Happy Spring!

Spring has sprung at Esplanade at The Heights! It is hard to believe we are already almost a quarter of the way into the year, but it has been packed full of so many fun outings and opportunities! Your Lifestyle team has been working hard to provide a variety of engaging social events and activities to give you an opportunity to connect with your neighbors and make our Esplanade at The Heights community flourish as we enjoy the winter months.

As more and more people go under contract and close on their homes, the bigger our social life gets! Please remember that as soon as you go under contract with Taylor Morrison on this property, you are invited to participate in all Lifestyle events and activities. The Lifestyle program is tailored to your interests, so do not hesitate to reach out to us with your comments and suggestions for our events in the future.

What a great start to 2023 we had! We broke in the Resort Amenity Center with fitness classes, monthly clubs and

events. Members are so happy they can relax and unwind in our Resort Pool and cozy up in the fireside seating on those cooler nights. We kicked the year off with our first First Friday, introduced monthly Team Trivia Nights and sipped serenity at our Seaside Social.

Moving further into the year we are excited for all of the fun coming up! Sport Court socials are on the docket, monthly bingo nights, a Havana Nights Signature Event and more!

Victoria Ochoa YOUR PICKLEBALL PRO

Victoria is a PPR Certified Pickleball Trainer. She is well known in the Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch area, where she gives private classes. She is a creative and versatile teaching professional with over 20 years of experience teaching different modalities from languages to yoga and fitness, and now Pickleball. Her passion is developing and implementing initiatives that generate wellbeing and building fun communities around health and fitness. She has two children in college - one in medical school and the other in business school. She currently lives in Palmetto in another Esplanade community.

The National Wildlife® Photo Contest, which began over five decades ago, celebrates the power of photography to advance conservation and connect both photographers and viewers with wildlife and the outdoors. Furry Friends Meet Sophie

My cat’s name is Sophie and she came to us when she was approximately 8 years old. She has been with us for 6 years. I am told it is rare to have an orange female cat, and she is indeed a very unique cat. She was an outdoor kitty prior to coming to us and had many outdoor adventures. At some point in her young life, she was shot and still has a buckshot in her rear leg. Since coming to us, she has been a much loved and adored indoor princess, our royal Sophie. She loves to snooze in the sunshine on our lanai, joins me at all my zoom conferences – I think she thinks we’re having a party and wants to join – and is such a wonderful addition to our family. We all love her dearly.

It’s a Wonderful Lifestyle SIGNATURE EVENT

We celebrated our Wonderful Lifestyle at Esplanade at The Heights! With a jazz band, bites to eat and great conversation, it was a wonderful party to get everyone into the holiday spirit with the friends of the community.

Pickleball CLINIC

We welcomed Phantom Pickleball for a weekend bootcamp to get our court sports started at Esplanade at The Heights! What a great turnout the bootcamp was and got Members wanting even more… something popular in the pickleball community!

Cookie Exchange CLUB

December was full of getting into the holiday spirit while enjoying all of the treats! Our Cookie Exchange Club, led by our very own Joan Minarich and Cindy Brylinsky was a great turnout for our cookie lovers!

“Noon”

Year’s Eve PARTY

We cheersed to the “Noon” year at 12 p.m. on New Year’s Eve with mimosas, juice and brunch! What a special way to ring in 2023 with our closest neighbors. Members got to enjoy the rest of their nights in their own special way.

Team Trivia NIGHT

We invited our host for a night of Trivia! Members split into teams and worked together to win the grand prize. We had such a great turnout we’ll make it a monthly event!

National Florida Day KAYAKING

We set out on another kayak excursion with our favorites at Kayak SRQ! They took us through the beautiful mangrove tunnels and taught us about so much history in the beautiful city we live in.

National PIE DAY

We cheated on our New Year’s Resolutions for this competition! We had pies of all kinds brought by the Members of our neighborhood. From coconut key lime and lemon pie to chocolate pudding pie, we all left with a sugar rush! Congratulations to Kelly McCloy and her delicious pecan cheesecake for bringing home the grand prize!

Pickleball MEET & GREET

Our first pickleball social was a hit and got so many people involved in the latest and greatest craze! Members enjoyed a short introduction to pickleball followed by instruction and friendly competition and left them all loving the game even more!

Meditative Sound Bowl Closing Ceremony

To assist in staying present and grounded, as well as taking a moment each day to share appreciation for our Members, we have implemented a ceremonial closing procedure with the use of sound meditation. Our Lifestyle team will begin the tradition of closing with a brief note from a meditative sound bowl, signifying the end of another day. Staying true to Esplanade’s Wellness Ecosystem, sound meditation is a part of your spiritual wellness. This tool of mindfulness meditation uses sound to focus the mind and reverberate stress away. Sound and vibration help realign the frequencies of the body, bringing us back to a state of balance, allowing our bodies to relax, soothe our souls, and heal our energy. We hope this new meditative addition will enhance your wellness and zen, anchor your mind in the present moment and allow you to let go of distractions.

Spring Strawberry Salad with Feta

INGREDIENTS

» 6 cups lettuce, any kind

» 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

» 1 cup red grapes, halved

» ½ cup walnuts, chopped (or candied walnuts)

» 2 tablespoons dried cranberries, chopped

» ¼ cup feta cheese, crumbled

THE DRESSING

» ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

» 1 large lemon, zested and juiced (about ¼ cup)

» 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup

» 1 teaspoon dijon mustard

» Sea salt and black pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large salad bowl, combine lettuce, strawberries, grapes, walnuts, cranberries, and feta cheese. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

2. In another mixing bowl, whisk (or blend) olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, honey, dijon, and salt.

3. Refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to serve.

4. To serve, allow vinaigrette to sit at room temperature a few minutes if it’s too thick from being chilled. Toss salad with vinaigrette and serve.
