Community FAQs As we approach the 3,000 home mark, we wanted to take this opportunity to go over some of the most common frequently asked questions received at the Community Management Office.

Architectural Review Committee (ARC) Information V.P. HOA (Commons, Hills and Trails) ARC Committee meets every third Monday of the month at 3pm at the Community Management Office. All submissions are to be turned in no later than the second Monday of the month. If you are interested in serving on the ARC, please contact the office for a volunteer application. Victoria Gardens ARC Committee meets every third Thursday of the month at 3pm at the Community Management Office. All submissions are to be turned in no later than the second Thursday of the month. Victoria Oaks ARC’s are approved by the developer throughout the month. All submissions are to be turned in at the Community Management Office no later than the second Wednesday of the month.

Exterior Home Maintenance As a reminder, any change to the exterior of your home requires approval from the Architectural Review Committee prior to the work commencing. Re-painting your home with the exact same color scheme or re-roofing with the exact same color and style of existing shingles are automatically approved (once verified), but do require the ARC application to be submitted for documentation.

Parking Residents should be utilizing their driveway or garage for parking. Street parking should only be utilized short term by visitors if there is no room in the driveway. The ‘cut outs’ in the Commons and Oaks are not considered street parking. Those are parking spots which may be utilized by anyone. There are no designated parking spots.

Community Yard Sale The community yard sale is cancelled indefinitely. The safety of the community is our number one priority and unfortunately the yard sale presents too many safety challenges (COVID, parking, emergency access, etc.). If you plan to hold an individual yard sale, please contact the City of DeLand for more information and please remove all signage at the conclusion of your sale.

Guest Policy Reminder Please remember that you must have your Resident ID on you when using the amenities. Guests are permitted (two per Resident ID) when using the amenities at the Commons, Trails and Oaks. Children under the age of 14 are not considered guests. Residents over the age of 14 are able to obtain a Resident ID.

Pets All pets should be on a leash. In addition, be mindful of your neighbor’s lawn by not allowing your pet on it and by cleaning up and removing solid waste after your pets in common areas.

Irrigation Maintenance Days

WCA Waste

Every Wednesday and the first and third Saturdays of the month from 11am-2pm. This excludes the Townhomes, 49ers and Victoria Gardens.

For all trash related inquiries, contact the City of DeLand at 386-6267195 or visit wcawaste.com.

Covenants Corner BY K E L LY A N B A C H

S

ummer has arrived! We want to welcome all new residents to Victoria Park! We also want to thank the residents that received the friendly reminders with understanding and support in maintaining the beauty of your homes and investments. My role as the Community Standards Administrator is to help ensure the community adheres to the covenant standards as set forth in the governing documents. If you receive a letter, the best thing you can do is to contact us so that we can assist in any way possible, or offer timeline extensions if necessary. Our goal is to establish a professional relationship through communications, commitment and caring for our residents. As we continue to grow, there may be violations we miss. In the event there is an issue you would like to report, you may do so by filing a Confidential Incident/Violation Report, which can be obtained online, or at our Community Management Office located at 525 W. Victoria Trails Blvd. You may also call our office at 386-738-2112.

Garbage Cans/Recycling All garbage cans/recycling bins are to be stored in the garage in Victoria Gardens. Victoria Trails, Hills, Commons and Oaks are also to store garbage cans/recycling bins in the garage. Another thing that would be allowed is a lattice panel, painted the same color of the

house and shrubs in front of it to soften the view with ARC approval. If anyone needs an application, please email VPCAM@Evergreen-LM. com for an ARC application.

Driveways Many people want to paint the driveway; any applied top coating is not allowed. Decorative stamped concrete is permitted with ARC approval.

Play Equipment Basketball hoops in the front yard are to be stored out of view when not in use. Rear yard play equipment must obtain ARC approval and be properly screened.

Hurricane Preparedness I also want to help our residents put together a Hurricane Emergency Checklist. Be ready for Before the Storm. Preparation is the key! Hurricanes don’t only affect people living along the coast. They can cause damage hundreds of miles from the shore. Learn how to be prepared.

If You Need to Stay Home During a Storm • Keep your emergency supply kit in a place you can easily access.

COMPLIANCE

• Listen to the radio or TV for updates on the hurricane. • Stay inside. Even if it looks calm, don’t go outside. Wait until you hear or see an official message that the hurricane is over. Sometimes, weather gets calm in the middle of a storm but then quickly gets bad again. • Stay away from windows—you could get hurt by pieces of broken glass or flying debris during a storm. Stay in a room with no windows or go inside a closet. • Be ready to leave. If emergency authorities order you to leave or if your home is damaged, you may need to go to a shelter or a neighbor’s house.

If You Need to Evacuate • Grab your emergency supply kit and only take what you really need with you (cell phone, chargers, medicines, identification, like a passport or license, and cash). • Unplug your appliances. If you have time, turn off the gas, electricity, and water. • Follow the roads that emergency workers recommend even if there is traffic. Other routes might be blocked or flooded. Never drive through flooded areas—cars and other vehicles can be swept away or may stall in just six (6) inches of moving water.

Hurricane Season Preparedness Checklist • 1 Gallon of water, per person, per day • Non-Perishable Food – Canned and Other non-perishable food (that doesn’t require heating) • Pet food • Manual can opener • Flashlights and lanterns • Candles, matches and lighter (only as a backup, as these can be a fire hazard) • Battery powered radio • Batteries (different sizes for your flashlights, radio, etc.)

Stock Up on These Items (Even Before a Storm!) • • • • • • • •

Check These Items on a Regular Basis • Is there at least half a tank of gas in each car at all times? • Do you have a waterproof container for your most important documents? • Are all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors working? • Do you have an emergency kit in your car? Be sure to add anything else that is important as well!

SPOTLIGHT

Memorial Day Pinning of Vietnam Veterans BY E V E LY N R O S A , L I F E S T Y L E D I R E C TO R

Mr. Robert “Bob” Watson, USMC (RET) after 20 years of service. Bob is now the Director of Veterans Services of Volusia County. He and his team provide guidance and assistance to veterans who may be in need of services or benefits. Mr. Rodney “Rod” Phillips, US Army combat wounded veteran, was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Medal, among a long list of Presidential Citations and was inducted into the Veterans Hall of Fame. I reached out to Bob two years ago to try to get the pins and certificates

for our resident vets in the Gardens as well as Victoria Park. Finally, after getting approval from Washington, we were ready to have a Ceremony when the pandemic started. We were finally able to put the program together with the help of Fred Ditmars and his crew. I served in the US Navy for four years during the Vietnam War and I was humbled and honored to stand with them to take part in the ceremony, thanking all who served and sacrificed throughout the world, during the Vietnam War and officially welcoming them home. These two men volunteered their time in order to make the event happen.
