Sushi is delicious, but it can be hard to recreate at home. However, there are plenty of ways to get the same great flavor in an easily assembled, at-home meal. This filling, delicious dinner is easily customizable and can be as simple as Emily Mariko’s viral salmon rice recipe from TikTok, or as complicated as a homemade poke bowl. Here is one way to make deconstructed sushi, but switch it up at home with your own favorite toppings and treats.

INGREDIENTS:

• Rice • Sriracha or another form of hot sauce • Mayonnaise • Your favorite sushi fillings and whatever you have around • Salmon • Seaweed • Carrots • Cucumbers • Avocado • Edamame • Green onion • Anything else you like

STEPS:

Step 1: Cook the rice. It does not matter how. Microwave minute rice will still make a great bowl.

Step 2: Prepare the salmon. If you are using generic salmon, cook it in your favorite way or try a new recipe online. For that classic sushi feel, invest in sushi-grade salmon or any salmon that can be safely consumed raw. This does not have to be expensive. Aldi has thinly sliced and reasonably priced pre-readied salmon that is easy to add to your bowl.

Step 3: Thinly slice vegetables. Cut long, thin strips of the carrots, cucumbers, and avocado.

Step 4: Make the spicy mayo. For this, combine equal parts Sriracha and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Mix thoroughly, then add to a small ziplock bag.

Step 5: Prepare the bowl – it really is that easy. Start with a bed of rice, then add the salmon, vegetables, and other toppings.

Step 6: Cut off a small corner of the ziplock bag and drizzle the spicy mayo on top.

Step 7: Top with some green onion and enjoy.
