Letter From the Lifestyle Team

Summer Has Arrived ...

Embrace the Sun-Kissed Season! Welcome to the hottest heat of the year, July and August! It’s the time when the pools fill up, and we appreciate air conditioning more than ever before. While the temperatures rise, so does our excitement of our summer activities that the future months bring! Let’s make the most of these hot summer days. You will be able to locate information regarding events and activities throughout this magazine, the online calendar, and within our Lifestyle team’s weekly email! Being active throughout those locations will keep you up to date on the fun that the future holds at Azario!

We have so much to celebrate in the coming months! To kick off the Fourth of July week, we’re hosting a Scoops and Slice Social, where we will be providing pizza and ice cream for our Members. Additionally, Members are welcome to give back to the community by participating in a volunteer opportunity with All Faiths Food Bank. Our Nine and Dine events will be continuing, offering golf, live entertainment, and food trucks for our Members to enjoy.

There’s plenty ahead for our Members to savor in this wonderful community, so take a peak ahead to learn what we have in store.

Our Lifestyle at Esplanade at Azario will continue to evolve as the community grows. The Lifestyle team encourages Members to share their interests and ideas for unique clubs and events, both on and off-site. We love to hear Member’s fresh ideas! Please do not hesitate to reach out to your Lifestyle team to brainstorm ideas for the future.

Furry Friends

Meet Chester LOVED BY GAIL & HOWARD BANNER

Chester Banner is an almost 4-year-old Malti-Poo who calls Montello Way home, where he resides with his loving parents, Gail and Howard Banner. Formerly a resident of Country Club East, Chester may miss his furry friends, but he’s always excited to make new ones in his current neighborhood of Azario. Before joining the Banner family, Gail and Howard lived in Albany, New York, where they raised their three children. Chester absolutely adores the visits from the five grandchildren, though he secretly cherishes the peace and quiet once they’re gone!

While Chester has ventured to the dog park a few times since arriving in Azario, he mostly enjoys lounging in the comfort of his cozy home during the day. With a passion for bedtime and a strong aversion to early mornings, his days are spent resting until the stars come out! If you spot Chester strolling the streets with his parents, don’t hesitate to stop and say hello! He’s always ready to greet new friends with a wagging tail and a warm smile.

HEAD PROFESSIONAL HONORED BY NORTH FLORIDA SECTION OF THE PGA

Head Golf Professional Michael Tuohy was recently honored by the North Florida Section of the PGA of America Southwestern Chapter as the 2024 Merchandiser of the Year for public golf courses, the 2024 Professional Development Award and the 2024 PGA Golf Professional of the Year. The awards were presented to Tuohy at the Chapter’s Annual Birdie-A-Thon fundraiser golf tournament that benefits local children’s charities. The Merchandiser of the Year Award recognizes PGA Professionals who have excelled as business persons/merchandisers in the promotion of golf, while the Player Development Award recognizes a PGA Professional for extraordinary and exemplary contributions and achievements in the area of player development.

The PGA Golf Professional of the Year is among the highest honors the Section and Chapters bestow on a Club Professional. It represents the individual whose contributions to the game exemplify the highest standards of the PGA Club Professional. The award embraces and considers the wide range of services executed on the job and in the community as a foundation for recognition as a “model” PGA Club Professional.

Join us now in celebrating Michael’s remarkable achievements. His dedication and hard work have led him to this momentous occasion, and we could not be more proud. Let’s give Michael the recognition he deserves! Our team truly feels privileged and grateful to have such an exceptional individual among us, whom we are extremely proud of. We believe that his remarkable contribution will undoubtedly steer us towards greater heights!

3RD ANNUAL SWC BIRDIE-A-THON

We are excited to share with you the results of the 2024 Annual Birdie-A-Thon. Esplanade at Azario, along with 15 other clubs, participated in the North Florida PGA Southwest Chapter Day of Giving at TPC Prestancia. Our Esplanade Azario team was represented by Michael Tuohy, PGA, Michael Hebert, PGA, Anthony Melchione, PGA Associate and Conrad Tidswell.

We are thrilled to inform you that prior to the event, Azario raised over $1,600 in flat donations. During the event, we played a 4-person scramble and played for $175 per birdie with the pledges we received. We are proud to announce that we made 14 birdies yesterday at $175 per birdie, totaling $2,450.00. This brings Esplanade at Azario’s total donations to almost $4,050!

The total donations raised from this event will come in around $63,000 for local children’s charities. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful event and to have contributed to a great cause. For those of you who made a flat donation or pledge, please submit your donation via the payment link below. If you would like to make a donation, please feel free to do so. Every little bit helps! Thank you for your continued support, and thank you for helping us make a positive impact in the lives of our local youth!

How to Clean Wine Glasses Properly

FEATURED IN HOMES AND GARDENS!

National Manager of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, Patrick Scully, was recently featured in Homes and Gardens, where he shared tips and best practices for keeping your wine glasses in pristine condition!

TIP! – Use a coffee filter to polish your glasses! – Patrick shares, “This is a hack we use in restaurants and hotels because coffee filters won’t leave any lint and absorb any leftover water. Even lint-free microfiber rags can leave fabric particles.”

Top Tips for Hand Drying Wine Glasses:

» Hold the glass by the stem versus the bowl so you don’t smudge the glass when wiping the exterior.

» If there is no stem – or it’s time to dry the inside – have a microfiber towel in the hand that is holding the bowl/glass if it’s not large enough to cover your hand.

» After drying, ensure there’s no residue by holding the glasses up to a light.

» After your glasses are dry, place them over a bowl of hot water and allow the steam to enter the glass and kiss the outside. Just be careful not to burn yourself. Then, give them a quick polish.

Ultimately, properly cleaning wine glasses is about more than just hygiene and aesthetics, it’s essential to preserve the flavor of each wine. “You need to clean your wine glasses after each use, especially when switching between different wines. This gets rid of any lingering residue that can change the flavor,” explains Patrick. “Different shapes, sizes, or materials can enhance or diminish the subtle flavors and aromas. Like how to store wine in your kitchen, quality glasses deserve quality care so true lovers of wine can fully savor each varietal.”
