LEtter From The Editor

Dear Readers,

As we embrace the crisp winds of fall, we are reminded that change, like the turning leaves, Dear Readers,s inevitable. This season is a chance to reflect on what truly matters—not just in our personal growth but in how we show up for one another. In a world that often feels divided, kindness remains our greatest strength.

This issue of BELLO ROAR is a celebration of acceptance and connection. It’s a reminder that strength lies not in perfection, but in the embrace of our differences. Whether you’re discovering new paths or rekindling relationships, now is the time to listen more, judge less, and offer compassion freely. Fall is a moment to strip away pretenses, like trees shedding their leaves, and let our authentic selves shine through.

Let us move forward with empathy. Let us lift each other up with the understanding that kindness is not a resource to be hoarded but a gift that grows as it’s shared. Together, we can make this season one of renewal and unity.

Here’s to roaring with kindness and embracing the beauty of every soul we encounter.

Sincerely,

Stéphane Marquet

Your role in Those About To Die dives into a world of ancient battles and raw human emotion. How did you prepare for such a physically and mentally demanding character?

I’ve always found Ancient Rome fascinating and have been reading about and studying it since a very young age. Gathering as much information as possible and understanding the historical background definitely helped me get into the mindset of that era.

What was it like stepping onto the set of Those About To Die and immersing yourself in that historical period? Any moments that particularly stood out during filming?

Everything really stood out. It was surreal walking onto the set every day, seeing how the temples, areas of the Palatine, or the Circus Maximus were built so precisely in just a few days. The costumes were astonishing, and the resources we had were unbelievable.

The show explores themes of power, survival, and honor. How do these themes resonate with you personally, and how did they influence your portrayal of the character?

These concepts have evolved a lot over the years. In Ancient Rome, people held onto them strongly because life had little meaning, and the mortality rate was much higher than it is today. These themes were the backbone of not just my character but many others. It was all about survival.

Fashion has always been part of your world. How has your personal style evolved since stepping into the limelight?

I wouldn’t say it evolved because of any ‘limelight’; it might have evolved based on things I see that I like. But honestly, I’ve had the same taste since I was younger. I’ve always been more drawn to classics and timeless pieces rather than modern or trendy looks.

Growing up with a prominent family background, did you feel any pressure to follow a certain path, or were you always set on creating your own journey?

I never felt any pressure beyond the pressure I put on myself. I never had a clear path; I tend to discover things, and if I like something, I dive in. I’m pretty obsessive, so if I like something, I pursue it fully.

Your Instagram offers glimpses into your life. How do you navigate the fine line between sharing your personal moments and maintaining a sense of privacy?

By keeping what I want to keep private. I don’t have much of a filter, but there are certain things I won’t negotiate. I don’t believe there’s a right or wrong way to handle it—everyone has the right to decide for themselves. I personally prefer to keep certain things private.

What’s a day in the life of Pepe Barroso like when you’re not on set or in front of the camera?

Usually, I’m working on my business, playing sports— lately golf, football, or boxing—or spending time with family and friends.

How does your approach to modeling dicer from your approach to acting?

I dedicate much more time to acting than to modeling. Acting requires more preparation and study and holds a much larger significance in my life. I feel lucky to work with great brands, but my focus is on acting. Modeling is more of a complementary aspect that has allowed me to pursue my true passion.

In your opinion, what makes a man truly stylish? Is it the clothes, the confidence, or something else entirely?

It’s definitely a combination of all those things. But I believe the most important thing is to stay true to who you are and feel confident in that. There’s no right or wrong, just different styles.

You’ve ventured into acting, modeling, and business. How do you strike a balance between these dicerent facets of your career?

It’s a balance that works for me—a mix of passion, opportunity, and work- life interests. They all complement each other. I’m a very active person, and I always need to have my mind engaged in something.

If you could collaborate with any director or fashion house in the future, who would it be and why?

Working with Roland Emmerich was a dream come true. There are so many other directors I admire— Martin Scorsese, Spielberg, Ridley Scott, Guy Ritchie, Denis Villeneuve, Guillermo del Toro, Wes Anderson, Tarantino, Christopher Nolan, Tim Burton… the list goes on. Working with any of them would be a dream come true. They’re the ones who inspired me to dedicate my life to this.

Kylie, you’ve had such a diverse career in acting, singing, and social media. How do you manage to balance these roles and what’s your favorite part of juggling all these different aspects of your artistic journey?

The best part of exploring the multiple facets of art is that they all lend themselves to one another. I first started as a dancer, That laid a foundation for what I would continue to do. I started in dance when I was two years old, then I did competitive dancing for years. From that moment on, I started naturally gravitating towards apps where I would do the dance trends and started building a following base there. Using YouTube as a platform, I started doing covers where I would sing Disney songs and it became natural for me to be online and share my craft. And they all intensely lend themselves, like I said, to one another. With these projects, like Descendants, as it’s a musical, I got to combine everything I love to do, so I can say that every part of my artistic trajectory has prepared me for this moment.

You started learning dance and engaging with the arts at a very young age. How has your early start influenced your approach to your career today?

I always tell anyone who dreams of getting into the industry to start with dance. That’s genuinely the foundation that got me to where I stand today; Those early days of dance taught me discipline, hard work, and confidence. All of this led me to gain better knowledge about my body. It helps with everything that I do, like my work ethic and all of those issues I worked on so early on. That’s surely why I’m able to have the stamina to do what I’m doing at this point in my career.

In Descendants: The Rise of Red, you play Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts. What unique qualities does Red bring to the Descendants universe?

Red is very much an anti-hero. It’s not her desire to follow in the footsteps of her mother, the Queen of Hearts. This is such a universal concept of not quite feeling like you want to take the same path as your parents, but especially in this case, where she comes from this royal line of queens. It’s hard to come to grips with the idea that you don’t want anything to do in this area, of becoming a queen one day, living up to what people expect of you. And that’s brave of Red to go against her mother that way. She goes on a journey of finding herself and discovering who she wants to be, which I feel is very relatable to the audience. My hope concerning those questions is that girls can feel inspired by that and not be afraid to truly be themselves, even if that means going against what people want for them.

How did your collaboration with Rita Ora on Descendants: The Rise of Red influence your portrayal of Red, and what did you learn from working with her?

Rita has such a strong presence, and she’s a queen off-camera just as much as she portrays herself on screen. She has that regalness to her, but, at the same time, she’s immensely sweet and open to collaborating. Anytime I had an idea for a scene or something we could do, she was always very receptive

to it, which made me feel safe to try things and experiment with her, which was genuinely fun. I wanted to match her, her regalness and intensity, but differently, in a more youthful way because Red is still a young kid trying to figure herself out. Simultaneously, she still is the daughter of a queen so I tried to bring a bit of that confidence and power that Rita had and implement that into what I was doing for sure.

You’ve mentioned that your social media presence has been a huge part of your growth. Can you share a memorable interaction or feedback from a fan that particularly touched you?

That’s a good question! Social media has been such a big part of the Descendants campaign, and that’s because the world we live in now, obviously, press junkets and things that look so different because everything’s online. Social media is the biggest tool for promoting any big music or film. So we use that with this campaign. And seeing like little kids learning the Red dance and getting tabbed in those videos; Also, people recreating Red’s look, doing the makeup, and recreating her wig and costume. All those different elements have been so special about this project that people can feel included in it and share the fun of the movie. It has been really, really special to see people online doing that.

You’ve played a variety of roles, including a social media star in High School Musical: The Series. How did you prepare for that role and what did you find most challenging about it?

It was unlike any role I’ve ever played before. She’s this Sharpay, like the snobby girl in your musical theater class who is the teacher’s pet, and that’s her. So I tried to emulate the energy of those girls I went to school with who were partially like that; They worked as an inspiration. You know, the girls that weren’t so nice in school were my references, like, as I said before, Sharpay Evans from the original High School Musical, Regina George, these iconic kinds of mean girl characters. Still, it was a challenge to portray the character of Dani because I had never played a mean girl like that. What was so exciting about it was to get to step into something new and challenge myself to explore my versatility. But one of the things I loved about playing Dani was that body language was such a part of her character because she would say so much without saying anything at all, with the facial expressions she would always position her hand on her hip, and the way that she walked were all such a part of what made her this bigger-than-life character. So it was a fun experience getting to challenge myself with that.

How did you get your start as content creators?

We were very young when we started making content. Jay was 11 years old, and I was 16. We were living on our small island of Aruba, making funny videos in our native language, Papiamento. A few years later, newer social video platforms like Musical.ly and TikTok took oS… and that’s where we first found success. Today, our content reaches over 65 million people worldwide, which is still crazy for us to wrap our heads around.

What led you to start creating horror content?

We’ve always been known for comedic content, so expanding into horror was very new for us—it almost happened by accident. In late 2023, there was a social media trend called “Uncanny Valley,” and we decided to try it out. To our surprise, our take on the trend instantly went viral. Everywhere we posted—Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok— the video got 75 million views and over 5 million likes. We had never done anything creepy or scary before, so the response caught us oS guard. It forced us to reexamine our content, and once we leaned into it, it took us on this wild new ride!

How did you come up with the name Uncanny Brothers?

As we dove deeper into horror content, the popularity spiked fast. Each episode was bigger than the last, and the series has now been watched 1.4 billion times. Since it all happened so quickly, we didn’t initially have a name for the series. But when we launched our apparel line, Uncanny Collection (uncanny-collection.com), we realized it was time to solidify the name. Our fans had already linked the series with the Uncanny Valley trend, so we kept that connection and called it Uncanny Brothers—since we’re brothers in real life, and the series revolves around two villainous brothers. Explain a bit about the process of creating one episode. How long does it take?

We want each episode to be better than the last, so there’s a lot of planning involved. Even though each episode is under a minute long, the entire process can take up to a month. We handle everything—from pre-production, storyboarding, and casting to filming and editing. It’s just us behind the scenes; we don’t have a big team. Our family plays a huge role too. On filming days, our dad helps shoot scenes, our mom does makeup, and our cousin stands in and assists with the camera when we both appear on-screen. A 30- second clip can take up to eight hours to film. On average, each episode requires two weeks of pre-production, one or two days of filming, and one to three days of editing.

Will you ever turn these shorts and characters into a feature film?

That’s our dream! We’ve received hundreds of thousands of comments from fans asking us to turn Uncanny Brothersinto a feature film. The demand is definitely there, and we’re incredibly passionate about the idea. We’ve also caught the attention of some executives in the film industry, so it’s something we’re actively pursuing.

What is your favorite scary movie?

There are so many! Our top picks are Halloween, Psycho, and Scream. We’re also big fans of Terrifier—we love how the latest release is shaking up the horror genre. Their success story is super inspiring for us.

Who is your favorite horror villain and why?

Michael Myers and Jason. We love the calm, eerie coldness of Michael Myers. It’s terrifying how he doesn’t run, but somehow, he’ll always find you. With Jason, it’s all about his size, strength, and aggression—it makes him really menacing.

Who are a few of your favorite horror directors?

Our top three are Alfred Hitchcock, Sam Raimi, and Wes Craven.

We’ve heard you dealt with some social media bullying early on. What advice do you have for people facing bullying?

People who bully others are often unhappy with themselves. Do you think a happy person would spend their time taunting others and making them feel bad? Their opinions are more a reflection of who they are, not who you are. Don’t listen to them. Instead, focus on the people who care about you—your family and true friends. They’re the ones who deserve your energy, not the bullies.

What’s next for the Croes Bros?

We’re excited to drop our next collection at UncannyCollection.com. We’re really proud of the new designs and can’t wait to share them with the world. We’re also pouring a lot of energy into developing Uncanny Brothers into a feature film— hopefully, we’ll have more news to share soon. In the meantime, we’re always working on new content, pushing ourselves creatively, and looking for fresh inspiration. Our dream is to create something meaningful for this generation—something that sticks with people. We want to inspire others through our art and remind them to cherish their bonds with family and loved ones. Working together as brothers and best friends is a gift, and we hope to encourage others to strengthen their own connections, whether with family or chosen family.

A Conversation with Christopher Ammanuel: Balancing Fatherhood and Filmmaking in a Changing Landscape

From his first role at age 11 in Getting Outta Bombingham, Christopher Ammanuel has been committed to storytelling that resonates deeply with the human experience. “That was a unique experience,” he recalls, emphasizing the project’s historical roots in the 1963 children’s march against injustice. “It taught me that acting takes a lot of work and research if you want to be good.” This lesson in dedication has carried through to his recent work in 1992, a film that navigates the complex terrain of racial tension in America.

Portraying Antoine King during such a pivotal moment in American history was no small task. Ammanuel explains the project’s emotional intensity: “It was hard for me, but I wanted to understand the mind frame of those who protested.” He drew on resources, including firsthand accounts from people who lived through that tumultuous period, allowing him to immerse himself in the historical context.

His journey has taken him between Atlanta and London, each city shaping his creative outlook. “Growing up, I heard that LA, New York, or London produced the top talent,” he shares. “But it gave me the understanding that there is enough talent here in America too.” This realization fuels his ambition to highlight diverse stories that often go untold.

As a new father to a baby daughter, the artist’s perspective has shifted dramatically. “I used to think my career was the most important thing, but now my daughter and family are what truly makes me happy,” he admits. This profound love and responsibility provide a sense of peace amid the unpredictability of the entertainment industry.

With 1992 initially intended for VOD but now thriving at the box office, Darby expresses gratitude for the film’s success. “I’m just happy that the story was told honestly. The feedback from fans has been overwhelming,” he says, reflecting on the film’s potential to spark meaningful conversations as it reaches broader audiences through streaming.

Darby takes immense pride in his role as a black superhero in Black Lightning. “It was inspiring because it proves we can do anything,” he states, highlighting the importance of representation in media. “I hope to take on roles that encourage young people to believe in their dreams.”

As he navigates multiple roles in the industry—acting, writing, and producing—he is excited about his upcoming project, Keys, a Bay Area story that he believes showcases artistic value without falling into cliches. “I want to give voice to the voiceless,” he asserts passionately. In addressing the pressing social issues that films like 1992 tackle, Darby believes cinema wields immense power. “Stories have always influenced our culture,” he explains. “They can have either a positive or negative impact, and we must tell stories filled with purpose.”

With thoughtful insights and dedication to his craft, Christopher Ammanuel Darby embodies the new generation of storytellers committed to making a difference. As he juggles his rising career and fatherhood, his work continues to challenge norms and inspire future generations.
