Here at Esplanade at Azario, we have much to be thankful for and every Member here truly makes this community a special place to live. With the opening of the Wellness Center and Bahama Bar, our community has been rapidly growing, and Members can now conveniently access fitness, wellness, and culinary options right in the heart of their neighborhood. The Holiday Season is upon us, and your Lifestyle team is excited to offer an array of festive activities to get everyone into the holiday spirit. All Closed Members are invited to our annual It’s a Wonderful Lifestyle Signature Event. This is a special night of celebration in a winter wonderland on Saturday, December 9. From Friendsgiving to a Holiday Light Trolley Tour, we will have something for everyone all season long! Before the hustle and bustle begins, take some time to review our event calendar and plan which thoughtfully curated events you will attend. Please register for events in

advance when possible for the Lifestyle team’s planning purposes. Have an activity suggestion? In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager. Why did you choose Esplanade and where are you from? We moved to Azario from Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. We were lucky to have purchased before the market went crazy. Prior to Esplanade, I lived in Pittsburgh my whole life. My favorite thing about living in Azario is the people and the community we have created. There is always something fun to do, and great friends to do it with. Or you can just ride up to the Bahama Bar and find someone to talk to. What is your favorite place to travel? We do not have a favorite place, but we like cruising. We hope to plan a Mediterranean cruise soon and a river cruise is a bucket list thing after we retire. What is your favorite food to prepare? I am not a cook, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would always be breakfast. I could eat it any time of the day. What activities and events do you like to participate in at Azario? I’m involved in Pickleball, Bunco, a couple of card groups, and Mahjong. I sign up for many of the organized activities, such as Bocce and Trivia, if it enables me to socialize with friends and meet new people.

We were treated to creamy flavors of ice cream and sorbet as The Fat Donkey took over the Sales Gallery. Members were able to sample every flavor and enjoy their favorite on a cone or cup.

An assortment of tasty classic gingerbread decorations and gingerbread house kits will be provided by the Lifestyle team. Each participant is allowed to bring one additional edible decoration to use in the context.

TROLLEY LIGHT TOUR Thursday, December 14 | 6 p.m. Mad Fish Grill, Sarasota Take a trolley around town to see the best holiday lights in the city. It is in this spirit that we are pleased to invite you to our first annual health and wellness event, Fall in Love with Wellness: Under the Stars. Astronomers will teach you about the solar system, give you a close look at meteorites that fell to Earth thousands of years ago, and explore the geometric dynamics of the Earth, Moon, and Sun. As darkness falls, you’ll journey through the cosmos, viewing planets, stars, and star clusters through a series of motorized and hand-driven telescopes-and maybe even get to push the buttons yourself! We will begin with an outdoor yoga class at our beautiful water range followed by a night under the stars with the most fabulous views.

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 1 onion, finely chopped 1 teaspoon salt 1 green pepper, cored and finely chopped 3 cloves garlic, minced 2 tablespoons tomato paste 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 tablespoon cumin 1 teaspoon smoked paprika 1 teaspoon oregano 1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin puree 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, drained 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes with their juices 1 cup frozen corn kernels 1/2 cup vegetable broth Avocado, sour cream, cilantro, jalapeno, green onion, and tortilla chips for topping (or toppings of your choice)

DIRECTIONS 1. In a large deep pot, warm the olive oil over medium heat. 2. Add the onion with 1 teaspoon salt and cook for about 3 minutes, until translucent. 3. Add the pepper and garlic then continue to cook for 2 more minutes. 4. Next add the spices and tomato paste. 5. Stir together and cook for 2 minutes. 6. Add the pumpkin puree, diced tomatoes, drained beans, corn and vegetable broth. 7. Bring to a low boil and cook for about 10 minutes, until heated through. 8. Add salt to taste, if desired. 9.
