (please, please, let this be carved into a cork tree

RAINBOWS OVER DUBLIN CONT. somewhere) was spurred by two women in love and started a decadeslong debate over the merits of same-sex relationships under Irish law. Katherine and Ann Louise’s case was first denied. The court referred to the Oxford English Dictionary’s definitions of “husband” and “wife” of the Irish constitution in an arbitrary and unfeeling point of semantics to discredit their union. The couple and their legal team appealed under their right to equality as the denial of such would be a breach of human rights. The case was sent to the High Court, though never making it to the courtroom. After 11 years of fighting the good fight in advocacy and awareness, their love has finally been recognized by their home. Katherine proposed once more to her partner on live television after a yes vote rang in loud and clear. “After all, there’s nothing like an Irish wedding,” she said, smiling. Raise a glass of fine Irish whiskey to that. The affirmative vote did not sit well with all, exposing rigid divisions in Irish mentalities and theologies of the traditionally Catholic state. The Vatican’s secretary of state, second only to the pope, denounced the amendment as a “defeat for humanity” in a statement made May 26. In this disappointing (though unsurprising) papal proclamation, it’s clear that the church would eat the Irish LGBT community’s right to equality alongside a bowl of shepherd’s pie and wash down it down with a cold pint of bigotry. More than 90 percent of eligible voters of Amendment 34 have been educated under the Catholic curriculum and have chosen inclusion, rather than exclusion for its LGBT community. It was the strength and sturdy soul of the Irish people that pushed forward a yes vote, despite the inflexibility of marriage that has long been enforced by the Catholic church. It’s interesting to note that a number of predominantly Catholic states have also approved same-sex marriage: France, Portugal, Argentina, and now Ireland, to name a few. There would seem to be a major conflict on this issue between the church and its followers, but that is another picnic basket to be unpacked at another time. For now, Amendment 34 is progress and the naysayers are not worth a second breath. As Oscar Wilde, himself a great Irishman, would say, “Forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.” As the first nation to accept same-sex marriage into their constitution by popular vote, this victory is a direct translation of new Irish values and not those instilled by the over-reaching arm of any theology or ruling body. This is a recognition of the many lovely facets that make up one’s identity outside of religious leanings and even sexuality. It’s a win for the greater whole, for the fair treatment of all. The yes vote comes from a people that have opened their hands to embrace the good things that humanity has to offer one another — connection, compassion, understanding, and acceptance. It’s a vote for love, which is essentially the most human thing one can do. In June, the US Supreme Court is expected to make a ruling for the marriage equality fate of this country. 36 states have legislation legalizing same sex marriage, but there is still much work to be done to ensure equal rights for all of our red, white, and blue citizens. Ireland has set a new precedent on the yellow brick road to tolerance and, therefore, wisdom. Hopefully the US will soon follow. The Emerald Isle has shown the world what it means to grow and the crowd at Dublin Castle showed us what love looks like, in all its beautiful colors. Writer’s Note: Dublin Pride Fest is June 19–28. It’s gonna be one hell of a party! 10

$20 HAPPY HOUR? HEAD NORTH LOOKING FOR A REASONABLE HAPPY hour to spend with friends and colleagues? Nor th Italia in the hear t of Cherr y Creek is the place to go. Janet Corniel
A mere Jackson gets you a bottle and board. A lovely house red or white and your choice of a chef’s board, pizza, or bruschetta are included in this fantastic price. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the selection on the chef’s board, which often includes olives, prosciutto, two cheeses, grilled asparagus, a sweet tangy apricot and sultana compote, and crusty bread. (The compote alone is worth it!) That being said, the pizza and bruschetta do not disappoint. The pizza is hand made, just like their pasta, so the crust is crispy and airy at the same time. North Italia takes a modern approach to traditional Italian cooking. Although it’s a chain with other locations, the restaurant in Cherry Creek is the only location in Colorado. The staff is warm and will make you feel like a welcomed guest. 12

North Italia’s decor is lovely and offers outdoor seating for al fresco dining. A large, distressed wooden bar allows you to watch a game or chat it up with those sitting next to you. The restaurant is laid out for guests to socialize and enjoy one another’s company. There are no seat restrictions during happy hour. You and your party can enjoy the specials no matter where you sit in the restaurant. It’s no wonder this Cherry Creek gem is enjoyed by regulars and locals. Everyone could use a great deal, but the best deals are those that make you feel like you’re not skimping on quality. For the cost of two “meal deals” at the local fast food joint, you and a friend can enjoy a lovely bottle of wine and a yummy taste of Italy, which is fantastic. The happy hour menu has other offerings, so you’ll be spoiled for choice. On Sundays, they offer half-price bottles

The only drawback is that WiFi is not available. However, who needs WiFi when you’re out with friends and colleagues? So, unplug and enjoy the company of friends — or meet new ones who really know how to choose a restaurant. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 3pm–6pm and all day on Sundays.

PRAYERS FOR BOBBY BRINGS THE PREACH HEADS UP: THIS COULD BE THE MOVIE THAT FINALLY TOUCHES YOUR RELIGIOUS FAMILY’S ANTI-LGBT HEARTS
WHEN CHRIS TAAFFE, DAVID PERMUT, and I set out to turn Leroy Aarons’ landmark book Prayers for Bobby into a motion picture, we never expected our journey would take us nearly 13 years to create the GLAAD- and PRISM Award-winning film, nor did we ever imagine it would continue several years later and lead us to the great halls of the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium.
Prayers for Bobby hits the nail right on the head. It’s a beautiful and sensitive instrument to reach people you never expected to reach, especially those who think their religion disapproves of LGBT people.
”
Daniel Sladek
Prayers for Bobby screened by invitation of the European Parliament to coincide with May 17’s International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. Let’s be honest: Europe is a place that’s known for its (mostly) religion-free policies and thusly, its LGBT-friendly attitudes. (Also: Congrats, Ireland!) Regardless, the quotes that came out of the screening made us think that some Americans should use the film to reach their religion-centric families and the anti-LGBT hardlines therein. Take a look: “Showing the film here at the European Parliament was a great opportunity to get both an emotional and an intellectual grip on the fact of how important it was that the World Health Organization twenty-five years ago abolished homosexuality as a mental illness,” EP Vice President Lunacek said. “Prayers for Bobby is an impressive film which conveys 16

THE AWKWARD COMEDY OF MANNERS The Overnight has Alex (Adam Scott) and Emily (Taylor Schilling) anxious about having to make new friends in Los Angeles, where they’ve recently moved. When their son RJ (RJ Hermes) befriends Max (Max Moritt) at the playground, Max’s father Kurt (Jason Schwartzman) invites RJ and his parents over for pizza with his wife Charlotte (Judith Godreche). The bond that starts to form between the adult couples quickly mirrors the easygoing friendship between the kids. However, after RJ and Max are put to bed, things become a bit more intense. Alcohol is consumed, bongs are shared, and clothes are shed. Then Alex reveals his concerns about inadequacy, and things get even more sexually explicit and intense.
So, let’s talk about penises. Why are they a source of awe and shame for the film’s adult male characters? I wanted the movie to be about [Alex] overcoming [inadequacy] and gaining self-acceptance. Brazil
Brazil’s Pride is held in the metropolis of Sao Paulo and went down in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2006 as the largest Pride event on the entire planet. In 2010, one million reais were spent on the Pride parade, which is the equivalent of ~$318,200. Their Pride is considered to be the best in the world, and it’s easy to see why with a parade that measures nearly three miles long. Brazil’s Pride parade also includes a special float for politicians, a reflection of the fact that Sao Paulo’s federal government and governor support their LGBT community. 20

One of the best things about Pride is that it has no boundaries. LGBT Pride is celebrated in several different ways and in several different countries. While you’re gearing up for Denver Pride, find out a few cool facts about Pride in France, England, Spain, and Brazil.
Spain
Held in beautiful Madrid, Spain’s orgullo, which is Spanish for “pride,” is one of the largest Pride events in the entire world. In fact, their Pride is so massive that it’s had to be moved back a week in order to let other local Pride events have a chance to succeed. Surprisingly, Spain’s Pride is actually the least gay event in the country. Instead, it’s a popular event for music lovers. Their Pride is also much more political than festive, even if there is a stiletto race.

USA
The recent years of Pride, celebrations in the US have seen a swell in sponsorship from such prominent companies as General Motors, American Express, Delta Air Lines, and Whole Foods Market. Our very own New York City has one of the largest Pride parades in the world in addition to one of the largest all-women dance parties in the country. When the Pride movement first started, the efforts were headed by transgender women of color and sex workers. Not only that, but our very first Pride parade was co-organized by a bisexual woman named Brenda Howard. So far, the only presidents to officially recognize Pride month are Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
England
As a way to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots, England held their initial Pride on the Saturday closest to the anniversary of the riots, which was July 1, 1972. The bells of the church of St Martin-in-the-Fields are rung the morning of Pride and while the parade is taking place. In 2012, the London LGBT + Community Pride received an official contract from the Greater London Authority that allowed them to organize Pride in London for the next five years. Any extra money the LGBT organization receives can only be given out as grants or reinvested into Pride in London events.
France
Know as “Marche des Fiertes LGBT de Paris,” France’s LGBT Pride parade has recently become more political and less festive. Just like with Sao Paulo, left-wing politicians have recently joined in the march to show solidarity and support for the LGBT community. If you really like to party, you’re sure to feel right at home with the seven-hour parade and festivities in the streets of Paris. If you’re staying at the Murano Urban Resort (also known as the 1K Hotel), you’ll be treated to a safe-sex tray, complete with an assortment of condoms.
Take your Pride overseas next year and check out what the LGBT community’s like in other parts of the world. No matter where you choose to celebrate, you’ll always be around family. 22

GET AROUND ROUND ROUND YOU GET AROUND LADIES, GENTLEMEN, GENTLE LADIES, AND men who
occasionally identify as ladies on Thursday nights, we have officially entered pre-Pride season! Don’t forget to make travel arrangements for getting to and from bars, the Pride parade, Civic Center Park, and any other rainbow-infused shenanigans you might be getting into. If you’ll be traveling to the Mile High City to get ya Pride on, knowing about cool options for getting around is an absolute must, lest your travel plans become a bust. O’Brian Gunn
Hey, Out Front: I don’t have tons of money for getting around Denver. Y’all got any suggestions? you check out one of 700 bikes at 85 stations scattered around the Denver area. The bike sharing service is great for shorter, local trips. Bear in mind that you can only check out a bike from 5am to midnight MDT, but you can return it at any time as long as you’re within your time limit. To check out a bike, you’ll need an access pass, which you can either buy online or at a kiosk.
Transit System FAQ How much does a bus or light rail trip cost? A one-way bus or light rail trip starts off at $2.25, if you’ll be traveling within one or two zones. Make sure you have exact change when riding the bus.
Taxi Alternatives
Car2Go
How do I transfer?
Lyft and Uber make for two fine alternatives to a standard taxi. Not only are they usually cheaper, but there are also larger vehicles available for bigger groups. Both 24-hour services allow you to estimate the total cost of your trip and split the fare, which helps keep withering glares at a minimum if you have friends who constantly “forget” their wallets.
Car2Go gets you where you need to go without having to wait for a taxi or driver. Download the app, find the Car2Go vehicle nearest you, swipe your membership card, and hop in. Pricing starts out at $.41 per minute and $15 per hour, and you don’t have to worry about paying extra fees.
Let the bus driver know your final destination and ask for a transfer slip. Be aware that a transfer is only valid for travel in the same direction and for three hours. A validated light rail ticket can be used for a transfer if you’re also traveling by bus.
When your trip is over, park in legal parking spots, at meters, and in spaces that allow parking for at least two hours. When you park, check nearby signs for street sweeping, illegal parking, and reserved parking. Also, you’ll want to sign up for Car2Go at least a week before your first ride, which is how long it usually takes to receive your membership card.
What if I need help?
One thing to keep in mind with both services is that fares go up between busy hours, which can sometimes be difficult to predict. If you know someone who uses either service, have them send you an invitation with a discounted ride offer. One tip with your discounted offer: Wait to use it during busy hours since you have to use the entire discount the first time. Portion control is for dieting, not Lyft-ing and Uber-ing. 24

It’s best that you plan your trip through RTD’s mobile site before you hop on a bus or light rail. You can see when your bus or light rail arrives, how long your trip lasts, where to get off, and the direction you’ll be traveling in. Arrive early in case the bus or light rail does the same.

THE FLAVORS OF PRIDE THE OVERALL REASON FOR THE Pride season is to cel-
ebrate sexuality and commemorate the Stonewall riots of ’69, but the occasion can be even more special and unforgettable if you celebrate your individuality. Just like there are several different colors on the rainbow f lag, there are also several different reasons and ways for you to show pride in yourself and who you are as a member of the LGBT community. O’Brian Gunn
Goin’ Against the Gay-rain There are so many stereotypes about what it is to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender that we ourselves have bought into certain expectations and categorizations. Dare to be a bear, twink, furry, pup, or gaymer who’s more than just a member of an LGBT sub community. Take pride in what you’re passionate about, your ambitions, your quirks, and your self and let that radiate from the inside out. Show the LGBT community and everyone else that you’re more than a label, because you are.
Brave the Way Unfortunately, not everywhere is as safe and open-minded as Denver when it comes to being gay. Some small towns, Southern states, and international countries have yet to embrace LGBT citizens, which often forces those folks to celebrate their pride in less overt ways, in secret, or not at all. We musn’t forget those who are fighting for LGBT progression, recognition, 26

and equal rights in areas of the country and the world where homosexuality is considered a sin, punishable by death, or a criminal act. Even those who are simply living each day as it comes while being authentic and unashamed of who they are have something to be proud of. Take pride in who you are, no matter where you are.
Don’t Refute It, Transmute It Pedophiles. Demons. Sinners. Disgusting. Faggot. Dyke. Tranny. There’s no end to the derogatory and harmful names we’ve been called or the number of derogatory and harmful things that have been said about us. Rather than lowering ourselves by firing back with equal rancor at those who would call us everything but children of God, we can take pride in the fact that there are members and supporters of the LGBT community who use those words and misconceptions as fuel to change and challenge minds and hearts one at a time. What could be better than taking someone else’s hate and using

it to bring about peace and understanding? Sometimes the best revenge isn’t looking good, but instead doing good.
Show Us & Them Your Color As you gather with the rest of the LGBT community and supporters this Pride season, don’t forget that you’re an LGBT individual. Remember that a song needs several different and unique voices and sounds to be truly great and timeless. Be inspired by those who came before you, no matter what community they may be or were part of, but don’t forget to use your own voice, write your own story, and compose your own music. Add a new color to the palette, bring something fresh to the table, and find your own cause to take up.
As you’re packing and getting ready for the Pride, remember to bring your heart and soul. And even more importantly, don’t forget to wave them high and proud for everyone to see.

YOUR 2015 GUIDE TO PRIDE SAFETY PRIDE IS ALL ABOUT GOING out and having a gay ol’ time with your fellow brothers and sisters in rainbow-laced arms. Unfor tunately, not ever yone has noble intentions or your best interest in mind, which is why it’s essential that you remember to be safe while enjoying yourself and celebrating another year of LGBT pride. Remember, an ounce of prevention is wor th a pound of insurance claims and regrets. O’Brian Gunn
Safety, Like Charity, Begins at Home Right now you might be the perfect personification of jubilation and exaltation, but refrain from posting specific details of your upcoming Pride-related travel plans on social media. While you may know and trust everyone on your friends list, there’s no telling who can access your status updates, tweets, tumbles, flapjack chats, and whatever else is out there. You don’t want to return home to discover you’ve been the victim of a break-in because you practically left a neon sign on the roof informing burglars of when you plan on being away from home.
Fun in the Burning Hot Sun Don’t forget to pack quality sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a wide-brimmed hat worthy of the Kentucky Derby. Denver is the mile-high land of plentiful sunshine, but all that sunshine can 28

quickly damage your skin if you aren’t careful. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and limit the amount of caffeine and alcohol you consume during the day since both can leach water from your system. Kick back in the shade, wear light-colored clothes to reflect UV rays, and opt for breathable cotton fabrics rather than synthetics.
“Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby” During Pride, the LGBT population shifts from a minority to a majority, making it easier than ever to find people to have Sunday morning brunch with. When you head out to the bars and clubs, make sure you have the three Cs: cash, ChapStick, and condoms (even if you’re currently on PrEP). Even if you don’t plan on hooking up, you never know how loose the Grey Goose might make you feel, and one of your friends might be in need of a little protection.

No matter how embarrassed you might feel, tell someone you know and trust where you’re going when the flames of passion are about to erupt from your loins and the loins of that guy or girl who drops the bass on your heart. Not to be a pessimist, but it’s also a good idea to leave your valuables and debit or credit card behind if you’re heading over to a beautiful stranger’s home or hotel room. Finally, trust your instincts and go with your gut. If something doesn’t feel right, extricate yourself from the situation. Immediately.
Money Matters While you’re packing, only bring as much money as you’ll need and maybe a little more for emergencies. Before you leave your hotel room or home for the day, make sure you only carry what you’ll absolutely need and consider locking your valuables up in a safe or hiding them. It’s best that you only use ATMs near banks and airports to lessen your chances of using a fake ATM. Be sure to look over your bank and credit card statements for bogus charges once you return home. Don’t let your celebration dissolve into a nightmare this Pride season. A few preventative measures can protect your home, your health, and your finances. Not only can you take pride in your sexuality, you can also take pride in your street smarts and forward thinking.

NEW YORK
BALTIMORE
Destination: New York Pride When: June 26–June 28
Destination: Baltimore, Maryland Pride When: July 25–July 26
Of course, the LGBT revolution all started here at Manhattan’s Stonewall Inn in 1969. The Big Apple’s pride celebration is like no other. The week-long festivities kick off Tuesday, June 23, with Family Night, but June 28 is the main event with one of the world’s largest LGBT pride marches. The main post-march events are PrideFest, a huge street fair held on Hudson Street, and the famous Dance on the Pier, which typically draws surprise superstars. This year, Ariana Grande takes the main stage.
Show Baltimore some love this summer (it sure could use it) by visiting Charm City’s annual Pride weekend — one of the oldest around at 40 years — which features myriad events, like a high-heel race through the Mount Vernon gayborhood; an all-day block party featuring performances by Martha Wash, Cazwell, and TS Madison; and one last after-party at Baltimore gay nightlife staple, Club Hippo, which will close its doors for good this fall. On Sunday, head to Druid Hill Park for a relaxing afternoon at an LGBT-positive festival with food, music, crafts, apparel, and more. BaltimorePride.org
AUGUSTA Destination: Augusta, Georgia Pride When: June 26–June 28 With the motto “Live Out Proud,” you can be sure that Augusta Pride will be full of its signature Southern charm. The weekend’s pride events get a jumpstart by Beats on Broad, the city’s largest outdoor dance party, which will take place on the Augusta Common. On Saturday, enjoy the annual pride parade procession followed by the pride festival, featuring performances by Maxine Nightingale, David Hernandez, Bebe Zahara Benet, and Victoria Porkchop. Of course, you won’t want to miss the wettest event of them all — the Ain’t Misbehavin’ Pool Party — a co-ed shindig that turns up the heat as you cool off. AugustaPride.com
HAMPTON ROADS Destination: Hampton Roads, Virginia Pride When: June 26–June 28
CHICAGO Destination: Neverland When: Pride Weekend (June 27–28) Market Days (August 7–9) Chicago is changing! Four years ago, the city’s Pride consisted of a single, small event on a Saturday night. With the help of Neverland, the scene has expanded! This year’s Pride will be the largest in years, with three large dance parties and world-class DJs like Alex Acosta, Ivan Gomez, and DJ Alexander. Market Days will be even bigger, with a daytime street festival, and nighttime events including Neverland Savages with Isaac Escalante and Alain Jackinsky, and Alegria headlined by Abel. Anthony DiFiore, Creative Director of Neverland, takes some questions. What does Neverland have in store for summer 2015?
One of the more unique events that sets Hampton Roads Pride apart from other small-city parties is its Pridefest Boat Parade on the Norfolk Waterfront where local boaters can show their LGBT support by sea with a parade pennant on their vessel. Seamen from all across the area join the procession for a wet-and-wild weekend of making waves and promoting equality. If you’re more of a landlubber, keep your feet dry at the 4th Annual Pride Block Party and Pridefest 2015, featuring a performance by En Vogue. HamptonRoadsPride.org
Our parties always have high-concept, unique theme like our Ratchet Ball a year ago, or Walt Disney is Dead. For Pride, our theme is Bougie. Tell me: Who has ever thrown a Bougie Ball before? We’ll be making fun of the finer things as well as celebrating them. For Market Days, our theme is Savages.
SAN FRANCISCO
What should travelers pack to enjoy Neverland to its fullest?
Destination: San Francisco Pride When: June 26–28 Does anyone need an excuse to travel to The Golden Gate City? The original gayborhood lives on the wild side and is a haven for overstimulation, but it’s also an interesting cultural study and a lot of fun. If you’ve never visited the city, there’s no time like the present to pack your bags and head to where the hippies, hipsters, vagrants, flagrants, artsy, fartsy, and more call home. DJ Joe Gauthreaux, who will be there for San Francisco Pride, gives us some facetime. Why is San Francisco the perfect place to celebrate pride? The gay community in San Francisco is big and diverse, so when everyone comes together, it’s such a unifying experience. What should travelers pack to enjoy San Francisco Pride to its fullest? Summer nights in San Francisco can get chilly, even cold! Bring a hoodie and you’ll be set!
What makes Neverland different from other parties? Neverland is run by artists, not promoters. Our emphasis is on fantasy and production.
A lot of people bring costumes that match the theme. You can get inspiration on what to bring and wear from the photos on our Facebook. Facebook.com/NeverlandParties
CHARLESTON Destination: Charleston, South Carolina Pride When: July 25–August 1 It’s only fitting that a city famous for its beloved Rainbow Row (a well-known block of colorful, attached homes) has an equally fabulous eight-day LGBT blowout. Charleston Pride rolls into the Palmetto State with a roller derby bout to bring more awareness to equal rights, and throughout the week revelers can take in film screenings, comedy nights, and other festivities. The culmination of the extended celebration is a parade, rally, and after-party, the latter of which features out country crooner Steve Grand, Eryn Woods, DJ Trevor D, and other entertainers. THE INDELIBLE DEL SHORES AWARD- WINNING DEL SHORES — writer, director,
producer, actor, and stand-up comedian — has been called “a master of the Texas comedy” by the Los Angeles Times. His original plays and films and television series, most notably the Sordid Lives series, por tray characters with hilarious wit and great humanity, even the unlikable ones. He’s worked with some of Hollywood’s biggest names and produced some of television’s biggest hits like Queer as Folk, Dharma & Greg, and Touched by an Angel. Del performs his one-man show, SIN-gularly Sordid, in a few days, but first: the inter view. Rick Kitzman
You’re performing your latest show SINgularly Sordid June 5th and 6th at Lannie’s Clocktower. Do you know her? I only know her as a legend in Denver. Everybody assures me I’m going to love her. Absolutely! What can people expect from your stand-up comedy? My whole philosophy of doing stand-up is I’m not a traditional stand-up comedian — I’m a storyteller. It’s as if you’re sitting in my living room, and I’ve got a glass of wine, and I’m telling stories and talking sh*t. Sometimes that bites me in the ass a little because people feel so comfortable they start talking back. I have to remind people this is not a dialogue 32

— I’ve got to tell other stories! But I just love this show. This will be my seventh and eighth time to do it. A big focus is the fact that I was abruptly single in my fifties and what do you do? I had to restart and figure everything out because the AOL chat rooms were gone and replaced by Grindr and Scruff. There’s a lot of funny stories about my evolution back into the dating world. My favorite piece of the show is Sharing 5 Bad Dates with Del, which frankly makes me worry I won’t ever get another date for their fear I’ll talk trash about them onstage. So yeah, that’s what my audience can expect. I’m also known for writing f*ck-you letters to the haters. There’ll be letters to Pat Robertson and Ted Cruz and Oklahoma Congresswoman

Sally Kern, one of my favorites to perform. I actually read her hateful quotes as her and I write her a letter. This is my fourth tour. I’m known for collecting bizarre stories that are so true they could be out of Sordid Lives. I’ve got a few celebrity stories, some trash on Mr. Leslie Jordan, George Lopez, and others. I watched your last interview with your Aunt Sissy shortly before she passed, the inspiration for one of your characters. She is a hoot! You called yourself a thief of your family. Why was your family an inspiration for your creative writing? Honestly, it happened accidentally. I didn’t intend for it to go in that direction. When I was in my twenties, I wrote my very first play about the kind of small-town Texas humor I like to explore. But it was based on nothing but my own mind. I would tell stories to the cast and director about my mother’s family who I thought was kind of normal. I didn’t think
of them as crazy. Back in my hometown they were normal, regular people. Everyone’s kind of eccentric. In Texas, everything’s bigger. I looked up your hometown, Winters, Texas on Wikipedia. Did you know you’re listed as a notable resident? That’s so funny. Residents there are not all that proud of me. They’re like, “Oh my God, he’s talking more trash about us!” But I don’t do it in that vein. I want to celebrate small-town life. My favorite compliment is from Romulus Linney, the playwright and Laura Linney’s father. He wrote me a fan letter saying, “You write about the forgotten people.” My grandfather, Pawpaw, was having these progressive strokes. Everybody came in to basically watch him die and fight the will. There was lots of drama with my mother and my Aunt Rita, and my mother would call and tell on my Aunt Rita and my Aunt Rita would call and tell that my mother was trying to mercy-kill my Paw-paw to get to the money faster. My mother filed a lawsuit against my Aunt Rita by this little pitiful lawyer in town. It just got crazy! So I was telling all these stories to my director, Sherry Landrum, and she said, “That’s your next play.” So I started writing Daddy’s Dyin, Who’s Got The Will? That changed my life. I wrote, I stole, basically I lifted my mother’s family and thought I would get away with this on a little stage in Hollywood. My family doesn’t go to theater, only my mother, who was the high school drama teacher. My dad, by the way, was a southern Baptist preacher. The play became very, very successful. It won best play that year, MGM optioned it, my first screenplay was greenlit with Hollywood stars, Beverly D’Angelo, Tess Harper, Beau Bridges, Judge Reinhold, and Keith Carradine. It opened wide in Texas. My family had no idea it was about them, and I thought F*CK! I didn’t know what to tell them. My Aunt Rita had always been my champion. The character Evalita was based
on her. My aunt takes everybody to see the movie and she did not speak to me for seven years. We finally reconciled, and her biggest complaint was her wardrobe, that I had her wear the same dress for three days making her look like white trash! When all these aunts and uncles started passing away, I said, “Well there goes my career.” Two of your works, Southern Baptist Sissies and Trials And Tribulations Of a Trailer Trash Housewife, use labels that could be construed as insulting and derogatory. Does that inform your humor or deflate the power of those words? No, it doesn’t. It’s not Del Shores. It’s the characters. If you’re going to be a writer, if you’re going to create a bigot, or someone who’s closeted, are you going to censor their language? No. Because that’s how the characters speak in real life. A character says ‘faggot.’ I don’t use that word. It’s the only time I ever wanted to fight, when someone called me a ‘f*cking faggot.’ Yes, it’s a very powerful word, but I put it in the mouths of characters. When I write a play, I embody the characters. ‘Sissy’ was a very derogatory word when I was growing up. For me, too. That was the word that triggered me, the first word I ever heard about myself that I did not ascribe to myself and I didn’t like. I still hate that word. Another horrible label to me was ‘queer.’ Not now, due to the power and brilliance of Queer as Folk. You were a writer and producer on its last three seasons. What was that experience like? The best. Unquestionably, the most amazing television gig I ever had. Even more so than my own series, Sordid Lives. We were a hit. Showtime left us alone. We were able to write uncensored and unbridled … to write stories with our passion. The cast was lovely! Amazing
I always defended Queer As Folk with fervor because I felt we had to tell the truth. It may not represent you, but it represents a lot.

human beings! We got to paint stories that weren’t always the prettiest picture, but telling the truth. We got a lot of controversy. A lot of the gays said, “Oh, that doesn’t exist.” The same thing happens with a lot of Southerners because they don’t want to be reminded that a lot of their relatives live in trailers and perhaps they came from that. I always defended Queer As Folk with fervor because I felt we had to tell the truth. It may not represent you, but it represents a lot. Emmy for her role in QAF. The Emmy committee is very conservative. I think if QAF were to premier today, she would be nominated and win, but at the time, people couldn’t get past the sexuality and its graphic nature, so they dismissed its quality. You call your father, a Baptist preacher, ‘a good man.’ How did your religious upbringing affect you? Do you consider yourself religious or spiritual? I consider myself agnostic, but also spiritual. I believe in humanity. I don’t pretend to know any more about God. So I don’t know, I suspect there is not. I don’t think there is a god. I don’t believe in all that, so I am not a Christian. I am not religious on any level. I am the Christian’s worst nightmare because I have biblical knowledge. You’ll hear that in my show. Sometimes I think I am more Christ-like than some of the Christians who go on my page and write hateful things. What was your impression of the Indiana Religious Freedom Act backlash? It’s the next wave for us. We are seeing all these religious acts coming up in various states. I do a radio show called the Del & Emerson Show — straight talk, real gay. We’re a big hit on UPN, their biggest show. We cover the gay news every week. The Religious Right is striking back at us, and we will continue to see this. You think the fight will be over when the Supreme Court rules, that if that goes our way, we are done? No, we are not done. As my youngest daughter said after Prop 8 passed, “Don’t worry, they’re all going to die. My generation will take care of you.” What has it been like having two daughters? They’re amazing girls, now 23 and 25. I have no regrets being so closeted so long. They were 2 and 5 when I came out as a gay dad. They’re amazing little fighters for our community. It was an interesting childhood for them. One is a school teacher, and the other is going into social work. You’ve married and divorced a man. Was your marriage miserable? Were there good times? I wouldn’t have stayed married to someone for 9 ½ years if it was all bad. I don’t like to talk about it to the press. It was a good marriage for a very long time, and it was good until it wasn’t. What’s your take on the impending Supreme Court decision?
Jonathan Wiley Saturday night after the Evening Rodeo, 7:30 pm
I think it’ll be a 5-4 decision. I hope it’s 6-3, in our favor of course. How do you think the losing side will react? We’re going to see all these groups find new ways to hate on us, like passing all these crazy laws like Indiana just did. We will see a huge response. Look at the statistics. Over 60 percent of Americans think gay marriage should happen. The tides of change have happened drastically. We’re putting a face on gay rights. Nobody’s closeted like they used to be. I’ve just written a new Sordid Lives movie called A Very Sordid Wedding. I catch all the characters up to date in 2015. I’m waiting for the Supreme Court decision to come in to do the final re-write. Religious bigotry plays a big part in the script. We’re getting there. We’re probably filming in August in Texas. We’re very determined to raise the rest of the capital. I wish you the best of luck. What would you like to see happen during your lifetime before you move on to that big barbecue in the sky? I would like to continue to see the tides change. I would like to see the hateful, hateful pastors go away and be replaced with love and compassion for everyone. And if they’re going to preach Christ’s message, that they embrace what he really taught, which was love. I’d like to fight a little less with assholes on Facebook. Be sure and catch his show June 5 and 6 at Lannie’s Clocktower. Lannies.com

ACTING LIKE APP-HOLES ONE OF THE AMAZING THINGS about having an honest
and open relationship is that my par tner and I can use gay social networking apps, like Scruff or Grindr, and trust each other’s intentions (sexual or not). Last year, I caved and finally joined Scruff for the simple fact that I suffered from FOMO (fear of missing out). I actually enjoyed it though and the only thing that seemed to go wrong was autocorrect occasionally causing me to tell guys they had nice clocks. Scott McGlothlen
A few months into my app-loads of fun, I received a message from a local guy named “denrunner.” Like most new messages, I read his profile before his message. He used words like “nice” and “selfless” to describe himself. But when I opened the chat, I saw something very different.
disposition, lack of punctuation, and terrible grammar made me feel kind of bad for him.
“So happy your looking for sex kindof sad in my book that your behaving like a hs teenager,” he wrote.
“It just means your supper sensitive And just wait because someone will call you all sorts of stuff for being poz lol,” he wrote back.
His slam caught me so off guard that I couldn’t really understand what he was even talking about. “Wow! What did I do to deserve such a snarky, mean comment?”
It felt ironic to be lectured on poz life. Clearly this guy didn’t know who I was or that I had become a local poster boy for HIV. I explained that when guys used insensitive language regarding my poz status, I often empathized with them for being uneducated.
“You say your in love and yet looking for sex with others You stated your view so I stated mine back Could have been a lot more mean like most gay men,” denrunner responded. He clearly had a bellyache with open relationships. I decided to take the high road and remain diplomatic. Besides … his bitter 36

“I did state my view but I didn’t force it on others if they simply disagreed with me. If you feel self righteous about your preference for monogamy, then that is fine too. But it doesn’t justify acting like a jerk.”
“Wait you empathize with them but not with me,” denrunner said without a proper question mark. “I would say I empathize with you the same way I would empathize with Ann Coulter or something. My heart does go out to people who

are narrow minded and feel the need to act like bullies,” I responded. Even though it was kind of a stab, I meant it. I often do wonder what damages someone so badly that they cruelly lash out at things that have nothing to do with them. Apparently denrunner did not like being compared to Ann Coulter, though, and the gloves came off. He called me a fanatic, which according to him, was worse than a bully. He also called me a prostitute and asked if my parents knew how many guys I let f*ck me. I immediately succumbed to the immature bickering and attacked back… saying that his bitterness was an obvious result in his inability to get laid. Denrunner got a few more hateful comments off his chest before he blocked me. I immediately contacted the Scruff app customer service in order to get a transcript of the entire thing. I was impressed with their responsiveness. When I brought it all home to my partner, he was shocked. Apparently he and denrunner had also chatted. But in their conversation, denrunner didn’t mind his open relationship and actually extended an invitation to come double penetrate him. In my quest for diplomacy, I had forgotten a cardinal rule: You can’t have a rational conversation with an irrational person. My gay app entertainment had gone awry and I ended up acting like quite the asshole myself. When I reviewed our transcript, I felt embarrassed about how nasty I got. I realized that when someone has a clear objective to hurt you, it’s not easy to maintain finesse. And perhaps it’s better to simply not even engage with them at all.

COMING OUT OF THE CANNABIS CLOSET PEOPLE WORKING TOWARD LGBT AND cannabis rights, though very different in their journey, have faced some similar challenges in their quests for acceptance. Both legal, social, political, and personal impacts forced them to live closeted lives for many years. Now, at long last, they’re starting to become what they should’ve been all along: legally recognized and able to bloom outside for all the world to enjoy. The legalization of cannabis in Colorado is over, but now the real work begins. Cannabis’ integration into mainstream culture and lifestyle without the stigma of stereotypes is our new battle. Contrary to popular belief, most cannabis consumers do not resemble the stereotype we see on TV. In fact, we’d even venture to say the majority of folks who enjoy cannabis are completely normal, well-educated people who simply enjoy the benefits of smoking a joint, eating an edible, or vaporizing some great oil to relax and partake in their freedom of choice. And that’s how it should be. As LGBT support of the cannabis industry grows, we’d like to show the love right back. As a way to formally introduce ourselves, we’re announcing a year-long series of cannabis-based activities geared for the LGBT community — and we’ll be launching during Pride week. Sign up for one of the Dispensary and Grow Tours on June 18, 19, or 20 and let us treat you to a cannabis-friendly, luxury limo ride provided by Sunset Limousine, special deals on Dixie Elixirs & Edibles, O.penVAPE vaporizers, VIP access to Native Roots Dispensary, and a tour of La Conte’s massive industrial grow facility and dispensary. Also included: a 420-friendly lunch at an LGBT restaurant (to be announced) and shopping at one of the world’s top glass 40

Here’s to being out and proud about who we are and what we stand for! O.penVAPE is thrilled to be a part of Pride in Denver for the second year running. O.penVaAPE is the largest brand in cannabis. Every O.penVAPE battery is compatible with our O.riginal CO2 honey-oil cartridges and RESERVE, our 100-percent-pure cannabis oil cartridge. Both of these concentrated oils are extracted through our Organa Labs-certified process, creating a pure, balanced, and consistent product every time. SHYING AWAY FROM EMOTIONAL CONNECTIONS FOR MANY, HOOKING UP FOR sex is easy, but the hard
par t is finding people who really enjoy spending time hanging out or snuggling on the couch. Don’t get me wrong, there are many things to love about sex, but most of us crave a connected encounter beyond just screwing around. Not ever yone is looking for a husband, but the “blow-and-go” can become quite unfulfilling. It concer ns me that a large chunk of our population has significant challenges forming emotional connections or showing affection. Brent Heinze, Senior Columnist
Of course there are truly different strokes for different folks, sometimes quite literally. For many, sexual contact is an extremely intimate activity while others consider it more like going to the store or putting gas in your car: It’s something you do to fulfill a need when it arises before moving on to the next task at hand. Some feel that sex can be fine once, but after that initial excitement is gone, the encounter doesn’t bear repeating. It’s totally understandable not to go back for a second helping of a dish that isn’t tasty, but if it’s a yummy choice, why would someone not want seconds? 44

The “you can totally pound me, but don’t kiss me” mentality does exist out there. Looking someone in the eyes and kissing can be considered too over the top and awkward. Unfortunately, it seems like it’s easier to find someone for a 20minute roll in the hay than it is to find a cool guy for a movie and snuggle. Showing emotional connection can be difficult, uncomfortable, or scary. Certain topics, activities, and feelings terrify people due to the extreme personal nature of what it can bring up for them. For some, physically sexual things may be totally acceptable while emotional aspects cause

them to avoid or run away from this perceived “intimate” and threatening encounter. Technology is often blamed for our lack of emotional connection due to reliance on things like phone apps and web-based tools for communication. Dating is more like shopping on Amazon than looking for someone awesome for a hangout session. We’re looking for what piques our interest for a short time, only to be discarded for the next bright and shiny object of affection. There is nothing wrong with having casual sexual contacts, but it’s crucial that all parties involved are on similar pages regarding expectations and desires. Being upfront about your intentions and what you want can help ensure your encounters are good ones. Don’t let being horny lead you into having encounters that leave you feeling unfulfilled and lonely. If you’re that worked up, take matters into your own hands and save the naked time for someone who’ll be interested in getting to know you, being truly intimate, and may actually be up for Round Two.

Proceeds from the show, hosted by Katrina St. Andrews, and the accompanying beer bust benefited the Colorado Gay Rodeo Association and its charity partners. Photo by Charles Broshous

ASK A SLUT Dear Cycle Sluts, I am so infatuated with this guy at work, but how do I know when that infatuation changes to an obsession with him? (I’ve looked up his address and stalked him on social media.)

HEY, AMERICA: TAKE A BREAK, ALREADY! THERE ARE MANY EUROPEAN THINGS I can get behind:
cheese and bread for seemingly ever y meal; a ver y liberal view on sex; the Alps; the French Riviera. But perhaps Europe’s most redeeming quality is their almost universal acceptance of long vacations. Yass, queen. Kelsey Lindsey
According to the Center for Economic Policy and Research, the United States is the only wealthy nation that doesn’t have legally mandated vacations for employees. Another fact that might make you weep into your American-flag bandana: The US doesn’t require employers to pay during official national holidays. What good is overeating hotdogs on Memorial Day or getting eggnog-wasted on Christmas if I’m not getting paid for it? Compare this to our friends across the Atlantic. In 2013, Austrians were guaranteed 22 paidtime-off vacation days and 13 holidays. Greeks? Four weeks off and six paid holidays. And the French: 30 days of vacation and one holiday. It’s bad enough they get to eat cheese, carbs, and fatty meats without ever seeming to gain weight. Now they can come over here and rub 52

vacations a year. The co-author of the study told the New York Times that the increased risk of disease mainly had to do with the toiling effect long-term stress has on the body.
Some Americans lucky enough to even get paid vacation days don’t use them! According to a survey from the US Travel Association, four out of 10 Americans did not plan to use all their paid time off in 2014! (Can it be transferred? Like, to me?)
Another study looked at the benefit of vacation on the quality of sleep before and after trips. After two or three days on vacation, people surveyed averaged an hour more of good, quality sleep — and most continued that when they got home.
Before I venture off into becoming a sniffling ingrate, let me present you with the health benefits of taking a few (or you know, a lot of) days off from your busy and stressful work life.
The caveat to these health benefits? They require you to completely unplug from the office. Once you start looking at your phone, even if you’re relaxing on the beach, you increase the chance of burning out and receiving any truly beneficial side effects.
A study published in 1992 found that women who took a vacation once every six years, or even less, were eight times more likely to have a heart attack or develop heart disease, when compared to women who took at least two

H EA LTH WHEN SHOULD YOU GET TESTED? Use this checklist to figure out if you should get tested more than once a year. If your previous test result was HIV negative and/or you can answer “yes” to any four of the questions below, you should get tested for HIV every 3-6 months.
TOP 8 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HIV
STARTING THIS SUMMER, DENVER PUBLIC HEALTH HAS A SIMPLE MESSAGE FOR YOU: “BRING IT UP BEFORE YOU GET IT UP.” IT’S A SIMPLE, CATCHY PHRASE that hopefully grabs your
attention. It’s par t of Denver Public Health’s newest social marketing campaign to encourage gay and bisexual men to talk about testing, PrEP, and staying in care. The campaign highlights local HIV testing and treatment resources from Denver Public Health, Jefferson County Public Health, and Tri-County Health Depar tment. Since talking about HIV in the heat of the moment can be a buzzkill, why not bring it up before you get it up? By bringing it up, everyone wins. In honor of this exciting community effort launching this month, here’s a list of the top eight things you need to know about HIV.
1. Nearly four of out of every five individuals newly diagnosed with HIV identifies as a gay or bisexual man. Obviously, we still have more work to do to get that number to zero. Let’s work together to change the future of HIV/AIDS by talking about testing, PrEP, and staying in care.
2. When it comes to talking about HIV, the conversation can be a little awkward and scary, even if you already know each other very well. In the Denver metro area, one in three gay and bisexual men do not know the HIV status of their last sexual partner. It doesn’t have to be that way. Commit to having those sometimes tough conversations and bring it up before you get it up. 54

Do you have sex without a condom? Do you bottom? Have you had sex with more than three male partners in the last 12 months? Do you inject drugs? Do you use meth? Are you unaware of your HIV status because you’ve never been tested? Have you ever been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection (STD)? Are you having sex with someone whose HIV status you don’t know? Are you having sex with someone who is HIV-positive?
6. Did you know PrEP prevents HIV i nfection? It’s tr ue. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is more than 90% effective in preventing HIV infection if taken daily. It’s safe and effective; can be combined with other HIV prevention strategies, like condoms; and reminds individuals to get tested for HIV and STDs every 3–6 months. Win-win-win. And because gay and bisexual men continue to be at increased risk for HIV infection, a PrEP talk is the perfect foreplay.
seven gay and bisexual men do not know they are living with HIV and may unknowingly expose their partners. With more than a dozen HIV testing sites throughout the Denver metro area, there’s bound to be a testing site near you. Most offer free, confidential, and rapid HIV testing, making it easy to always know your HIV status.
7. Not to be confused with PrEP, there’s also

know your HIV-positive status, are on treatment, and have your virus under control. Kudos to you! Not only are you healthy, your chances of passing the virus to your sexual partner are pretty close to zero with at least 96% protection. (If you are newly diagnosed or newly dealing with your diagnoses, support is available to help you access services and medication even if you don’t have health insurance.)
is understanding your risk level. We encourage you to get tested for HIV at least once a year.

even regular booty call, did you know you can get tested together? It’s a fantastic service Denver Public Health provides (on top of testing people individually). You will both get your HIV test and test results together. Plus, it’s free! For more info, visit DenverHealth.org/TestingTogether

PEP, which is also effective in preventing HIV infection. Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) involves starting HIV medications no later than 72 hours after a possible HIV exposure to reduce your risk for HIV infection. The sooner that PEP is started after exposure, the better.
8. If you’re undetectable, it means you
