Letter From the Lifestyle Team

Happy New Year!

What a wonderful start to 2023! As we begin the new year, we are happy to announce our transition to Troon management and all the amazing changes that come along with this growth. As far as Lifestyle goes, not much is changing, but there are many awesome activities coming up these next few months that I hope everyone gets involved in.

I am so happy to be part of the Esplanade at Tradition family and I look forward to hosting and joining in on the upcoming activities we’ll be hosting on a regular basis. We are adding cultural events, more themed events, off site tours, and more regular card and Mah Jongg games for your enjoyment!

On January 9 we will connect with the community as we celebrate Law Enforcement Appreciation Day with Coffee for the Cops. The Lifestyle Team will be making care packages for the local police officers and offering for them to enjoy coffee and donuts with Members, as we show our gratitude and recognize the day-to-day challenges they experience.

If you recently moved in, Welcome Home! Join us at our monthly meetings to learn all about your new community and what we have to offer. If you are new and need some additional help getting acclimated to the community please don’t hesitate to contact me. Let me know you’d like to be paired with an Esplanade Envoy, a Member ambassador of sorts, who will take you through the initial Lifestyle processes, introduce you to the world of events, social clubs, concierge experiences, and help you identify the activities that you may enjoy.

We are so happy you call Esplanade at Tradition your home and look forward to providing you with an exciting Lifestyle that you can be involved in and excited about. For anything you need within the Lifestyle realm, I am here for you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Robert Williamson

COMMUNITY SALES MANAGER

We are pleased to introduce Robert Williamson, one of your Community Sales Managers for Esplanade at Tradition. Rob is originally from Nyack, New York, but he grew up most of his life in Sarasota, Florida. He spends his free time golfing, fishing and traveling. His favorite movie is The Outlaw Jose Wales and his favorite book is The Old Man in the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Rob is a college football fan and he loves his Florida Gators! Go Gators!

Furry Friends Meet Milo

Milo joined our family in 2019 just a week before Thanksgiving. We got him from a Goldendoodle breeder in Alabama. When we first brought him home it took a while for his big brother Boomer to warm up to him, but once he did, the fun began. They were inseparable and Milo followed Boomer’s lead. Now Milo is a very independent dog who won’t necessarily cuddle with you, but he will lick you for hours on end, especially if you have salty skin. He loves playing with other dogs in the neighborhood and in dog parks. We are lucky to have such a low maintenance dog who we love so much!

Contact your Lifestyle Manager to be featured in the next edition of the Lifestyle Magazine.

In addition to living with his wife, Karen, he also has two dogs, Shelby, a Golden Doodle, and Ellie Mae, a Shiatzu Maltese. His favorite cuisine is Italian food, but his favorite restaurants in his local area (Jupiter) are Leftovers, Food Shack, Hog Snappers, and U Tiki. Rob’s most favorite thing to do is traveling to the Florida Keys, as it is laid back and has the most phenomenal food choices one could ask for in Florida. When you come into the Esplanade Sales Gallery make sure to say hi to Rob as he is a great asset to our team!

Joe & Eileen Madaffari

The Members of our community are truly what make this a wonderful place to live. In each edition, we will spotlight a Member, couple or family to showcase the amazing people that call our community home. If you would like to be featured or want to nominate another Member, please contact your Lifestyle Manager.

Joe and Eileen moved from Norwalk, Connecticut to Esplanade at Tradition in the summer of 2022. After searching for three years within the area, they decided on Esplanade due to its beautiful location, overall style, and lifestyle opportunities.

They both worked for the Norwalk Board of Education. They first met as teachers at Brien McMahon High School, and as they say, “The rest is history!”

Joe continued his career at the high school as a Teacher, Coach, and Athletic Director. He proudly earned the National Athletic Director of the Year award in 2018. His other involvements include the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (served as president and assistant commissioner), the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, the Connecticut State Coaches Association (served as president), Norwalk Oak Hills Public Golf Course (served as commissioner), and the Norwalk Shellfish Commission. Joe is a firm believer in giving back to his community. His interest and hobbies include sports (especially playing golf), cooking, and gardening.

Eileen continued her career as a Special Education Teacher at the elementary schools. Her passion is to support students with a variety of special needs, and most recently within instruction of students with dyslexia. Eileen’s wish is that all children learn to read, regardless of their challenges. She was also an active member of yearly school and community events, and truly enjoyed supporting others. Eileen’s interests and hobbies include nature (especially going to the beach), baking, and home decorating.

Joe and Eileen share common interests of being with family and friends, entertaining, traveling, a variety of outdoor activities, and walking the shoreline, collecting sea glass. In past years, they ran the New York City Marathon a total of seven times.

Joe and his twin sister are the youngest of seven children, while Eileen is the youngest of eight. They have a daughter who resides in Utah with her husband and son, as well as a son who currently lives in Oregon. Both children have embraced the passion of athletics into their lifestyles. Together they have competed in multiple running events, marathons, biathlons, triathlons, and the Kona Ironman.

Joe and Eileen look forward to many years of health and happiness, with family and friends who will visit them in their new surroundings.

New Year’s Resolutions vs. Gifts

Everyone always thinks the best thing to do in the new year is to make a New Year’s Resolution. One that most people make is to be more physically active and fit, as well as engage in more fitness classes or activities. However, why not make this a New Year’s Gift?

It is a gift to yourself of a healthier lifestyle; a gift to yourself of a healthier you. Give yourself the New Year’s Gift of a longer life, a healthier eating plan, and a stronger body. Give yourself the New Year’s Gift of looking better in the mirror and taking pride in how you present yourself to others.

The idea of a resolution is sometimes so negative, but a gift, that is something positive that nobody can take away from you. It is given to you as a token of appreciation for a past year well done and new year welcoming in positive vibes. Keep up the positivity and give yourself a New Year’s Gift!

February is American Heart Month

February is the month when we talk most about cardiovascular health. During this month we encourage people to get their annual checkups for stroke prevention and heart diseases. Making sure that you lead a heart healthy lifestyle including a good diet and regular exercise is imperative for living a strong and healthy life.

Join us for our American Heart Month Lecture on Leading a Healthy Lifestyle that will take place on Saturday, February 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sales Gallery.

Benefits of Sound Meditation

Sound meditation uses music and sound to clear the mind and deepen meditation. This ancient practice is used by many cultures, religions and mystic traditions. Music is multi-dimensional, linking realms of the brain and facilitating meditation independently of thought. It can ease anxiety and promote a sense of wellbeing.

Insight Timer is a free app that you can get on most smart phones that allows you to engage in many types of meditation including, but not limited to, sound meditation.
