Community Growth

Thank You Committee Volunteers

Victoria Park and Victoria Gardens hit major milestones in 2019. Both associations have passed 90% closed homes and are in the process of transition from developer to homeowner control. The Developer Transition meeting will be held on Monday, February 3rd at the Victoria Gardens Clubhouse. The Victoria Gardens meeting is at 6pm and the Victoria Park HOA meeting is at 7pm.

Thank you to all of our community volunteers! There are so many residents working behind the scenes on various committees (Architectural, Covenants, Advisory, Environmental, etc.) and we thank you for helping make Victoria Park such a wonderful community. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please keep an eye on the e-newsletter and e-blasts for upcoming opportunities.

Please keep an eye on the e-newsletter and e-blasts for additional information, including dates and times for Meet the Candidates Forums.

New Community Standards Administrator

Improvement Projects • The Community Management Office moved to its permanent location at the Trails Amenity Center in October 2019. • The Tennis Courts at the Commons have been resurfaced and an additional Pickleball Court was added as well. • The Commons Fitness Center had new rubber flooring installed in August 2019. • The Commons Pool Restrooms were re-painted in August 2019. • Upcoming Projects include the replacement of the pool deck pavers at the Commons Pool; replacement of the wooden pergolas at the Commons Pool; replacement of the Commons Playground Equipment; and cleaning of the streetlights and common area sidewalks, just to name a few.

Please help me welcome Kelly Anbach to the Victoria Park community as our new Community Standards Administrator! Kelly has worked in Code Enforcement for 18 years and more recently, the past three years with the City of DeLand. She has a strong understanding of the dynamics of the City of DeLand, City Code of Ordinances and the Victoria Park community. Her mission is to promote the Community Standards through education; promote networking, and provide a better understanding of what our restrictions are for the HOA. Kelly enjoys working with the public and looks forward to working with the residents to find solutions, as well as be available to listen to their concerns.

MICHELLE SAUNDERS is the Community Manager for Victoria Park. You can reach her at 386-738-2112 or by email at MSaunders@ Evergreen-LM.com.

VICTORIA HILLS GOLF CLUB

Updates from the Club B Y S C O T T W Y C K O F F, P G A / G E N E R A L M A N A G E R

I

hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a wonderful Happy New Year! As we transition into a new year, take time to reflect on 2019, and look forward to our New Year’s resolutions, it is my hope that 2019 was a great year for all of you and that 2020 will be even better.

Golf Course Maintenance As we all know, this past year central Florida had some unusual weather, extreme rainfall, as well as excessive heat indexes. We just completed a very warm October and then we quickly transitioned into a cool November and December. For Floridians, it seems as if we went from summer to winter and bypassed the entire fall season. With this change in weather, there were certain processes that were completed by our Maintenance Department in order to prepare the golf course for the winter weather. It is critical for the superintendent, Brad Tucker, to react in a timely manner when dealing with herbicide applications prior to the winter annual weed population that can harm the appearance and playability of the course. This process involved applying preemergent herbicides to the tees, fairways, and roughs throughout the golf course. As we move forward, there will be additional applications of Barricade on the roughs and applications of Specticale on the fairways. With these applications of preemergent herbicide, this will greatly reduce the weed population and at the same time reduce the amount of post emergent herbicides required in the springtime. You will also notice that the maintenance staff has been trimming all the native grass beds throughout the course. With the completion of this work, there will be a noticeable change in appearance to each of the golf holes.

Golf Course Routing Change You will also notice the construction of new homes on holes 11 through 17. One hole that has experienced a routing change is the 11th hole where the golf cart path has been relocated closer to the back edge of the green. The staff at Victoria Hills asks that you use caution when you drive your golf cars from the 11th green to the 12th tee box, as there are several pieces of heavy equipment being used in the construction process.

is truly amazing what a community can do when everyone comes together to help those less fortunate, and it is especially rewarding to see the happy faces of the children and families receiving that help during this past Holiday Season. During their 13th Annual Charity Auction in November, and through the help of so many wonderful individuals and local businesses in the DeLand area, the Victoria Gardens Women’s Club (VGWC) was able to raise $16,000 to split equally between two of the many charities they support.

others identified by the Community Partnership for Children that provides child welfare services for children who have been abused, neglected and/or abandoned. This past year the VGWC added a second “Giving Tree” for the parents of the children at Family Renew, additional children who came to the facility after the Angel Tree was set up, elderly residents of Rose Manor, and unwed mothers and their babies living at the DeLand Visitation House.

The first was Family Renew, a facility committed to solving homelessness, and the second was Good Samaritan Clinic, a group that provides support and counseling for women with cancer. However, the VGWC’s charitable efforts did not end with the check presentations to these two organizations. Since 2005, when the club was first formed, the VGWC’s primary mission has always been to raise funds and donations to support local charitable efforts in DeLand and Volusia County.

The response from the Victoria Garden’s community and the members of the VGWC was astounding. Every Christmas wish was filled, and additional gift cards were donated to help cover any ongoing needs identified by the dedicated people who work at these facilities every day to make the lives of others just a little bit better. The Board, Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs and all of the 200 members of the VGWC would like to publicly thank the generous donors who have made this fundraising year so successful!

Each year during the Christmas season, the VGWC sponsors an Angel Tree for children in our community; some living at Family Renew and
