Summer is in full swing!

July brings a celebration of our beautiful country! The weather has heated up, the days are longer, and summer will say farewell before you know it; fall is around the corner. Fuel up the barbecue and soak up some Florida sunshine as Lifestyle shares exciting, curated Member events to celebrate!

Our gorgeous community continues to grow! Please know that as soon as you go under contract with Taylor Morrison on this property, you are invited to participate in all Lifestyle events and activities. The Lifestyle program is tailored to your interests, so do not hesitate to reach out to us with your comments and suggestions for our events in the future.

Members have suggested adding an additional Aqua Fitness Class per week and we have listened. We now have classes led by your instructor, Lacie, on Mondays from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

We encourage all newly closed Members to join us for Esplanade 101, as it is the key to your Lifestyle here at Esplanade by the Islands. We also invite all Members to join us for Neighborhood News, a community update with your dedicated team, and Coffee & Conversation with me, your Lifestyle Manager, and team to discuss your Resort Lifestyle.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I was given is to work hard and never forget where you come from. Enjoy your successes and appreciate how far you have come.

Tell us about your family and current or past professions?

We have been married for almost 54 years and have two children, a son and daughter, as well as three grandchildren that all reside in Connecticut. Our daughter is a homemaker with a 19-year-old son and a loving husband. She loves to visit anytime, but especially when the weather is cold in Connecticut. Our son retired as a Corrections Officer at the age of 41 and currently has a second career as a Firefighter/ EMT. He is also a part time EMT and a volunteer Fire Chief for the Oswegatchie Fire Department. Our son, his wife and their two children reside in Waterford, Connecticut.

What made you want to call Esplanade home?

We had a home on Marco Island for 21 years that was sold in August 2021. Esplanade by the Islands has exactly what we want, and we love being a part of a community with many activities for Members, where we can enjoy socializing with all our neighbors and friends.

Are you full-time or part-time Members?

QWe are full-time Members and during the summer months we plan to spend a month or two in our home state of Connecticut enjoying our family and grandchildren. Also, during the year we enjoy traveling on a cruise ship and visiting our favorite islands in the Caribbean.

What are some of your favorite Lifestyle events you’ve attended and hobbies or activities you’re interested in?

AWe have lived in the community for nine months and try to attend most programs our Lifestyle Manager plans for us. We especially enjoy the social events where food is served. We look forward to more of the Cooking and Cocktail Series in the future. Our hobbies include swimming in the new Cabana pool and walking the community on a daily basis for cardio exercise. We also like to cook our daily meals and try new recipes on unsuspecting friends and family.

What is your favorite things to do with visitors?

When we have out-of-town visitors our favorite things to do are explore 5th Avenue South in downtown Naples and visit beaches on Marco Island. We also take visitors to lunch at open air restaurants on the water on Marco Island.

We have been retired for 12 years. In Risto’s early career he was employed by General Dynamics in Groton, CT building nuclear submarines, retiring in 1995. Before his retirement from EB, he trained as a 911 Dispatcher for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and our local police department.

Risto began his work career at the age of 18 and did not attend college. However, while employed at General Dynamics he was offered the opportunity to attend college and obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Risto completed his degree program in five years and graduated Cum Laude in 1985.

Linda was a hairdresser and barista for many years before we moved to Marco Island in 2000. Once in Florida we changed careers and became retail managers for Walgreen’s on Marco Island until our retirement.

Cinco de Mayo FIESTA

Cinco de Mayo was a festive celebration with mariachi music and margaritas. A chip and dip station accompanied good ole tacos and burritos with camaraderie shared by Members.

Yappy HOUR

Yappy Hour was a “wagging” great time. We gathered with our furry friends at our very own Bark Park. Fun was had by all.

Cooking & Cocktail Series ART OF SUSHI & SAKE

The event was led by our very own National Manager of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, Patrick Scully. He taught eager Members how to roll sushi with a new shared expert technique. Winners took home special sushi gifts.

Havana Nights SIGNATURE EVENT

The Players Club at Lely Resort was a beautiful and inviting venue for our Signature Event, Havana Nights. Members sipped on a welcome mojito while listening to the sounds of Spanish guitarist Havey. Ernesto, our onsite cigar roller, was amazing with his talents. Members were able to capture the memories of the evening in our themed photobooth and photo opt Havana themed decor. After enjoying an elegant buffet dinner, everyone hit the dance floor with rhythms played by Jimmy and Rhonda Lee Dou.

Any Member wishing to develop one should contact your Lifestyle Manager to receive information and an application. Depending on the group size and activity, the Sales Gallery may be a suitable space for your gatherings.

Poker, Mahjong, Canasta and so many more! We are looking to organize a variety of card groups as well as Mahjong and Pickleball. Shy Wolf Sanctuary

Members enjoyed a private tour of the Shy Wolf Sanctuary, a rescue and animal sanctuary offering educational programs and therapeutic animal encounters for more than twenty years. Educational programs range from peacefully co-existing with wildlife to advocating for the animals that cannot speak for themselves.

The story of Shy Wolf started in 1993 with founders Nancy and Kent Smith. They began taking in animals that were not accepted by government animal services, wildlife rehabilitators, or zoos. Their first rescue was a Black Asian Leopard, Moondance. In 2001, Shy Wolf became a 501(c)(3) charity with an independent board of directors

and volunteers who have helped it grow to what it is today. Shy Wolf Sanctuary is a refuge for a cougar, numerous wolves and wolfdogs, as well as several exotic species of fox from as far South as Brazil and as far North as the Arctic Circle and West as North Africa.

Classic Daiquiri

Inspired by the beautiful island country of Cuba, celebrate the summer season with this classic cocktail.

INGREDIENTS

» 2 ounces light rum

» 1 ounce lime juice (freshly squeezed)

» ¾ ounce demerara simple syrup

» Lime twist

DIRECTIONS

1. Add the rum, lime juice and syrup to a cocktail shaker.

2. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well chilled.

3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.

4. Garnish with a fresh lime twist.

Celebrating Your Resort Lifestyle

Beginning in April, the Esplanade Resort Experiences team hosted a series of Debut Celebrations across multiple Esplanade communities, giving over 1,700 Members the opportunity to meet with the team of highly talented leaders dedicated to elevating how they live and connect within the community they call home.

Both informative and fun, Members browsed interactive experience stations demonstrating the array of concierge-level services and Lifestyle programming being introduced as a part of the Resort Lifestyle at Esplanade.

Those who attended got a sneak peek at some of the upcoming national programs being developed by the Esplanade Resort Experiences leadership team.

The spirited “Salute” station was hosted by your National Manager of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, Patrick Scully along with other culinary leaders supporting the Resort Lifestyle. Members got a taste of what’s to come in the world of culinary, including a new SIP Wine program.

National Director, Liz Thompson and CJ Hamlin, National Manager of Lifestyle & Concierge showed Members how they can embrace their inner explorer and uncover what’s to come for travel opportunities with the recently launched luxury travel program, Destinations by Esplanade. Members also explored a wide range of concierge services through Esplanade Concierge, further elevating the signature Esplanade Lifestyle.

Crystal Steere, National Manager of Spa, Fitness & Wellness showcased how to discover your zen with uniquely curated wellness offerings, with samples of the Esplanade private label bath & body care collection, The Spa Retreat. As the event continued, Members mingled and danced to live entertainment, sampled delicious food and beverage and enjoyed a raffle drawing with prizes, facilitated by Nathan Stith, National Community Management Director

It was truly special to connect with Members in person, and have the opportunity to be present within the communities we are so passionate about supporting. We hope you are excited about even more national programs officially launching throughout the year.”
