Community Updates BY MICHELLE SAUNDERS, LCAM

F

irst I would like to thank you all for such a warm welcome as your new community manager. The last three months I have focused on getting to know the many aspects of Victoria Park and in May, I also had the pleasure of seeing our beautiful community from the air. (Check out the photo above!) Victoria Park contracts with an environmental consulting agency to assist in maintaining the conservation areas throughout Victoria Park. Their contract includes one aerial survey per year via helicopter and I was lucky enough to get invited. Our community continues to grow and we currently have 1,935 homes in Victoria Park consisting of 110 townhomes and 335 homes in Victoria Commons, 450 homes in Victoria Hills, 278 homes in Victoria Trails, and 762 homes in Victoria Gardens.

are having your system worked on during that time. Also, please check to make sure your rain sensors are working to ensure you are only watering as needed. With the heavy rains we have been experiencing, you may be able to cut back on your irrigation and help conserve water.

Upcoming Community Improvement Projects

Pool Attendants

We are working on proposals to replace the two wooden gazebos located next to Lake Victoria and behind the pool in Victoria Commons. We anticipate this project will be completed in early fall. We recently approved a plan to plant native wetland plants in two ponds as a pilot program. The plants will increase the aesthetics of the ponds and may improve the water quality as well.

Throughout the peak summer months we have pool attendants scheduled at the Trails and Commons pools to oversee and assist in enforcing the pool rules and policies. Please remember to bring your Victoria Park Resident ID when enjoying the pools this summer.

Irrigation Please remember to only run your sprinkler system during your allotted days and times. Maintenance day irrigation should only be used if you

Pool Guest Access As many of you know, the Victoria Park Community Council guest policy recently changed to two guests per Resident ID Card for amenity access and lifestyle events. Please be advised that children living in your home under the age of 14 are not considered guests. All residents 14 years of age and older can obtain a Victoria Park Resident ID from the Community Management Office.

MICHELLE SAUNDERS is the Community Manager for Victoria Park. You can reach her at 386-738-2112, ext. 6 or by email at MSaunders@Evergreen-LM.com.

Beautification Award Winners: The Westbrooks I’d like to introduce you all to this quarter’s Beautification Award Winners, Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Deborah Westbrooks of 114 Myrtleberry Lane. Their home was chosen based upon a visual inspection that included landscaping and decorations. The Westbrooks have lived in Victoria Park since 2016. With friends in this area, they’ve always loved DeLand. After seeing a billboard advertising a Victoria Park home as winner of the Southern Living Home of the Year, they decided it was time to make the move. They enjoy the small town appeal of DeLand and Victoria Park’s friendly community. They have great neighbors and love that everyone offers a friendly wave and says “hi.” They have several dogs and love the pet friendly environment of the community. Their home has a lovely open floor plan that is great for entertaining. The Westbrooks enjoy people and pet watching from their patio overlooking the pond.

Club Spotlight: Victoria Gardens Travel Club BY CAROL BLEDSOE, CLUB PRESIDENT

I

n May, the Victoria Gardens Travel Club took 30+ travelers on a chartered/private tour of the former Yugoslavia and entered five countries during the 2,000 mile journey in a motor coach, including Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Montenegro, and Italy. Led by our excellent tour guides, we quickly fell in love with this region as we delighted in the spectacular scenery along the Adriatic Coast and visited many cities with Roman ruins, cathedrals, castles, and palaces as well as the unique “Sea Organ that plays music by way of sea waves. The trip culminated with two days in Venice where many experienced their first gondola ride and where we stayed at a former Catholic abbey. Everyone came home tired, but with smiles on our faces after getting to know this beautiful part of the world and each other. A presentation about the trip will be given at the November 15th Travel Club meeting in the Magnolia Ballroom at Victoria Gardens. Everyone is welcome to attend.
