Goodbye April showers, hello May flowers! Summer breezes and warm sunshine are abundant at Esplanade at Azario this time of the year! We welcome in Summer very soon and enjoy fun and relaxing events for our Members to enjoy! In case you missed some of our programming this spring, in March we attended a St Paddy’s Polo Match as a group of about 89 strong! We also celebrated a couple of culinary firsts at Azario with February’s first Annual Chili Cook-Off and our first installment of the Cooking and Cocktail Series with our National Director of Food, Beverage and Culinary Experience shaking it up for our Members! Following these culinary delights, we revisited our youth with our second Signature Event of the year, Prom Night, Forever Young! It was totally rad and of course we crowned a Positivity Prom King and a Positivity Prom Queen! Azario Members love to socialize and our Interest Groups and Social Clubs are active and abundant! Ladies Lunch Bunch alternates with Dinner Divas and is now a social club for our ladies at Azario! Have a great club idea? We would love to see you at our monthly Coffee and Conversation where you have the opportunity to share your interests and dreams of future clubs, events and more! Plans are still in the works for Poker, Euchre and Canasta clubs to join our line-up. Gentlemen, Men’s Happy Hour is a fun and relaxing group meeting on Sunday afternoon for casual

camaraderie. Indulge in self-care with our planned wellness events, Safe Sunscreen Soiree or OnSpot Dermatology Bus, community wide blood drive or take matters into your own hands and follow along with some disc stretches in recognition of National Posture Month! June welcomes summer and we have an All Aboard Summer Pool Party on deck as well as a Private LeBarge Sunset Cruise for World Ocean Day! Monthly Member meetings are always on the roster and Esplanade 101 is now Esplanade 101 Trivia! This new trivia twist on our classic Esplanade 101 allows Members to learn about the important and informative details typically included within the session, all while having some fun together! We encourage all Members to join us for Esplanade 101, as it is the key to your Lifestyle here at Azario. Lastly, we invite all Members to join us for Neighborhood News, a community update with your dedicated team, and Coffee and Conversation with your Lifestyle Manager and team to discuss all things Lifestyle! A beautiful Florida Summer is around the corner, with many opportunities to join inspiring events. I look forward to seeing you at our next gathering!

Katelynn Carlson NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

e are pleased to introduce your National Director of Marketing and Communications, Katelynn Carlson. Katelynn works hand in hand with Taylor Morrison Marketing to provide communications and marketing support to Esplanade communities nationwide. Out of all of the projects from last year, one of her favorites was the rebranding of the very publication you are enjoying right now, the Esplanade Lifestyle Magazine! She works closely with each local Lifestyle Manager to ensure that their Lifestyle experiences, Members, beloved community pets and the wonderful work they do to produce your Lifestyle programming is shared in a fun and engaging way. You have heard this sentiment throughout last year, but as Esplanade continues to span the nation, Katelynn looks forward to even more ways to spotlight the amazing things our local teams are doing at each community to bring the Esplanade Lifestyle experience to life each day. Katelynn earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in the field of Communications and Marketing from The University of Central Florida. After graduating, she spent her first year as an intern at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida, working as a social media and content coordinator helping to tell the amazing family stories and acts of kindness of local volunteers. In 2012, she was thrilled to join The Walt Disney Company as a Communications and Marketing professional at the Walt Disney World Resort, and spent the next decade growing her skills and knowledge and making magic in a variety of marketing roles. Prior to joining the Evergreen Team, she spent 6 years of her Disney career working to establish, execute and sustain a communications and marketing foundation for the Members of Disney’s one-of-a-kind resort residential community, Golden Oak. She partnered closely with their neighbors, the Four Seasons Resort Orlando to stay engaged with the structure of their exclusive, luxury homeowner experience, The Four Seasons Private Residences. With this knowledge and expertise, the transition to support the growing Esplanade brand seemed like the perfect fit! When she’s not busy finding ways to innovate and create in the world of Esplanade marketing and communications, Katelynn loves to spend time at her home in Orlando, Florida with her two rescue kitties, Lincoln and Harper or out around town with her friends. As a native to Orlando, she is blessed to have sustained friendships as far back as kindergarten, with many of those friends still living in the area. “My family and friends are everything to me,” she shares. “I have a wonderful, close relationship with my parents who actually live 10 minutes up the road, and it’s such a blessing.” She loves to stay active and tries to start each morning with exercise and movement, usually at her F45 gym in Central Florida. She is also passionate about storytelling through images and began her own wedding photography business 6 years ago! When we asked her to explain something she’s most thankful for so far in 2022, she shares: “To be honest, I’m just tremendously thankful to wake up every day and work with a team of people who I truly care about and enjoy being around. Our Esplanade national team, and the team members that make up our local teams, are so passionate, creative, and driven. It’s a privilege to work alongside them. On a personal note, I’d like to get on an international flight again, for leisure travel! I’m not sure where I want to head to next but Switzerland has always been high on the list!”

What breed/type are your pets and how old? Siblings? Apollo is a 3 1/2-year-old Havanese. Jamie is his sister and enjoys Esplanade’s golf and pickleball when visiting. What are his most unique qualities or something funny he does? Apollo can do a lot of tricks, he loves to dig in the sand and go into our West Coast beach for a swim. When you travel, do your pets join you or do you have a favorite caretaker? He has found a nice pet sitter in Bradenton. What is something naughty that your pet is always doing? He would never do anything naughty although he would sneak up and sniff people’s legs. He transitioned very well to our complex when he fell in love with the builder of our home … and he very much enjoys Elizabeth’s treats at the Sales Gallery. He knew when Billy’s truck was on the street. What is his favorite treat? He loves his lamb lung filets and we still ship his Hulu Lula turkey from Goodness Gracious in Boston.

y husband, Blake, daughter, Britni and I volunteer at The Dream Center in Bradenton. We built our new home in the Esplanade at Azario neighborhood and eagerly looked for ways to serve our new community. We found the The Dream Center, which provides a safe place for school aged kids from low-income families to come after school and receive a hot meal, homework help, outdoor playtime and attention from volunteers. Florida Panthers From the National Wildlife Federation

lorida panthers are a subspecies of the mountain lion. They are large, tan cats— their bodies are mainly covered in tawny-beige fur, except for the whitish-gray belly and chest. Black markings decorate the tip of the tail, ears, and around the snout. Florida panthers have a crooked tail and a unique patch of fur on the back. Florida panthers are about six to seven feet long, with males growing bigger than females. The historic range of the Florida panther is the southeastern U.S. Today the only place they roam is the southwestern tip of Florida. They utilize a diversity of warm climate habitat, living in wetlands, swamps, upland forests, and stands of saw palmetto. Florida panthers are carnivores. They are skilled at hunting white-tailed deer, feral hogs, raccoons, and other medium-sized mammals and reptiles. Florida panthers also stalk birds. At birth, the kittens are born covered in dark spots, which help camouflage them under forest debris. The kittens are vulnerable to predators, especially right after birth when they are blind. As they develop, the spots fade away. The kittens stay with their mother for about a year and a half before they leave to form their own territories. Florida panthers live about 12 years in the wild, but with such a small population of them left, they are very susceptible to disease, genetic disorders, and car accidents. Today there are only 120-130 Florida panthers left in the wild. The subspecies is so critically endangered that it is vulnerable to just about every major threat. In addition, construction causes habitat loss, and roads and highways pose a danger to panthers attempting to cross. The cats are also faced with mercury pollution and diseases such as feline leukemia. A general fear and misunderstanding of Florida panthers prevents reintroductions to new areas.
