Russell Schutzman YOUR HEAD COURT SPORTS TEACHING PROFESSIONAL

ntroducing our new Head Court Sports Teaching Professional, Russell Schutzman. Russell grew up on Long Island, New York before relocating to Sarasota in elementary school to pursue his dream of playing performance tennis. After playing on the Pro Tour, earning his first ATP points, and eventually hanging up his racquets, he remained on Tour as a private coach for aspiring players. He has most recently directed a Racquets Program in Westport, Connecticut that included Tennis, Pickleball, and Platform Tennis. In his free time, Russell enjoys working out, spending time with his family, and enjoying the active Florida lifestyle.

FEEL WELL: LOVE YOUR PET DAY Friday, February 2 | 4 p.m. Bark Park | $20 Per Member Join us for LOVE YOUR PET DAY at 4 p.m. at the Bark Park on Santa Caterina for a class in PET MASSAGE. Learn to massage your dog and experience the positive impact of healing touch. These techniques will improve conditions like anxiety, stress, blood pressure, digestion, joint disease and more. Share the LOVE this February with your best furry friend. The cost is $20 per Member or an unopened dog toy or food item that will be donated to Nate’s Animal Shelter.

In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager. Why did you choose Esplanade and where are you from? We relocated to Manatee County in 2005 and have been here ever since. Originally from New Jersey, we resided in Parrish at River Wilderness for 14 1/2 years. Now, we’ve been a part of Azario for two years. Embracing the Florida lifestyle has been a joy. Our journey began when we were warmly welcomed back to paradise, and we continue to extend that welcoming spirit to newcomers. What is your favorite place to travel? We have a passion for travel and explore destinations worldwide through cruises (both ocean and river), land tours, and family reunions in Pennsylvania at the Poconos. With visits to 75 countries, we’ve accumulated numerous favorite travel memories. Among them, our African Safari and Galapagos Islands stand out a bit more. What is your favorite food to prepare? We love eating everything! Since Gabby is Italian, and I have his mom’s “gravy” recipe, I make his favorite Italian dishes, just like his mom and grandma. What activities and events do you like to participate in at Azario? I learned Mahjong 17 years ago and developed a love for the game, so I enjoy attending the Mahjong Club. Gabby, on the other hand, loves tennis and pickleball, and we both make use of The Spa for my massages and Gabby’s haircuts. We enjoy Azario’s inspired Lifestyle events, especially the Signature Events, morning walks, Bingo, and Friendsgiving.

We experienced a wonderful turnout at our second annual Esplanade Pickleball Tournament for a cause - Pickled Pink. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Members from Esplanade at Azario, Esplanade at The Heights, and Esplanade at Skye Ranch participated in fun competition. Everyone came dressed in all pink and shared an effort to raise money for In the Pink, which is a nonprofit for women living with cancer ( jaxinthepink.com).
