The beginning of a new year always feels like a fresh slate, and a time to act on the reflections and lessons of the past year. This second issue of the Black Entrepreneurs Journal feels extra special to us; it is symbolic of the success and positive feedback we have received from our community on the first issue. This issue also represents the continuation of our dream to share stories and resources for Black entrepreneurs in the Prairies and beyond.
Just like this journal started as a dream, this issue spotlights two stories of incredible Black entrepreneurs whose dreams turned into fruition. Saïd M’Da-homa took risks and delved into the competitive food industry. His career change from neuroscientist to baker is wholesome and inspiring. Meanwhile, Sebel Isaac’s restaurant, Tiramisu Bistro, has become a longstanding fixture in the Edmonton foodie scene. Both are inspiring role models within the Black community.
