Community Updates BY MICHELLE SAUNDERS, LCAM

Internet Speed Increase Great News!! We have received notification from Spectrum to increase our bulk internet speed from 60 to 100 megabits per second (Mbps) at no additional charge. The service codes for the 100 Mbps have been added to the bulk account. The Flash/Alert Screen notes on the individual accounts have also been updated indicating the 100 Mbps speed is now included in our bulk service. Residents will need to call Spectrum’s Customer Service Department at 855-222-0102 and ask for their account codes to be updated. Should the Customer Service Rep have any questions or issues, please ask the representative to check the Flash/Alert Screen which includes all the details. If you already have Internet installed, the move to 100 Mbps should not require an appointment (only a coding change).

Community Improvements & Maintenance Items Commons Gazebos: The two wooden gazebos located in Victoria Commons have been removed and we are in the process of installing the new metal gazebos in their place. Once the new gazebos are completed we also plan to replace or repair the paver walkways where needed along with purchasing new tables in the park area by the pool. Commons Pool Resurfacing: This winter we will be resurfacing the Commons pool along with painting the palm tree water features. Once the project is scheduled, we will send an e-blast to announce the dates the pool will be closed. Street Lights: The street lights have been cleaned in all four quadrants. This is completed annually.

Pressure Washing: Pressure washing of common area sidewalks are in the process of being completed.

Community Growth Victoria Park currently has 2,075 occupied homes as of December 2017. Kolter Homes, DR Horton and Ryan Homes had robust sales in 2017 and are anticipating another great year ahead! Development and construction in Phase 3 of Victoria Hills, Phases 6 & 7 of Victoria Gardens and Phase 3 of Victoria Trails is well underway. We appreciate your patience and support as Victoria Park continues to grow. Phase II of the Village Center is scheduled to begin construction in early 2018. The new phase will bring additional restaurants, shops and medical offices. If you have not visited the Village Center recently, I encourage you to do so. Several of the retail shops extend special offers to Victoria Park residents.

Safety & Security I recently attended a “Coffee with the Chief” event put on by the DeLand Police Department. Residents were able to meet Chief Umberger to address questions and concerns as well as meet with Traffic and Animal Control Officers. DeLand Police is partnering with a new website and app which will allow residents to report non-emergency items directly to DeLand Police Department as well as receive important announcements. If interested, you can register at www.crimewatchfl.com.

COMPLIANCE

Covenants Corner

W

e are happy to announce Steve Ingram’s promotion to Community Standards Administrator. Steve has been with Victoria Park since 2013 as part of our maintenance team. He recently obtained his Community Association Management license and is also a Certified Pool Operator. His new position will focus mainly on compliance related processes and procedures, but he will also be utilized to assist in maintenance related items when his expertise and experience is needed. Please help us congratulate Steve on his new position! Please see his Covenants Corner article below.

Victoria Park Community Management would like to thank all of the residents for assisting us with keeping our community beautiful. It is the combined effort of residents and staff that makes this happen as we depend on all of you to see things that may be out of place and contact us so we can address. We appreciate our residents taking pride in the community by keeping us informed of issues that may require immediate attention.

on myvictoriapark.com or come in to the Management Office and speak to Celi. Whether you paint the house yourself, or have a professional do it, be sure it gets pressure washed first and that any cracks in the surface or around the windows and doors are sealed prior to painting. As always, be sure to get ARC approval before starting any projects on the exterior of your home.

Parking Winter Maintenance The cooler weather has slowed the growth of most vegetation, but it is still important to maintain our landscapes. Now is a great time to detail your landscaping (removing weeds in hedges, landscape beds, etc.) and refresh mulch as needed. Leaves should be collected and bagged to be put out Tuesday mornings for pick up. Please remember, bundled debris should not be put out before 5pm on Mondays. Also, please keep in mind that any changes to landscaping in the Gardens must be approved by the ARC. In the other quadrants, as long as you are changing similar materials (shrubs for shrubs, plant for plant) from the approved plant list, you do not need approval. The dryer weather is also a good time to consider pressure washing or painting as needed. You can find a listing of approved color schemes

As a reminder, all boats, trailers, RVs, etc, may not be stored or parked in the community unless they will fit in a garage. They can be parked temporarily for cleaning, loading and unloading and short term visitor parking. Vehicles are not to be parked in the street overnight or blocking the side walk at any time. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to help answer any questions you may have. Thank you and Happy New Year!

SPOTLIGHT

Victoria Gardens Gives Back BY EVA NICOL, DIRECTOR OF LIFEST YLES AND CLUBHOUSE OPERATIONS

V

ictoria Gardens residents contribute to local DeLand charities all year long, but especially during the holiday season. The Potluck Club hosts a monthly community gathering at the Clubhouse where residents bring a dish to share with neighbors. As part of the admission, residents bring a canned or nonperishable food item that is donated to a local charity chosen by the month’s dinner host. Victoria Gardens Potluck Dinner Club donated $515 to Toys for Tots from the proceeds of the big neighborhood Thanksgiving feast. Each year, members of the Women’s Club collect donations from several local DeLand businesses to offer in an auction to raise money for charity. The Women’s Club raised and contributed $6,000 to the Family Renew Community of DeLand and $6,000 to the Good Samaritan Clinic from the proceeds of the auction. The Victoria Gardens Women’s Club annually sponsors a “warm clothing drive” during the months of October, November and December. The Victoria Gardens community has been extremely generous again this year by donating items such as sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters, jackets, blankets, and various other items. The Mercy Hour Ministry of First United Methodist Church gives these items to those who are homeless, living and sleeping outdoors, as well as to those who are in need and can’t afford to buy clothing. This year, approximately 120 men and women will receive these wonderful donations. Steve Tanzer, a Victoria Gardens resident, organized a neighborhood donation program of meals for Christmas. Working with the DeLand Police Department and their Operation Cheer program, ten needy families received a full Christmas meal purchased by residents and prepared by The Victoria Gardens’ Café. Additionally, Starbucks partnered with Steve and donated two boxes of toys and a number of sandwich items to enable these same families to enjoy food beyond Christmas Day.

Residents Carolyn Smith and Maggie Scatchard presenting Toys for Tots donation alongside the DeLand Police Department.

Loretta Ditmars, of the Women’s Club, organizes an angel tree to benefit The Family Renew Community of DeLand and the Community Partnership for Children of Volusia County. Victoria Gardens residents purchase toys and necessities for children and families. This year, over 30 children and families were supported by the generosity of residents. Men’s Club members, in addition to participating in various fun activities, are engaged in various community outreach programs including feeding the homeless six times a year at the Interfaith Kitchen and have volunteered time to provide labor support for construction of a playground in DeLand. In addition, organizations receiving financial contributions include the Methodist Home for Children and the Neighborhood Center in DeLand. ‘Tis the season for giving!

MULLIGAN’S

Updates From The Grille BY CHAD GARCIA

T

he Victoria Hills Golf Clubhouse renovations are progressing nicely and we hope to announce the re-grand opening within the coming weeks. As we move closer to opening the doors, we wanted to reach out to the rapidly growing community and share our vision of the new Mulligan’s Tavern & Grille. Restaurant hours will be expanded to include serving lunch every day, dinner on Tuesday through Saturday, and Brunch on Sunday. We will be introducing exciting new lunch and dinner menus with a greater focus on shared “Tapas” style items. The menu will be diverse drawing recipes and technics from around the world, all perfectly executed by Executive Chef Michael Morrison and his talented team. Chef Michael (pictured left) joins us from the San Francisco area where he has spent the last 17 years working in critically acclaimed restaurants and honing his craft. He brings with him a commitment to scratch made cooking using the freshest ingredients purchased from local vendors whenever possible.

We are also excited to have a new dedicated private Banquet/ Event space available for weddings, showers, anniversaries, rehearsal dinners, business seminars, and the like. The Event room is designed to accommodate parties ranging in size from 20-75 people and will be designed and furnished elegantly. We will also use this space to host specialty nights such as wine dinners, trivia, and themed parties. The patio has also been enhanced with new lighting, new fans and table tops, along with the addition of two new televisions. Landscape improvements have been added with less shrubbery and more colorful flowers to allow for course viewing while meeting with your friends and fellow golfers. At Mulligan’s, we want to establish ourselves as the community “go to” place for outstanding cuisine, craft cocktails and fun atmosphere. We encourage you to see yourself enjoying a delicious meal or sharing small plates with friends while sipping a refreshing beverage topped off with weekly late Friday night entertainment. We look forward to seeing you back at Mulligan’s very soon!

CHAD GARCIA is the Food & Beverage Manager of Mulligan’s Tavern & Grille at the Victoria Hills Golf Club. He can be reached at 386-626-1570 or by email at CGarcia@HamptonGolfClubs.com.
