Letter From the Lifestyle Team

It’s Time to Spring Forward!

Welcome to the end of the first quarter of the year! How did this happen, you ask? The good old cliché, “time flies when you’re having fun,” that’s how! If you’re still waiting to close on your new home, our Lifestyle programming is actively ready for you to take the opportunity to meet your new neighbors before moving in!

All our events are seeing active participation and it’s exciting watching the community grow monthly! It is very important that you are staying connected to the Lifestyle emails that go out on Saturday mornings so you don’t miss any of our exciting offerings! Events are starting to fill quickly, so be sure you register as events are announced so you don’t miss out on any of the FUN!

Speaking of FUN, we have a lot of it jam packed into the next two months! Our Concert on the Lawn series will return on Sunday, March 19 with The Real Deal Dueling Pianos live on the main stage! This is an all-request show, so bring your chairs and coolers and come on out for an evening you won’t soon forget. I’ve had several Members request a Wine &

Canvas Paint class, so we have one scheduled with local artist Jen Norqual on March 22! Other highlights include our Havana Nights Signature Event in April, the return of our Cooking & Cocktail Series with the Art of Sushi and Sake and a VIP Tour of the Shy Wolf Sanctuary for a limited number of our VIP Members.

Don’t forget, you need to register for events, activities, and fitness programming via our website (esplanadebytheislandslifestyle. com). Unfortunately, we do not accept reservations through our community Facebook page or email. Once you register for an event, you will receive your tickets via email immediately after you submit your payment. Please note, that every event has cancellation deadlines that need to be met if you want to be refunded after you purchase tickets.

Lastly, don’t forget to “spring forward” on March 12! I look forward to sharing more experiences with you soon!

Furry Friends Meet Lenny & Molly

Tell us about your pets’ breeds, ages and birthdays.

They are both Cavapoos, which is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. Molly is primarily white, and she turned 9 years old this past September 22. Lenny will be 9 on May 21.

What are your pets’ favorite pastimes?

Lenny’s favorite pastime is chasing airplanes while he barks. He also LOVES to watch TV and bark at any animal he sees on TV. Molly’s favorite pastime is finding a nice blanket and curling up for a good nap. She also LOVES asking for and receiving treats for herself and her brother.

What do they get reprimanded for the most?

Lenny gets reprimanded for his nonsensical barking. Molly gets reprimanded because she’s got a good nose and can always find food in places it shouldn’t be, such as mom’s carry on. She had chocolate in there and Molly found it and ate it all up leaving just the wrappers.

What are your pets’ best characteristics?

Their best characteristics include they are super cute, super “fluffy,” love all humans and most dogs they meet.

Tell us about the time you welcomed your pets to your loving home. We used to take our daughters to the pet store to play with the

puppies. I swore I was never getting a dog because I owned two cats. One day, Derek announced he bought Molly. I was so scared and freaked out because I never had a dog before. I was smitten and fell in love with Molly and then began looking for her brother a few months later. I found Lenny online and thought he was so cute that I bought him sight unseen and had him driven from Ohio to New Jersey. In July 2014, when he arrived, he ran up the steps and rolled all the way back down and that was the beginning of our relationship and Lenny and Molly are a totally bonded pair!

Rose & Cucumber Eye Mask

INGREDIENTS

» Half a cucumber

» 1 ounce rose water

» Blender

» Cotton rounds

DIRECTIONS

Cut cotton rounds in a half-moon shape. In a blender, puree the cucumber and rose water until liquefied. Transfer to a bowl soaking the rounds in the mixture, squeezing the excess, then re-soaking for optimal absorption. Store the extra soaked cotton rounds in a resealable bag in the freezer for future use. Thaw the eye pads 10 minutes before use making sure they’re still cool to help reduce puffiness. To apply, place the half-moon eye pad underneath the eye close to the bottom lash line. Leave on for 10–15 minutes.

Tammy & Randy Crenshaw

The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.

take them to Tigertail Beach. Everyone seems to love the uniqueness of crossing the lagoon and then, of course, the incredible assortment of shells to collect.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received or given?

Randy’s dad taught him to “Think good thoughts and do good deeds.” This shows up in how Randy lives his life on a daily basis.

Tell us about your family, pets and your current or past professions.

Why did you choose Naples/Esplanade by the Islands?

We had a home in Esplanade at Hacienda Lakes for a few years and were excited when we heard the plans for Esplanade by the Islands. It was a big decision to sell and move here, but we are so glad we did!

Are you a full-time Member? If not, where else do you spend your time?

QWe live in Naples part time. We spend most of our time at our home in Islamorada in the Florida Keys! However, you can also find us at our home in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Our suitcases are always packed! There’s so much about each of these communities that we love that it is often difficult to choose where to be and when. Randy says, “Tammy always has FOMO!”

AWhat Lifestyle programs are you most interested in? Also, tell us your hobbies.

We love the Lifestyle programs and hate it when we aren’t here and miss out on something fun. We have participated in several Cooking & Cocktail Series events and have really enjoyed them. It will be amazing when our Culinary Center is completed, and we can have even more of these. Watching and learning about all the different birds in our community is something we also really enjoy. It was great when Carri arranged to have a Naturalist take us on a walking tour. We couldn’t believe how many different bird species we were able to identify. Most of our other hobbies center around the water.

What is your favorite thing to do with visitors?

Our favorite thing to do with out-of-town guests is to

Randy and Tammy married 10 years ago, which was a few years after the passing of Randy’s wife. Randy has two daughters who both live in South Florida with their families. Tammy’s daughter and her family live outside of Washington, D.C. where her son-in-law is one of the Capitol Police Officers who was unfortunately seriously injured in the January 6 riots. He is on the mend and hoping to return to full duty soon! Together Tammy and Randy are blessed with eight grandchildren. Randy is retired from Baptist Health of South Florida where he was an electrician. Today his job is to take care of his wife! Tammy is an Executive at First Horizon Bank, a Regional Bank that is in the process of being acquired by TD Bank.

Tell us something that may surprise people.

In his younger days, Randy was a professional musician. For the first time in Randy’s entire life, he is without a boat (and driving Tammy crazy)! Not to worry … the new boat is on order, and it can’t arrive soon enough!
