Letter From the Lifestyle Team KAITLYN HOFELDT YOUR LIFESTYLE MANAGER
Happy Fall Everyone! Summer is almost over and what an eventful one it was. From pool days and golf cart parades to game nights and a Signature Event, our community was bustling with activity! We wrap up our summer with our Labor Day party in September to close out the season. As we head into fall, it may still be hot here in Florida, but the hope of cooler weather and the feeling of fall fills our community. Our event calendar continues to be a busy one featuring our third Signature Event – Bubbles & Bowties, where members are invited to get dolled up and be transported back to the 1950’s. Members can enjoy some fall festivities with a cornhole tournament and Halloween themed events and activities. Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss all that we have in store. To continue to give back to our surrounding communities, each month we will do a fundraiser or donation to local organizations. In September we will be collecting items for our local first responders and in October we will be collecting items for our local animal shelters. Stay tuned to our email communications for more information. Thank you for the splendid summer and cheers to a fabulous fall!

Crystal Steere YOUR NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF SPA, FITNESS & WELLNESS
A
s we continue to support the Esplanade brand on a national scale, we are excited to welcome Crystal Steere to the Esplanade National team. Her focus on spa and wellness programming will bring a fresh perspective to each community and streamline operations. In addition to a renewed focus on Lifestyle and sports programming, her expertise will be leveraged to create exciting wellness initiatives that encourage Members to live an inspired Lifestyle through building their social network while embarking on their wellness journey. Crystal will be instrumental in the launch of seasonally inspired spa treatments at our spas and introducing our new private label bath and body care product collection. Crystal will also be designing an annual fitness membership program and collaborating with your Lifestyle team to launch monthly wellness workshops, seminars, and expos geared at health, nutrition, and mindfulness. In addition to spa and fitness programming, Crystal will also be supporting each community as their court sports open, working with tennis and pickleball professionals to program weekly tennis, pickleball, and bocce clinics, challenges, and events. Crystal joins the Esplanade National team with an extensive background in resort and hotel management in the field of health & wellness. Crystal’s passion for spa and wellness programming encompasses not only industry knowledge, but operational excellence, business acumen, team support, and development. Crystal has more than 15 years of experience in spa and fitness management working for prestigious companies such as Golden Door Spa, Hilton Hotels, Waldorf Astoria, Northwood Hospitality, WTS, International and most recently as the Spa & Wellness Manager at Esplanade Golf & Country Club Naples, a Taylor Morrison community. In her career, Crystal has been awarded several leadership awards such as Manager of the Year at the Waldorf Astoria Naples and recipient of WTS International Basics to Excellence Management Award. In addition to being a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), Crystal is an experienced leader in Human Resources and Retail Management, holding the title of General Manager at Banana Republic, Gap Inc. Crystal holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a specialization in Hospitality & Resort Management from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. As a Florida native, Crystal enjoys spending time outdoors exploring all that Southwest Florida has to offer with her two children, Piper age 6, and Avery age 2, her husband, Nate, and their two dogs Cooper and Lucy. We look forward to introducing you to the rest of the Esplanade National team in future publications!

Roger & Sue Thornton The members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager. Where are you from and where did you move from? We moved from the Michigan area, specifically Waterford, which is approximately 35 miles northwest of Detroit.
Q A
Why did you pick Palmetto / Esplanade at Artisan Lakes and how long have you lived here? Back in the early part of 2018 we spent two months in the Sarasota area, and we loved this general area because of the central location to major cities, the beaches and expressways. After spending that entire time searching communities from Springhill to Cape Coral, we finally decided upon Esplanade at Artisan Lakes. We spoke to quite a few neighbors in the community, and everyone seemed so genuinely nice and friendly. What is your favorite thing about the community? We really enjoy the Resort Style Pool area and the Signature Events. Which Lifestyle program interests you the most? Both of us enjoy the friendships we have made since we have been here, along with pickleball, working out, riding bikes, the sunshine and going to the beach. What can we find you doing during your free time? We love photography. We like to visit different towns and

take pictures. Then, we have a competition between the two of us to see who took the most interesting picture. I also mat and frame our pictures. We love to display them in our home. What do you think everyone should do/try at least once in their lives? Our entire family had a tremendous time going out to Colorado on a vacation ski trip together. The views on top of the mountains were breathtaking and we also enjoyed seeing who could make it down the hill first between the three of us. Sue was always the smart and cautious one who took her time to make sure we were all safe. For me personally, a close second would be scuba diving off the coast of Cozumel, Mexico. Seeing the sea life, coral formations and the sheer beauty under the ocean was a thrill for me. Where is the most exciting place you have ever visited? After retirement, we both had a chance for four years of living in the Cancun and Playa del Carmen area of Mexico for two months each year right with the locals of their communities. It was quite the experience for both of us to live outside the typical resort areas and shop, find transportation and communicating with the people of Mexico. They made both of us feel right at home.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Under the
BIG TOP Our community hosted our second Signature Event and it was a circus! No, it really was! From the décor to the popcorn machine to the performances, our Under the Big Top Signature Event took us back to a simpler time. Our “circus tent” started at the front of our Resort Amenity Center with a stilt walker as our greeter. Members were transported in time as they walked through the “tent” entrance (Resort Amenity Center hallway) with lighting, circus drapes and The Greatest Show song welcoming them to the event. Our ringleader, DJ Wen, was spinning great tunes under the big top and kept the dance floor packed in between our performances. Dynasty Dance Studio performers wowed our members with ballroom and tap dance performances to songs from The Greatest Showman. After grabbing some food and drinks, many of the members were donning balloon hats, crowns and accessories hand made from our custom balloon twister. It wouldn’t have been a circus without a grand exit, and nothing says grand exit like sparklers. As DJ Wen played a few last songs, members gathered to dance and twirl sparklers as our circus event came to a close.

Fitness Classes Fitness is an important component to a healthy lifestyle. Esplanade at Artisan Lakes fitness center is open 24/7 to members with their access cards. Come utilize our state-of-the-art equipment, free weights and movement studio. Not sure where to start? Don’t worry, we have you covered. Join in on one of our several fitness classes, including three new classes. Want to start a more personalized routine? Inquire about our 1-on-1 personal training options.
Zumba (New Class) TUESDAYS AT 6:30PM & THURSDAYS AT 6PM Zumba is Latin-dance-inspired aerobic fitness format. No dance experience is required, your instructor will show you all the moves and you will learn as you go! With dances like Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Cumbia, Zumba feels more like a party than a workout. Sneakers, towels and water bottles are recommended.
Aqua Fitness (New Class) THURSDAYS AT 8AM
Sit & Train MONDAYS AT 9AM | WEDNESDAYS AT 10:30AM FRIDAYS AT 11AM A full body workout while seated in a chair. The class utilizes free weights, resistance bands, range of motion bars and body weight exercises. All exercises are meant to increase overall strength, range of motion, flexibility, and core strength. Standing balance exercises may also be performed in this class for various levels. Perfect for all ages and fitness levels.
Pure Strength MONDAYS AT 11AM | WEDNESDAYS AT 11:45AM Build strength, add definition, increase bone density and decrease body fat by increasing lean muscle. Speed up your metabolism and the more muscle, the more calories burned working out and at rest. Enjoy this 60 min workout while using free weights, body weight, and resistance bands.
Yoga MONDAYS AT 6PM | WEDNESDAYS AT 9AM THURSDAYS AT 11AM In this class, postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion with standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, and hip openers.

This traditional water workout used pool noodles for total body fitness. Aqua Fitness uses a combination of moves that strengthen, tone and help increase aerobic capacity all with a low-impact pool workout. Swim attire required, hats and sunglasses are highly recommended.
Circuit Training (New Class) THURSDAYS AT 7PM These classes are designed for a total body workout using different stations to mix it up and provide results through interval training. Classes combine indoor bikes for low-impact cardio, TRX for total body sculpting, and other moves to build strength, increase agility and improve endurance in this 60-minute session. Sneakers, towels, and a water bottle are recommended.

Intro to Tennis Clinic (Complimentary) This class is for those interested in learning tennis for the first time, brushing up on your tennis after some time off, or to meet the staff and get placed into other clinics. One-time introductory clinic per member. All skill levels are welcome.
Tennis Clinic You will work on the fundamentals of tennis, including ground strokes, volleys and serves. All players have the opportunity to enjoy low-key point play. The atmosphere is relaxed, fun and a great chance to meet other players with similar interest.
Intro to Pickleball Clinic (Complimentary) First time playing pickleball and want to meet our pickleball professionals? Join us for an overview of the basic rules and terminology and enjoy supervised play by our pickleball professional. The skill level is for beginners or any member wanting to enjoy this complimentary introductory clinic one time.
Beginner/Novice Pickleball This clinic covers basic rules and terminology, and focuses on improving stroke techniques, body positioning, and court positioning. Recommended for beginner level players looking to improve for social play.
Intermediate/Advanced Pickleball This clinic covers improving stroke techniques, body positioning, court positioning, appropriate shot selection, and the various strategies associated with the game. Recommended for players who have been playing for a while and are comfortable on the court, but want to improve their game.
Pickleball Challenge - Up & Down the River Get ready for team play! Individuals will be randomly put into teams by the pro and opponents will be assigned as you play a set number of points. Keep winning to continue to move up the courts.

Sweet and Savory PIGS IN A BLANKET
With the fall and holiday seasons quickly approaching, give this sweet and savory recipe a try for all of your upcoming parties and events.

1. Preheat oven to crescent roll instructions. 2. Melt stick of butter in a pan on the stove or in the microwave, be sure not to burn the butter. 3. Once melted, add the honey and the brown sugar. Stir and pour ¾ of the mixture into a baking dish. 4. Open and cut crescent roll triangles in half from top point to base. 5. Roll the mini hot dogs in each triangle crescents and place in baking dish. 6. Once baking dish is full drizzle the remaining butter mixture over the mini hot dogs. 7. Sprinkled chopped nuts on top. 8. Place baking dish in oven and bake to crescent rolls instructions.
