Hello Fall!

It’s hard to believe we are already in September. Though Florida may not have the traditional changing of seasons, we are still looking forward to cooler weather and fun fall-themed activities as we head into the next couple of months!

Our gorgeous community continues to grow. Please know that as soon as you go under contract with Taylor Morrison on this property, you are invited to participate in all Lifestyle events and activities. The Lifestyle program is tailored to your interests, so do not hesitate to reach out to us with your comments and suggestions for our events in the future.

We encourage all newly closed Members to join us for Esplanade 101, as it is the key to your Lifestyle here at Esplanade by the Islands. We also invite all Members to join us for Neighborhood News, a community update with your dedicated team, and Coffee and Conversation with your Lifestyle Manager and team to discuss your Resort Lifestyle.

The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people who call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.

Mike and Brenda Walker moved here from Millersville, Pennsylvania, which is a suburb of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In the Millersville area there are many Amish farmers that still use horses and buggies as transportation. Naple’s traffic and Millersville traffic is vastly different.

Mike served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired after 40 years in the financial industry and served on numerous community boards. Brenda retired as Supervisor of Counseling for a local Lancaster County school district. She also taught Reading, Gifted Education and Social Studies.

The couple loves to travel, enjoy gardening and have been very active in the Lancaster community. Brenda still teaches LIFT classes for Penn State and is a Penn State Master Gardener. Lancaster horticulture and Naple’s horticulture are also very different. Brenda also loves reading and hopes to become involved in the Esplanade community Book Club.

Bella, our mini–English Doodle, loves walking the paths in Esplanade by the Islands. A fun fact about us is that we owned a home on Chesapeake Bay and enjoyed boating and entertaining.

We are two lovable Maltese dogs who love living in Naples. This was a great surprise to our mom since Charlie wanted to go outside when the snow would fall in New York. Our mom and dad feel so fortunate to have us in their lives. We are retired champion show dogs that were lovingly placed in our new home by Beverly and Wayne (aka Grandma Beverly and Grandpa Wayne) of Bevway Maltese. When we are not getting into mischief at home you can see us walking around the neighborhood or in our sweet ride, our dog carriage. Mom’s afraid of the alligators, so on long walks in we go. Stop us and say hello!

Creating a Bee Garden

Bees are pollinators and incredibly important wildlife. Bees visit flowers to feed on nectar and gather pollen to feed their young. In doing so bees spread some of that pollen and fertilize or “pollinate” the flowers, which then form seeds that become the next generation of plants. Those seeds are often packaged in fruits, berries and nuts that then become food for other animals, from birds to reptiles to mammals (including us). Those animals then disperse the seeds away from the parent plant in their droppings, which serve as fertilizer. Here are four things you can do in your own yard or other garden space to support native bees:

Recent Events

Groundbreaking CEREMONY

This signature Esplanade community will be home to an array of vibrant spaces and unparalleled Resort amenities that we know you are excited to begin enjoying. In July, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the site of these planned amenities, and all that’s to come here at Esplanade by the Islands! Members participated in a shovel ceremony, champagne toast and mingled in the Sales Gallery while enjoying mimosas, light bites and live entertainment.

Sailing into the Sunset CATAMARAN

Esplanade Members enjoyed a relaxing catamaran excursion aboard the Sweet Liberty of Naples. With beautiful rainbow filled skies and dolphins jumping nearby, we took in all the sites of the inner bay. The sunset was captured while sailing along the Gulf of Mexico with photo opts to catch.

STEPPING STONE

What a fun art event with our furry friends! Everyone (meaning the furry ones) were all so well behaved and able to get their projects perfected. First came a group of our Members’ smaller dogs, followed shortly thereafter by the larger. This pawprint is cemented in decorated stone that will last forever to put in place in their yard or garden.

Luau by the POOL

Aloha! What an amazing time we had at the community Luau event held at our Satellite pool. A presentation was given by Sunset Fireflow Entertainment, which elevated the entire feel of the night. A DJ played tropical music as everyone celebrated and danced. Rip Tide Brewery was a great addition to our beautiful catered experience. Members have memorable photos to add to their collection!

Fourth of July BBQ BASH

Members enjoyed a festive gathering in celebration of the Fourth of July with entertainment by an infamous local classic rock band Incorrigibles while indulging in a variety of BBQ choices catered by Gator Creek BBQ Company. There were cold brews from Bone Hook Brewing Company and a live presentation given by Ray the Trapper with his own exotic alligators and animals. Then Members cooled off with a refreshing Italian ice dessert at Rita’s Catering station!

Hurricane Preparedness SEMINAR

Back in June, we held a Hurricane Preparedness Seminar for the Members to attend. Hurricane season in Florida continues through November 20 and helpful hurricane preparedness resources are still available for you to pick up in the Lifestyle den at the Sales Gallery. We are here to help with any concerns or questions you may have!

Keep Collier Beautiful is a call on all Collier County residents to join in the annual international Coastal Cleanup! Organized in partnership with Keep Collier Beautiful, Collier County Board of County Commissioners, the City of Naples, and Waste Management, this signature event is a part of the Ocean Conservancy’s annual International Coastal Cleanup that brings together volunteer from countries around the world to remove trash and debris from waterways that lead to our oceans. This is a community wide effort to help protect our environment. We will be meeting at the Sales Gallery to carpool to the location. More details to follow.

We’re bringing back the ‘80s for Esplanade in Color. Dress in your favorite look from the ‘80s and get ready to dance the night away with live entertainment, a blast from the past game room, a private Glowman show, and many photo opts. The Perfect Pasta

Your National Director of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, Patrick Scully, along with your local Lifestyle team invite you to join us for our next installment of the Cooking and Cocktail series: The Perfect Pasta.

This tasting experience will last approximately 1.5 hours and will include an engaging demonstration on how to prepare an authentic italian pasta dish with two accompanying sauce recipes. You will also learn tips and tricks on the culinary art of creating and rolling homemade dough into pasta-noodle perfection, and what wines pair best with certain pasta dishes.

Roasted Butternut Squash & Apple Soup with Thyme, Pecans, and Crème Fraîche

Serving Size: 6 - 8

INGREDIENTS

» 2 medium butternut squash, peeled and diced

» 3 granny smith apples, peeled and diced

» 6 tablespoons olive oil, divided

» Kosher salt

» 1 red onion, chopped

» 1 large shallot, chopped

» 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped, plus a few extra sprigs for garnish

» 4 cups good quality store-bought chicken stock

» 1 (8 ounce) container crème fraîche

» 1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar

» Pinch cayenne pepper

» ½ cup pecans, ground fine in a food processor

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Line two large baking sheets and one small baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spread chopped butternut squash in a single, even layer on the two large baking trays. Spread chopped apple in a single layer on the

small baking sheet. Drizzle squash and apples with 2-3 tablespoons olive oil. Season generously with Kosher salt and toss to coat. Roast squash in oven for 20-30 minutes, until tender. Roast apples for only 15-20 minutes, until tender.

2. In a large stockpot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add red onion and shallot, season with Kosher salt, and cook until softened, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes. Add roasted squash, roasted apple, thyme, and stock. Season with Kosher salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.

3. Using an immersion blender, blend soup until very smooth. Alternatively, place soup in a blender (in batches if necessary), and blend until smooth (just be sure to securely hold top on blender with hot soup in there).

4. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine crème fraîche, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Season with Kosher salt.

5. When ready to serve, divide soup between bowls, top with a dollop of crème fraîche, and sprinkle with ground pecans. Garnish with thyme sprigs, if desired. Devour immediately.

Doing more of what makes us happy is called the key to life by many. Share your passion and take the first step by creating a club or group today!

Meet fellow Members with similar interests by creating or joining an Interest Group or Club! Any Member wishing to develop one should contact your Lifestyle Manager to receive information and an application. The Lifestyle Manager will then help to facilitate promotion of activities developed by the Members. Depending on the group size and activity, the Sales Gallery may be a suitable space for your gatherings.

New Clubs

Poker, Mahjong, Canasta and so many more! We are looking to organize a variety of card groups as well as Mahjong and Pickleball. If you are interested in creating one of these social clubs, please reach out to your Lifestyle Manager. We need a minimum amount of interested parties for each group in order to host properly. Be sure to sign up with your Lifestyle team if you would like to play and stay tuned to your weekly Lifestyle emails for updates.
