The outpouring of grief was overwhelming. Nothing could have prepared Nigerians, indeed the world, for the shocker that erupted on Sunday, June 14, 2020 when news filtered in that top event planner, amazing angel and wondrous personality, Ibidunni Olajumoke Ighodalo, owner of famous, Elizabeth R Limited had died.

For many, the news was unbelievable. How could she die? Some people queried. It is not possible? Others screamed. Is she not the one that was playing with her husband, Pastor Ituah, the other day on instagram as she was embarking on a trip? Was she not the one in a video who struggled and climbed

hills, cutting through bushes to her father's graveside? It all seemed untrue, it all seemed so surreal- when it dawned on everyone that the story was true, the whole country, indeed, the world was thrown into mourning! Instagram, twitter, all other social media platforms were on fire. #ibidunighodalo

and #tributetoibidunighodalo hashtags trended for days. Popular gospel singer, Tope Alabi released a moving song and celebrated photographer, TY Bello released their last conversation, gradually everyone began to publish their own personal encounters, torrents of tributes flooded cyberspace.

IBIDUN'S

KINDNESS WILL LIVE IN OUR HEARTS ALWAYS She was so giving of herself, of her time and resources to helping others fulfill their dreams especially through the Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation

Dolly and I were shocked and heartbroken by the news of the passing of our dear Princess as we called her. Ibidun's kindness, her generosity, her love and commitment to family, friends and faith will live in our hearts always She was so giving of herself, of her time and resources to helping others fulfill their dreams especially through the Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation where she helped so many families experience the joy of parenthood. And this she did with such graciousness in the midst of her own personal struggles. Just a few hours after her passing, we had seen the massive spontaneous expression of grief from far and wide based on the sheer reach of her work, her love and concern for others even those that never met her physically were touched

by her generosity and her kindness. Man of God we have no words adequate to comfort you, Keke and Zenan, except our confidence that Ibidun now is with the Lord Jesus Christ in peace and joy. We pray for you, the children and the family, that the Lord will reach into the depth of your hearts and let joy and peace spring forth from the arid barreness of this sorrow. That this darkness will yield to His marvelous light, and that this night of weeping would be short and that the joy of the morning would be soon and eternal. Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the entire Ighodalo and Olaleye Ajayi familes and our brethren of Trimity House, Nigeria. May the Lord God bless and comfort you all in Jesus name . AMEN

IBIDUN,

IT’S TOO TOUGH TO SAY-Dele GOODBYE Momodu

"Good morning Uncle Dele. Message I have for you and Pastor Ituah is that Ibidun has finished what God sent her to come and do on earth and she had to leave. She was an ANGEL that God sent to come and sort Pastor Ituah out when he needed help. Those children needed to have a good life and their destiny through the Ighodalos, and if Ibidun had not come into his life, they wouldn’t have the opportunity. Pastor Ituah urgently needed an Angel at a time. Her job had been done says the Lord. She knew it was time for her to go and that was why she did all the videos and posted before she left. The Lord says Pastor will be fine and that he should not mourn!!!" Fellow Nigerians, I received those chilling words from Pastor Mrs Dele Adesakin, a good friend of my wife who lives in London. When I first read the message, I was shocked to the marrow, stunned and stupefied, wondering how to respond. I had to actually put a call to her, and we discussed this tragic news at length. Whether you believe in spirituality or not, Dele's words resonated with me. Ever since the news broke on Sunday, June 14, 2020, that Ibidunni, leading and superlative events planner, renowned public and street decorator, famous for the creative and remarkable Christmas decorations around Lagos, and wife of the highly revered Pastor, Ituah Ighodalo has passed (on the same date my own father died in 1973), I have been ruminating and combing through my many encounters with Ibidunni in about 20 years. My conclusion was that Pastor Mrs Dele Adesakin was most probably right. Ibidunni had run her race as ordained by God and had gone to be with her Lord who she had worshipped and loved most exceedingly. If you knew Ibidunni, even just casually, it is impossible not to have noticed the special grace of God in her. I first met her as Miss Lux Beauty Queen. She was not Miss Nigeria. She did not win The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, yet her reign combined and, possibly, eclipsed both Beauty titles in content and stature. Her gait, carriage, poise, composure and charisma were cherubic and angelic. In just one year as Miss Lux, she mesmerized and hypnotized an entire nation with natural but graceful exterior and internal purity which she combined perfectly and superbly with sharp intellect and wit. From that moment, her trajec14

tory would be on the rise and she would fly skywards at supersonic speed, reaching for the skies and indeed touching them before what we on earth will call her untimely demise. Ibidunni was a perfectionist who obviously possessed the Midas touch. Everything she touched blossomed. She never stood still. Always more than a cut above the rest. Her company, ELIZABETH R, brought fresh panache to the business of events, entertainment and street decorations. Her attention to detail was phenomenal, her taste was impeccable, and her elegance was sartorial. She breathed new and fresh life into everything she touched. She was a lady of ideas and sangfroid, who would always calm you

down and take away your pressure with reassuring words and radiant smiles. "Egbon mi, please, trust me. E ma worry..." was always her favourite saying that melted the hearts of panicky people like me and even her most cantankerous clients. To her, humility and respect were second nature. As one would expect from the probably foremost leader in her industry, Ibidunni’s services did not come cheap because she gave you the best, not only in terms of products, but also in terms of professionalism and above all, herself. And if ever you told Ibidunni her charges were on the high side, she wouldn't take offence but take time to explain why her services were different from that of oth-

ers and commanded such significant sums as fees. Upon listening to her deliver her homily in her sweet voice and with her lovely exquisite mien, you would be overwhelmed and overpowered and be prepared to pay even more, although your purse would groan at the impending assault and decimation of its size. Ibidunni never stopped showering me with sisterly love. It got too much at a stage that I started running away from doing business with her because what she offered to do was much more than what I could ever pay back. I often panicked on her behalf and was forever thinking if she won't go bankrupt by giving too much in a generally

thankless society. However, Ibidunni couldn't be bothered by such miserly thought and consideration. She simply wanted the best and planned for the best Please, permit me to give a few choice instances. The first is when my mother died in May 2007. She was to be buried in July 2007. I had called Ibidunni, first to inform her that I had lost my amazing Mum, who, though unlettered, struggled so much to send me to school. Ibidunni instantly demonstrated her empathy and promised to plan "a befitting burial for our Mama." Ibidunni was such an epitome of love and compassion. As far as she was concerned my Mum had automatically become hers. She went straight into action and although I kept asking for a budget, she would simply wave it aside with a shrug. She enjoyed speaking a combination of Yoruba and English languages that I found melodiously sweet. "A ni ko si problem Egbon mi.." and I would respond that "A wo’lu ma te, iwon ara e lo mo!" (The only way for a man to escape being disgraced is by respecting himself..." And she would have a good laugh. Ibidunni got to know my secret, through my wife, Mobolaji, that I panicked easily once I see fat bills. But we got on well, nevertheless. About two days to my Mum's funeral, Ibidunni came with the elusive invoice I had been pestering her for, and I broke out in sweat instantly. "Have I not climbed my trees beyond the leaves at this rate?", I soliloquised. So, I quickly scanned the items and actually realized Ibidunni had been more than generous, but how will I get to pay this? Ibidunni had faith and that was her answer and attitude to such bills. Let me tell you, that faith paid off big time in my own case, as I am sure in the case of many others. Please, believe this incredible testimony. I remember precisely that I was having a meeting with my Committee of friends at Planet One Hotel in Maryland, Lago on that fateful day. That very minute, the Spirit of Africa, Dr Mike Adenuga Jr struck, in his characteristic and unexpected and unusual manner, via Bode Opeseitan, who I instantly nicknamed Angel Gabriel, being the harbinger of good news. Unknown to Chairman, the pending bill, which had been giving me chills, evaporated. When I informed Ibidunni about the miraculous intervention from my Guardian Angel, she said "Egbon mi, eyin ni, Olorun ko ni je ki e mo iyi ara yin o!" (My big Brother, don't you know who you are, may God never let you even know because others know!). I loved the way she spoke her Yoruba, mellifluously, learnt that she grew up in Ibadan, the former headquarters of Yoruba warlords and high jinks politics but also the home and assembly of great poets and orators. Five months later, in December 2007, the Ovation Red Carol was birthed at the Eko Hotel Ocean View marquee. The event which has endured till this day was designed by Leke Alder of Alder Consulting (a prodigiously gifted man I gave the moniker of Professor Socrates for his Grecian brains). The event was instantly grabbed by the genius at UBA, Dr Tony Elumelu, for sponsorship, because he immediately recognised the potential. I didn't have to think twice before I gave Ibidunni the business of event planner and she did such a magnificent job of it. Elumelu was so thrilled that he approved the next year's event in the hall before we

even brought the show to a close. Ibidunni continued to wax stronger and stronger in her industry. And I always wondered how she gave so much consideration to others above her own interests. We became extremely close. In death, I now know she was virtually close to most people because that was the kind of soul she was. From the deluge of tributes, it is obvious she made all of us feel like the closest and I wonder the skills that made that possible. Let me fast forward, please. My 50th birth-

day soon came in May 2010. By then, Ibidunni had grown into an octopus in her trade and I truly panicked about approaching her to plan and organise the event. I remembered my Mum's favourite saying "A wo’lu ma te”! I knew Ibidunni was no longer within my sphere of affordability. It was therefore something of an abience for me. But this loving Angel probably read and saw my mind as plainly as daylight. Before I could decide whether to call her or not, she appeared from the blues and asked again: "Egbon mi atata, bawo ni a se nse birthday yin?" (My big Dearest Brother how are we celebrating your birthday?). I knew I was already trapped, and pinned down, by that rhetorical question. And I began stammering. Before I could find the appropriate response, Ibidunni helped me out: “E jowo, e ni ki Aunty pe mi, kaa jo plan everything...” (Pls let your wife call me so that we can knock the plans together). So, I told my wife, Mobolaji, to reach out to Ibidunni. You won't believe what happened. Ibidunni connived with my wife and told her not to tell me that she won't accept a dime for the job. There I was already perspiring in advance about the potential damage to my pocket! In fact, Ibidunni went beyond my usually fertile imagination by unleashing a plethora of special effects on the venue.

It was a masterstroke and showpiece event that will live forever in my memory, an immortal gift that I cannot now ever repay. The ambience was heavenly and Paradisiacal). You know that paradox of loving what you are not sure you can afford. This was exactly it! Again, she knew my thoughts even before I could voice them. "Egbon mi atata, this job is my gift to you on your birthday Sir”. "Whaaat!" I exclaimed. I was deeply touched, and my heart truly prayed for her. Ibidunni's heart was definitely golden. She had a portion of it ready to give anyone privileged to meet her. She often regaled me with how she believed that Ovation International had turned her into a superstar. But she was a superstar as destined by God. We merely became one of the willing tools that God used to propel and propagate her gospel. We were only doing our job. My interactions with Ibidunni would fill up a whole notebook. Our most recent encounter was when she sent me a WhatsApp message to inform me about her latest venture. I knew she was a Lady of many trades and Master of all. She was building COVID-19 isolation centres around the country and she wanted me to ask if Iya Adura, Reverend Mother Abimbola Esther Ajayi, could sponsor and build one for Lagos State. I told her Mama was building one of the most magnificent Temples of God in Victoria Islan, Lagos. Ibidunni immediately told me she'd seen the monumental edifice next to The Trinity House, Pastor Ituah's Church, and that it was beautiful. I explained that Mama was concentrating all her energy on that endeavour and might not be able to donate an isolation centre at this time. As was her character, she understood immediately. Ibidunni was extra special, selfless and passionately devoted to the cause of happiness for others. She was an inspiration in her desire to make others happy. She had apparently planned that her 40th birthday which would have taken place on 19 July 2020 would be celebrated without a party of any kind, but with the gift of parenthood for 40 indigent families. What a truly gifted and generous soul! I saw so much feverish activity on Ibidunni's Instagram account in the last few weeks. She was always in a playful and boisterous mood around her husband. I was going to call her last Saturday, when I saw an unusual pose and post of hers in which she had a travelling bag without her usual smile. But I got distracted to ask where she was off to and that was it. Incidentally, she had just visited her father’s burial site in Ibadan, ostensibly to let him know they would soon be meeting to part no more. We never spoke or chatted again. She went on that trip to Port Harcourt and never returned. The pain is just too hard to bear. Mrs Ibidunni Olajumoke Ighodalo, nee Ajayi, will be buried today, survived by her widower, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, two lovely children, Keke and Zenan, her Mum, Mrs Monilola Ajayi and siblings as well as a whole army of loyal and dedicated friends, known and unknown. May her soul Rest in Peace... 15

MY CHILDREN, MY JOY -Ibidun

Dear God, Where do I start? You are such a loving and kind Father it’s incomparable. Your wisdom and might is unrivaled as is your knowledge. You know the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end because time truly exists in you. You knew me before you formed me and you knew my life’s journey and you prepared for me every step of the way.... My choice of a life partner though questioned by many was a divine masterpiece by you... You already saw the struggles and you knew the perfect fit for me... you knew who could handle the storms of life with me and you blessed me with a wonderful husband, friend and lover. Ever so supportive and loving. Supportive through almost a dozen episodes of IVF, never wavering, there for every

test and doctors appointment. With all the societal pressures and shaming you held me and comforted me in my low times. Even when that did not work out you were already planning something mind blowing. How else could I explain the burden you laid on my husband heart to establish an orphanage even before our marriage? This same orphanage gave me my beautiful daughter who again has your hand in her life. Born on the same day as myself and named by her dad after me (such prophecy) and brought to the orphanage. Even when I did not recognize your hand it was there till our eyes saw that which was always in front of us. Again ever supportive, my husband was in support of our choice to go in that direction. The way you piece our lives jigsaw puzzles astounds me continually papa.

Out of the blue a call comes to my phone and my darling aunt says I’ve seen your son. Come and pick him.... Not a clue to the process I started in faith and you made a way and Zenan became ours.... Even when I’m not thinking about myself you are thinking about me and putting my thoughts in the hearts of people. Seeing my son is a moment I would never forget. The bond was instant, and love was in full flow. How could I ever have orchestrated my life as perfectly as you have done. I’m so glad I have you papa because your ways are not my ways and your hand is evident in my life.... Thank you Father for making a way, for guiding me, for holding me, for giving me joy, for sending me peace and for completely showing my family Favour. Papa my prayer would not be com-

plete if I don’t ask you to open the eyes of my other women trusting you for the fruit of the womb to have an open mind to different ways of becoming a ‘MOTHER’. So many children are out there looking for love and a home to call their own. I pray they experience the joy of motherhood as I do now and open their hearts to you to listen to as many options as you have provided..... Adoption does not mean you have failed them but is a way of showing what blessings you have in store for them if only they will yield to You.... a blessing which is priceless... I thank you for my two adorable kids, I could never trade them for anything in the world.... looking forward to your instruction on looking after more children Love you endlessly papa Yours Forever Ibidunni your beloved.

THIS IS YOUR LIFE

Ibidunni Olajumoke Elizabeth Ituah-Ighodalo was born in Kaduna city in July 19, 1980 to Chief Olaleye Ajayi and Monilola Ajayi, a splitting image of her father, who lovingly called her Kokoye. She was daddy's little girl and surrounded by brothers, she was as tough as nails and very much a tomboy as a child. Before her formal education, the family returned to Ibadan where she began her primary school education at Command Children School, she completed her primary education at K.Kotun Memorial School And went on to attend the Federal Government Girls College, Oyo where she made many life long friends. Age 16 at the end of her secondary education, her father passed, this event affected her profoundly and triggered in her a fierce independence and determination to excel. Those who knew her well will tell you that Ibidun was brave and fearless, she embraced opportunities and ran with them. In 1998 shortly after she began university, unknown to her, her brothers, No. 2 and No.3, entered her into Miss Lux Beauty Pageant, they challenged her to take part, she did and won. This threw her into the public eye for the first time. Known for her warm heartedness and generosity, she used her public platform for good for the rest of her life. Going on to support several charities, and provided hope and care to some of the most vulnerable population in Nigeria Ibidun completed her undergraduate study at the University of Lagos where she obtained a Bsc in Microbiology. However this venture into the sciences was shortlived, coming from a long line of strong, successful and enterprising women, she was born to be an entrepreneur. Immediately after university, Ibidun established her first company, Elizabeth R Events Management

Limited, a name chosen to honour her father and derived from her own middle name and the initials of her father's middle name, Rufus. One of the pioneer event planning companies in Nigeria, Elizabeth R has become an icon in the country, Ibidunni had a strong work ethic, no event was too big to plan and no event was too small. She would happily work through the night and rally her team because this was her passion She was a pace setter, over the years, Ibidun grew her business into an empire that encompassed event planning, bridal wear and outdoor dĂŠcor, often brightening up cities dur-

ing Christmas with her lights. In February 2007, Ibidun married the love of her life, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo fondly known as PI.And they ate blessed with two beautiful, awesome children...Onuakemonyi and Ehizenan. Her faith in God was her foundation in life and drove her to live an exemplary life of service. With her support, the Trinity House was birthed and established, her deep belief in God's wisdom and grace gave her the fortitude to rise from an expected challenges. and to use these experiences to create a positive impact on the lives of others. In no way is this shown than through the Ibidun Igho-

@TY BELLO

dalo Foundation which she established in 2016 to provide hope and support to couples struggling through fertility challenges. By providing access to assisted fertility interventions. Her Foundation has helped many couples to turn their dream of having a baby into a reality. Her biggest wish for her 40th birthday was that God will bring joy unto the home of 40 families through the gift of children born from the work of her foundation. We hope to to fulfil this final dream of hers. To her family she was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, a loving daughter, a beloved sister and a dotting aunt. Ibidunni drew people closer to herself and lived up to

her name, Ibidunni meaning it is good to her family, she cared deeply for her family and had strong and unique relationship with each and everyone of her siblings. She would be remembered for her kindness, her selflessness. She remained true to this nature throughout her life and in her final months devoted her time, energy and expertise to supporting the country to mount an effective response to COVID-19. She passed on on June 14, 2020, she radiated love and life. She has left a legacy that ensured her light will continue to shine so bright.

19

She was described as fearless, respectful, hard working, a doting mother, a compassionate philanthropist, a passionate Christian and loving wife.

Many who did not know her could relate, when they were told that she is the same woman behind Elizabeth R, the company that lit up Lagos some years, the company that has been everywhere mounting Isolation Centres and involved in major events. It was obvious that she was a friend to all. She was described as fearless, respectful, hard working, a doting mother, a compassionate philanthropist, a passionate Christian and loving wife. She wore so many caps, played many roles but surprisingly, like a skilled performer, she played all her parts so well, so efficiently, as to earn applause. Ibidunni represented many things to different people: The high, the middle, the low. She cut across age brackets, and built bridges across religious or ethnic barriers, she was a star that shone brightly where ever she went. Though just 39, she had made great impact while alive, and in her death more impact is being made as her foundation and engagements like the Timeless Women have vowed to keep the flag flying and the fire burning. Talking of her age, she would have been 40 years on earth on Sunday, July 19th and as revealed by TY Bello, all she wanted was to sponsor 40 women through their fertility challenges, what a wonderful soul! Ibidun was so popular because her life was an open book, she shared her trials and triumphs, her pain and gain, ac20

@TY BELLO

cording to her, by sharing her story, she believed, it will help others learn valuable lessons. It was in a bid to expand the conversation, that led to the Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation Talking about her Foundation, she stated " It was born out of pain, when you get married you expect to just start having children, and everything just will work fine. First year you are not pregnant...I just thought, it would come, it would come". She waited 11 years and endured 11 IVFs" According to her " I just woke up one morning on my birthday, I usually have this thing I do on my birthdays, I sit down, I pray, and have a conversation with God. And I said to Him. "You know what, I am not doing this IVF thing again. How you're going to do it , I do not know and I do not care but I am trusting you completely. And I heard something. "In the meantime, just go ahead and help as many people as you can" "I felt life, I felt like, this was why I was born. And the meaning of my name, Ibidunni, “sweet to give birth”, “sweet to have”, came flooding through my head. And I just decided to trust God. That conversation led to this Foundation" The Foundation has since revved into action and has even won laurels. And though she had planned not to

have a birthday, her 40th will be marked with glitz and glamour at a global worship concert. The event will see top stars like Ron Kenoly, Tope Alabi, TY Bello, Muyiwa Olanrewaju, Kunle Ayo, BJ Sax, Efe Nathan, Mike Aremu, Sammie Okposo, Tosin Alao, Yetunde Are, Seyi Ajayi and more performing. From Nigeria's Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Bababjide SanwoOlu, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to Africa's riches man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi and her husband, Dr Ademuyiwa Ajayi, Ova-

tion Chairman, Bashorun Dele Momodu, Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, it has been an outpouring condolence visits, tributes and phone calls since her death was confirmed. The Ikoyi, Lagos home of her husband, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo was bombarded daily by well wishers, church members and men of God who wanted to comfort him in this moment of sadness and grief. After the dust settled, with Asue Ighodalo, Dr Kweku Tandoh, Pastor Robert Omole, Pastor Bayo Rotimi, Pastor Niyi Akenzua, Pastor Tosin Alao, Chike Ogeah and Afolabi Oke as members of a Committee, plans began to take

shape for her funeral. The first event was a Praise Night and it was held at the home of Pastor Ituah. It was an evening of soulful worship, praise and prayers to God for the life of Ibidun, who many confirmed, came, saw and conquered. The members of Trinity House, the Church which Pastor Ituah serves as Pastor came out in full force to celebrate the lady who not only worked in the vineyard of the Lord but was family. After that evening’s event, the funeral ceremonies shifted to the hall of Deinde Harrison's Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi where a Night of Tributes was to be held. The venue as expected, was creatively transformed to make it heavenly

and convivial. It was a very restricted event because the family wanted to stick to the COVID-19 Protocol. Of course, Ovation International was granted full access to cover the event and we beamed it live on all our platforms to world, as well as have the pictures to keep for posterity. The event itself had Pastor Bayo Rotimi as compere, there were a few inperson presentation of tributes, but many were via the Zoom platform. From Mrs Titi Adenuga, wife of Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr. to Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde

She would be remembered for her kindness and selflessness. She remained true to this nature throughout her life and in her final months, devoted her time, energy and expertise to supporting the country to mount an effective response to COVID-19.

Fashola, SAN, Pastor Femi Atoyebi, Hakeem Muri-Okunola and Pastor & Mrs Paul Adefarasin to Ibidun's cousin, Dr. Ben Adeyemi, aide, Jennifer Bello, Cofounder of Sahara Energy, Tope Shonubi to Mrs Tosin Bakare, the world was regaled with the excellent history of Ibidun. We were given different aspects of her life: Her work life, her Christian life and her private life. The most emotional tribute of the evening was from Ibidun's daughter, Unuakemonyi (Keke), it moved many to tears! But one thing was clear, Ibidun Ighodalo lived a life that was actionpacked, purpose-driven and God-ordained. She had left the world like a candle in the wind, and only her memories remain. Her Saturday, June 21, 2020 burial was a spectacular affair. It was as expected, co-ordinated by Trinity House, Zion Centre and Elizabeth R. Mrs Bola Okoli of Bonix and many other personalities in the event business were on ground to offer a helping hand. The day was bright and beautiful and was fitting for the farewell service for such a beautiful angel. There was a short lying in-state and prayer session at the family house before her remains, which laid in casket. draped in a special flag with the Trinity House insignia emblazoned on it, was ferried in a see-through hearse to the Ebony Vault. The funeral cortege was strictlymade of family members because again, due to COVID-19, only a select number of guests were invited while it was beamed live on Arise TV as well as social media platforms of Trinity House and

By the time the cortege arrived the Ebony Vaults for the funeral service, Mr Asue Ighodalo was waiting, he received his brother and family, placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, as the pall bearers took the remains of the departed out of the hearse, and taking careful, measured, ceremonial and well-choreographed steps, moved her casket to the bowels of the hall as the processional hymn "For All The Saints Through All Their Labour's Rest" wafted from all corners of the hall. Already, a few of the people in the audience had begun to shed tears, maybe they had been living in denial, but it was no film trick, Ibidun was no more and was about to make her final journey home. Pastor Bayo Rotimi again was compere and he handled proceedings expertly. After a short worship session by Emmanuel and Chinwe of Trinity Voices, Prof Konyisola Ajayi, SAN was invited to pray for the businesses and causes that Ibidun founded, had significant passion

for and was leaving behind. Thereafter, Mrs Iheoma Okoroafor of Timeless Women, a group the departed Ibidun founded, took centre stage. She revealed how Ibidun was always joyous at the birth of a child from the support of her foundation. Then Keke, who seemed to have emulated the trait of having supreme confidence from her mother, took the second Bible reading taken from Psalm 112. Thereafter, there was another wondrous rendition of "Sometimes A Light Surprises" by Trinity Voices led by Tosin Alao, before Ibidun's elder sister, Mrs Nneka Folake Ikejiani was invited to read her biography. The Trinity voices again took centrestage with a medley of songs, but the spirit in the hall moved a notch higher when they began singing Lara George's Ijoba Orun. Pastor Ituah was so moved that he not only rose but went on stage to join the singers. He ended his session with the words "Ibidunni I LOVE YOU! Continues on page 27

IBIDUN LOVED ME UNCONDITIONALLY -PASTOR ITUAH IGHADALO (HUSBAND) of life.

In life she really taught me many things, in her passing she has taught me much more things. I want to thank you all. It is well with keke, my daughter, she is asking a few questions and I am praying for wisdom to answer her. It is well with Ehizena, Zena, he is not asking too many questions, I am sure he will at the appropriate time. He sees his mother's picture and keeps saying mummy, mummy and I think, he thinks she has travelled, which indeed she has but he expects to see her back again shortly but we will explain to him in the future and show him pictures

Thank you very much, I am grateful for all that you have done. I am thankful to God for the memories of a very wonderful lady, it is a privilege for me to have met and married Ibidun. It was a privilege for me to have her accept for me to be her husband. And we began a journey that we thought will last a lifetime, at least my lifetime. I am several years older than her and nobody will ever have thought that she would go ahead of me. But Ibidunni lived a lovely life, she was full of spirit, she was kindhearted, she was a perfectionist. She was

full of love. I believe that one of the greatest things about her was she accepted me for who I was and as I was, she loved me unconditionally, she supported me totally. I thank God for everything. It was a bit sudden, a bit of a shock. I did not see it coming at all. Although about a month and a half ago, I had a strange dream which I prayed about and dismissed, I didn't pay too much attention to it. But in all things, we give God thanks. We really do give God thanks. So I celebrate her soul, I celebrate her spirit.I celebrate the privilege

and show him videos and share with him memories. Ibidunni had a way with those children, she was a wonderful mother, she had a right balance of love and discipline. And whenever she was around the atmosphere was different. But we thank God, God has been gracious to me, He has given me the ability to cope thus far. Please remember us in your prayers and I want to assure you that it is well. 23

SHE WAS A GREAT MOTHER TO ME Unuakemonyi (Keke) Ighodalo (Daughter)

My mom was a beautiful woman, she acted like a woman who came from a place where no one knows. She was very strong and she felt everyone's pain, she knew what everybody else went through when they are not very happy. And she helped them. She has been a great mother to me. I have never seen such a woman like her. I miss being with you and the things we've done together, we all miss you. I miss having fun with you and telling jokes.

There was a short sermon before Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, Special Assistant of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was called upon to pray for the family of Ibidun who was described as God's General. According to Pastor Iluyomade "weeping can only last for a while but surely joy will come in the morning. We are looking forward to days, weeks, months and years of joy for the family". The vote of thanks was by Mr. Asue Ighodalo, who described himself as Ibidun's Twin (They share the same birthday). He took time to carefully and respectfully thank everyone and encouraged all who loved Ibidun to donate to

the Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation. The closing prayer was by Pastor Tony Rapu. Immediately he finished, the choir broke into the processional hymn, Abide with me. As the casket bearing the remains of Ibiduns was taken to the graveside, the heavens opened up and there were torrents of rain. This was a clear sign that indeed she has gone to be with the LORD. The graveside activities was only attended by family members and there was no doubt that Ibidun was given a glorious farewell, the kind that she would have packaged for a client

YOU WERE OUR MOTIVATOR -SIBLINGS

As a family we have always been a tower built on a foundation of love, but how does a tower stand without one of its strongest pillars? On the 14th of June 2020 our world shook, immediately, there was an imbalance, and we simply don't have a list of the to do's. We didn't get a chance to plan for this, but here we are, planning for the planner. As it's said often, that's life, an no matter how hard we try to rewind, it is not a rehearsal, and we don't get second takes. We have to accept that you are gone!!. We are still waiting to be woken up from this bad dream, but the calls...the persistent calls and texts prove that there is nothing but a bad reality. We ask How?Why? Questions without answers. We are broken but our foundation is in the Lord, so we trust that He knows best. It may not have been our time, but it is your time, You fulfilled your purpose. You know the phrase we always used to testify God's wonders in our lives; My God of Just Like That! Now we used it from a place of pain. Just like that you came, you saw, you conquered. Just like that... you are gone. Just like that, we now speak of you in the past tense. But your legacy, achievements, struggles, victories, accomplishments, the countless lives you

30

touched and changed...these stories will never be told, "Just Like That". My Siisii, D-randy, My bro, My Baby Bro's names we will never hear you speak again. My Baby Sis, My Motivator, My Protector, Twinny, My Everything, Our Kokoye names we will never say again. You called some of us "Egbon", you called some of us "Baby" but you pushed each and everyone of us to be better and to excel. You were our motivator; our fierce protector. You taught us to not be part of the crowd by making each of us realise we were our won singular crowd. You were always there for us, even when you didnt want or need to be. You loved us unconditionally and we loved you unconditionally. For those who know our family, there are simply no words to describe the love, bond and commitment to one another. Whenever we said " I love you" it ended withAlways and Forever. Forever came to soon Ibidunni, but the "Always" will never change. Rest now Queen.

Your Siblings: Now and Forever

THANK YOU KOKOYE SHARING YOUR HEART

FOR

KOKOYE,

If one could wresle death I would have, even if it will cost my life instead of yours. You left so abruptly, yet with so many beautiful memories to share and cherish forever! You were so dear, no matter when I need you, you were always near. You gave us all you had to give, but most of all, you gave us love The greatest gift of all (1 Cor 13: 13)

-DARE AJAYI (Brother)

MY DARLING IBIDUNNI, YOUR PASSING IS VERY PAINFUL

Truly God sent you amongst us to impact the world, you did it so well!1 Even in death you are still impacting the world. Ibidunni you fulfilled the scrpture Phil 1:21 and ran "Kokoye" as mummy called you. Where do I your race well! God is now saying "Well done my good and begin....Mama Ayo's last born. You had so much love to give faithful servant" the world! You loved fearlessly!A beautiful soul on the inside Your passing is very painful, it is heartbreaking and and out. I'm saddened by it. However, I am assured by 1Thess 4:13 You were only 13 when I was getting married, you were very excited like every little sister would be. I remember Good night my darling Aburo you telling me that you wish God gives you a man like Uncle -Joke Adewunmi Niyi. Well, He certianly did and He gave you much more. 31

IBIDUN...THIS WAS NOT THE PLAN TEE A

95

This was not the plan. It is now 7 days after. This still feels so surreal. Ah! Ibidunni, this one hit me bad. So much has happened ,yet I still can’t articulate my thoughts. We had met on campus (Unilag) around 1996 ,and then one fateful night while I was trying to run out of newest hall 2, where I had come to check some friends, we met by the staircase and you asked if I knew where you could get an Hausa Fulani costume to rent, before I even asked what you needed it for, you said you where going for a beauty pageant and needed it. I laughed in utter disbelief ! You Ibidun ! Beauty pageant ? Considering how quiet and private you have been even around campus. You explained that it’s not “that kind of pageant “ rather it was to be the face of Lux beauty soap. Wow.... wait a minute, they have contracted me too to perform a stand up comedy set at the event oo!

That night ,we scattered the whole campus looking for Fulani costume. The day of the pageant came, I finished my performance but waited for you to be crowned because you were the crowds favorite and many saw beyond the beauty of your face. Our Omo Iya journey began that day and all through University and till date . Ibidunni....This was not the plan. You set up Elizabeth R, after school and grew it from that small shop at the back, beside double4 then, into a big time event services company. I remember us moving the office to dolphin and you asking me to recruit and develop the office structure, all those young girls then ,are now proud CEO’s of their own companies and will never forget the role you played in their lives. You loved and lived your life for people! Kilode ! Nothing was too big or expensive for you to share or give away .

SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO OUR DEAR ANGEL

Words alone can’t express our deepest love for this amazing angel, whom God brought our way, Ibidunni shared a very deep connection with my family especially my kids ( David & Anjola ) , who will see her at a distance and run into her arms, she has indeed touched our lives in more ways than one, she always had a smile on her face each time we meet. We had prayed together a couple of times through her period of pain but she then, made up her mind to stop worrying over childbearing and to just keep trusting God while helping other couples through their own fertility journey. She said “I made a covenant with God and told Him that I would leave it completely in His hands,” I was inspired by her foundation as she poured her heart into it, we planned my yearly Runway Jazz event together in 2018, where we surprised her and gave her a special humanitarian award on behalf of her Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation, which was presented by the wife of the Vice President “ Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo .

In one sense, though, Ibidun is not gone. She will continually and fondly be remembered as a friend who radiated great bliss, laughter, and splendour wherever she graced with her unforgettable presence. Indeed, the true measure of a person is not how long he or she lives, but what was achieved while on earth. She was endowed with the noblest persona epitomizing kindness, selflessness, genuine humaneness, and an extraordinary ability to put a smile on people’s faces, even at the most improbable time. In all circumstances of live as a believer we must give thanks to God no matter what and we can’t ask God “why”!!! We just have to accept it all, my heartfelt sincere sympathy goes to Pastor Ighodalo, Keke and Zenan in this trying times for strength and courage to carry on. Ibidunni was such an Epitome of beauty, resilience, grace and poise. Heaven has indeed gained an angel. Rest in the bossom of our Lord. Much love : Afolabi & Opeyemi Oke 96

ANGELA PAUL AUGUSTINE UPONI

We met through I met her 4 years bePastor Ituah. She fore I joined her was a very calm brand. Jokingly I used person. Very sweet to tell her that she is and loving lady the only person who ever gave me a 20 PASTOR pounds note on the very first day we YEMI met. She was a fanMORGAN tastic person. Ibidun was beautiful inside and outside. Extremely humble, very genteel, very sweet,

She mixed work and social life so you could not really distinguish. You saw Ibidun at work getting an event ready then briefly she would go change. She was too happy making everyone else comfortable.

“

Ibidunni represented many things to different people: The high, the middle, the low. She cut across age brackets, and built bridges across religious or ethnic barriers, she was a star that shone brightly where ever she went.
