COVERSTORY LAMBORGHINICOUNTACH

The greenhouse, massive rear fenders that act as flying buttress es, and the rear fascia and taillights all have elements of Diablo, Murcielago, and Sián FKP 37 strewn about. Inside the Countach LPI 800-4, the mix of eras is less obvious, since the cabin maintains a strong sense of modernism. The inside of the Countach LPI 800-4 does, however, have a model specific 8.4-inch infotainment sys tem and a distinctive “Stile” button that, when pressed, conveys the Countach’s design philosophy to insideanyonethe vehicle.

The Countach LPI 800-4 will be limited to 112 units (an homage to the original Countach’s internal project name, LP 112), with de liveries set to commence in early 2022. Although the model’s price hasn’t been revealed, it’s expected to be equivalent to the Sián FKP 37 coupe, which sold for $2,640,000 each when it was first released.

While the big naturally aspirated 12-cylinder does the majority of the work when the Countach’s right pedal hits the floorboard, it’s still helped by the little electric motor, which provides torque fill between each cog swap (likely up to 80 mph, as in the Sián FKP 37) and also works with the big bent-12 to give the Countach LPI 800-4 a maxi mum of 803 horses.

Lamborghini understands that nostalgia sells. As a result, it was only a matter of time before they dusted off the old Countach badge and put it to something new, in this case, the 2022 Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4. No, the Countach is not the Aventador’s official successor. Instead, it’s another limited-run variant based on Lambo’s aging and soon-to-be-replaced V-12 supercar an Aventador with unique interior and exterior flair. Countach LPI 800-4 is more than a rebuilt Aventador, despite this. Indeed, all indications point to the next Countach being a renovated Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, which is essentially a reworked Aventador.

The Countach LPI 800-4 uses a supercapacitor to power its electric motor, similar to the 807-hp Sián FKP 37 (the Countach’s V-12 is a few ponies less than the Sián’s, as Lamborghini appears to want to ensure buyers understand where these two cars stand in the pecking order), which holds electricity in a static state rather than binding it in a Thiscircuit.design has the advantages of faster recharging and a lower weight when compared to a battery pack of the same size. The dry weight of the 803-hp Countach LPI 800-4 is only 99 pounds more than the 769-hp Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae, which was recently shown.

As a result, both versions reach 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, according to Lamborghini (the Sián FKP 37, on the other hand, gets 62 mph in less than 2.8 seconds).

COVER story 03 Yes, the Countach LPI 800-4’s styling is based on a car that first went on sale during the disco era, but its engine is completely cur rent. The car’s 34-hp electric motor is directly connected to the Countach LPI 800-4’s seven-speed automated manual transmission, which is linked to a powerful 769hp 6.5-liter V-12 engine.

HYPEHYBRID

The Countach LPI 800-4, on the other hand, adds an extra dose of elegance to the tarmac. It’s not that the Aventador Ultimae (or the Sián FKP 37) isn’t attractive; it’s just that the Countach goes a step farther.

The Countach LPI 800-4 may be a bit of a Russian doll, but its link to the Sián FKP 37 is crucial, as the Sián FKP 37 is a gasoline-electric hybrid supercar, unlike the solely gas fed Aventador.

Unlike the original Countach, which was a stylistic triumph and the wedge to end all wedges, the new Countach LPI 800-4’s design isn’t quite as revolutionary. It almost seems like a parody of the original: the NACA-style side intakes are too wide, the body is bloated, and the front fascia is a little too cluttered compared to the original. Remove the previous Countach from the equation and concentrate just on the new one’s appearance, and... it works. (Well, for the most part.) The side ducts are still a bit much for us.) The Countach LPI 800-4 is a stunningly gorgeous vehicle that successfully combines stylistic aspects from Lamborghi ni’s history and present into a striking, aggressive road weapon. Despite the fact that this neoAventador is called Countach, its look appears to incorporate design elements from both its namesake and the mid-engine 12-cylinder Lamborghini supercars that fol lowed it.

Obtain quotations from many banks to see which one would provide you with the best interest rate. Choose a short-term repayment plan with the lowest available interest rate. Be aware of balloon payments, which can make your monthly payments appear tiny but leave you owing a significant amount on your car at the end of your term. BUYING A USED CAR

To determine your budget, look at your most current bank statement and monthly bills. If this isn’t your first automobile, factor in the value of your current vehicle’s trade-in; you can use this money to put down a larger deposit, lowering your monthly payment and interest. Keep in mind that the cost of own ing a vehicle includes more than simply the vehicle’s purchase price. There may be other costs, such as the registration charge or optional add-ons like an extended warran ty. This is in addition to monthly operating expenses like fuel and insurance.

Everybody wants and dreams of buying a new car at some point, but not everyone can afford to buy a brand new car. So, a used car becomes an option for most of us. But then how do you know the right used car for you?

Once you’ve determined what you require, you can select the specific brand and model that best matches your needs. Comparing listings on line to identify vehicles that meet your needs is a good idea. Examine new, used, and demo alternatives before deciding on the best option for you. After that, go for a test drive with your top two or three selections. Pay note to how quickly the car accelerates, how comfort able it is to drive, and how well it handles. This is also an excellent opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding the vehi cle’s engineering or functionality.

You can then examine what you need and want from your car once you’ve determined how much you can comfortably spend on it. To evaluate what kind of car will best meet your needs, make a list of non-negotiables such as vehicle size, safety features, and fuel economy. Then make a list of all the things you want but don’t need, such as technology, color preferences, convenience, and style. When investigating specific models, keep this list in mind.

There are a few minor alterations on the inside, but the most significant change is the new infotainment Alongsystem.with better visuals and easier to use screen icons, the Rid geline also has a physical volume knob, which addresses one of our long-standing issues. All wheel drive is now a requirement. Tradi tional body-on-frame pickups that provide enough towing and capable off-roading have been oversat urated in this market of mid-size vehicles.

With 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, the Ridgeline’s engine is the most fuel-efficient V-6 in its class. An all-wheel-drive Ridgeline got 28 mpg on our 75-mph fuel-economy route, which simulates real-world highway driving and is part of our rigorous testing program. That figure is consistent with our findings for a GMC Canyon with a diesel engine and all-wheel drive, which is impressive given the Honda’s gas engine.

The 2021 Ridgeline, Honda’s sole pickup truck with a cargo bed, is a one-size-fits-all alternative to regular pickup trucks. While the Ridgeline doesn’t offer an off-road model or a diesel engine, it does come standard with a roomier and more comfortable crew cab than any of its competitors. Although the Ridgeline’s minivan-based chassis and V-6 motor prevent it from towing more than 5000 pounds, they do let it to accelerate rapidly, consume fuel effectively, offer a competitive payload rating, and drive with unequaled agility and Beforesmoothness.the2021model year, the Ridgeline might be described as many things, but robust wasn’t one of them. We’re not sure if the mid-size truck’s new style which features a new design from the front roof pillars forward—will satis fy all of the critics, but it does look more daring than before. A new package from Honda Performance Development (HPD) adds black overfenders, a distinctive blackedout grille, HPD branding on the bed walls, and cool-looking bronze wheels to this fresh design, which is available on all trim levels. NonHPD Ridgelines come standard with a new set of 18-inch wheels with more aggressive all-terrain tires and lower backspacing, giving the Ridgeline a wider track and stance.

In terms of utility and comfort, the Ridgeline’s interior is unrivaled in its class. The Honda, like most other mid-size pickups, has hard plastics below the dash. The mate rials are otherwise above average. All mid-size rivals’ rearseat passengers will have the most room. The center console sits low between the front seats, so fold-down armrests for both front seats are a welcome addition. The Honda truck has only one bed length, 5.3 feet, which is compara ble to competitors’ short beds, and the second-lowest volume, 34 cu bic feet. The locking, weather-tight in-bed trunk with a 7.3-cubic-foot capacity is the rem edy to this imbalance. There’s one more advantage: the Ridgeline is the only mid-size truck that can fit a sheet of four-by-eight-foot building material flat on the bed floor, thanks to its 50.0-inch gap between its wheel wells. Inside, there are more clever features.

won’t start—or go anywhere—without a spark. Because spark plug health is tied to engine performance, it comes to reason that faulty or damaged spark plugs cause issues, such as cold-starting difficulty or misfires during acceleration. Furthermore, without healthy ones, your ride won’t be able to maintain maxi mum power, and your vehicle’s fuel economy will suffer. Nobody wants that now.

Spark plugs have gone thousands of kilometers surviving damage and withstanding the most extreme temperatures and conditions to stay intact by the time they reach old age. This is where the signifi cance of spark plug material becomes apparent. The spark plug will be more sturdy and long lasting if the material is stronger. However, regardless of the materials used, every spark plug experiences wear and Sparkstrain.plugs can’t last forever, and here’s why: Spark plug deposit buildup: Pre-ignition of the fuel can occur when deposits build on spark plugs as a result of interaction with the air-fuel mixture.

Bosch Platinum Plus spark plugs: These plugs are made of durable, efficient platinum and maximize MPGs. They can also last 25% longer than prior Bosch Plat inum spark plugs, which adds to their appeal.

Fortunately, spark plugs don’t need to be replaced very often and can last for years and thousands of miles before needing to be Sparkreplaced.plugs should be replaced every 30,000 miles (48,000 Kilo meters), according to most auto manufacturers; however, spark plug longevity is dependent on the condition and kind of spark plug. Copper spark plugs, for example, have the shortest life, whereas plugs made of more modern and robust materials can last up to four times as long.

HAPPENSWHAT TO A SPARK PLUG AS IT AGES?

Consider spark plugs to be the tiny flash of light. The small but powerful spark of electricity emitted by the plug across a short gap ignites the combustion required to start your car. Your car can power up, stay powered up, and create a smooth burn of the compressed air-fuel mixture by moving the pistons in the engine.

Misfiring spark plugs, according to the National Institute for Automo tive Service Excellence, can impair fuel efficiency by 30%. When new plugs are replaced at predeter mined intervals, they improve fuel economy and save money.

The intricacy of a spark plug re placement ranges from simple to sophisticated. The parts on your car must be worked on while they are cold, and the time it takes to finish the service varies depending on the make and model. In some circumstances, disassembling vehi cle parts may be required to reach your spark plugs. Because a vehicle drop-off is frequently required, plan beforehand.

The signs of worn spark plugs. Hear it. Feel it. Sense it. Rattling, pinging or “knock”-like noises. When spark plugs start to misfire, you may hear strange noises due to the power of the pistons and improper combustion. Pistons travel at a rapid speed. If the spark plug fires at the incorrect time, the engine may make rattling, pinging, or banging noises. Hard vehicle start. Your spark plugs may not be performing properly if your car is having difficulties starting or feels disconnected and jerky, which can result in misfires and irregular per formance. Reduced performance. When you accelerate and change gears while cruising, your spark plugs fire. If the spark that this small plug produces isn’t working properly, your vehicle’s perfor mance will suffer, and you’ll have a sluggish and fuel-guzzling drive. Poor fuel economy. Poor fuel efficiency can be caused by a variety of factors, but when it comes to old spark plugs, you’ll discover that fuel is squandered since your car isn’t getting the necessary, heat-generating spark at the right time. If you see any of these symptoms, we recommend having your car inspected to avoid further issues. Spark plugs that are in good working order are critical to your car’s ability to start and stay powered.

Smooth and energetic starts. It might be an eye-opening expe rience the first time you turn the ignition with a new spark plug. It’s possible that your car’s jerky starts were caused by that aged spark plug.

Expanding, harder-to-jump gap: When a spark plug ignites, it must move across a space to give the appropriate level of combustion at the appropriate time. This gap expands when spark plugs age due to severe temperatures, debris, and typical wear and tear. Combustion will be inconsistent or ineffectual if the distance is too large.

Volvo provides two turbocharged four-cylinder engines: Front-wheel drive is standard on the 184-hp T4 engine, while all-wheel drive is standard on the 248-hp T5. Buyers will discover a well-designed cabin with plenty of storage cubbies and a scattering of high-tech goodies on the inside.

The eight-speed automatic trans mission shifts gears quickly and smoothly, with no roughness trans mitted to the cabin. The engine’s harsh sound while under hard pow er is our only gripe. The powerplant is quiet and smooth when cruising. The XC40 has a towing capability of 3500 pounds, which is unusual for a small luxury crossover.

Volvo has also incorporated a variety of innovative cargo-storage elements throughout the XC40’s interior, including a glovebox hook that holds takeaway bags, a cargo divider, and a removable garbage bin with a hinged door in the center console.

Every XC40 has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces either 184 or 248 horse power (called T4 and T5, respec tively). Our Momentum test vehicle sped to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds thanks to the more powerful T5, which is only available with allwheel drive.

Despite the EPA’s class-leading fuel efficiency ratings (22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway), the XC40 T5 only managed to achieve average performance in our average performance in our 200-mile highway fuel-economy test, averaging 29 mpg. With 34 mpg apiece, the super-efficient Mer cedes-Benz GLA250 and the nimble three-cylinder Mini Cooper Countryman easily outperformed the XC40 in our tests. The front wheel-drive T4 variant gets 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the inter state, according to the EPA.

Almost everything in the cabin is controlled by this screen, but there are a few physical buttons that are superfluous. The usability of the system is a mixed bag: The major menus are well-organized, however submenus have little touchscreen icons that are difficult to utilize while on the go. Adults in the back will be comfort able as well, with plenty of head, leg, and shoulder room. The boot space is comparable to that of a VW Golf or a Ford Focus. The Audi A3 Sportback is a pleasant and confi dent car to drive, and it comes with a variety of terrific petrol and diesel engines, some of which come with smooth, quick-shifting automatic gears and Audi’s four-wheel-drive Quattro system, which provides even more traction on slick roads.

If you’re looking for a family hatch back that will make you grin every time you get in, the Audi A3 Sport back should be at the top of your list. It boasts a great, premium cabin, cutting-edge technology, and ample interior space. However, it will cost more than a VW Golf, Skoda Octavia, or Ford Focus.

On the outside, the Audi A3 is a stylish automobile with a promi nent grille and appealing profile, as well as sharply slanted headlamps.

Other A3 versions on the market

the A3 saloon, open-top A3 Cab riolet, and fast S3 and RS3 have a similar design.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine with a manual or S-Tronic automatic gear box is the best choice, but the 2.0-litre diesel engine is better if you drive a lot of highway miles. Regardless of which model you choose, the Audi A3 is quite safe, it received a five-star rating from Euro NCAP in 2012, and it comes standard with a slew of cut tingedge safety features. So, the Audi A3 Sportback looks excellent and feels well; its one flaw is that the back seats are a little tighter than in similarly priced SUVs like the Volkswagen Tiguan.

Front-seat passengers have lots of legroom and a clear view of the road ahead and behind them.

The materials and build quality are superior than those of a BMW 1 Series or Mercedes A-Class on the inside. The Virtual Cockpit, which replaces the old-fashioned spee do and rev-counter gauges with a configurable digital screen that can show the satellite-navigation map, your Spotify playlist, or how fast you’re going, is the cabin’s high light. The Audi A3 is both practical and pleasant to drive.

Prepare for silly mistakes

A word of advice: bring a spare key with you. You may not need it, but if you ever find yourself standing outside your locked car, staring at the key in the ignition, having a spare will come in handy (just don’t keep it in the car).

Staycleansqueaky Bring cleaning wipes and dryer sheets with you to keep your car clean and smelling fresh, even after you’ve spent endless hours in it.

Protect documentsyour If you want to leave the nation, use your smartphone to scan or take a picture of your passport and travel bookings and email them to yourself so you have duplicates.

For your road trip, here are some helpful car tricks. What could be better than a road trip? Out on the wide road, it’s just you and your closest friends or family members. Of course, you’ll need the necessary supplies and entertainment to keep the endless hours from becoming unbearable.

Pack light When packing, roll your clothes to preserve space in your car for passengers rather than bags.

Plan like an adult Check your emergency roadside kit and take your car in for a tune-up. It usually pays off in the long term to be responsible and prepared ahead of time.

50

Another suggestion for keeping your car orderly is to gather garbage from roadside food stops in a plastic cereal container with a grocery bag inside.

In a tackle box tray, keep your munchies. This will keep everything in order, and it will also serve as a convenient snack tray to share about.

Go local!

Toss about a Frisbee and a baseball or soccer ball at rest stations. In the rear, a deck of cards will also come in handy. Anyone up for a fishing trip?

Ask a local for recommendations if you’re looking for a place to eat along the journey. They’ll be able to recom mend a delicious restaurant that you may not have considered before.

One of the nicest aspects of a road trip is the opportunity to learn about local culture. Make it a rule to stop in at least one intriguing store in every town you visit.

FEATUREPOSTER PEUGEOT208 52

The 208’s redesigned sculpted bonnet, three-claw LED light patterns, wide chrome-flecked grille, and noticeable rear piano black trim distinguish it from its predecessors and competitors. Inside, things have improved as well, with Peugeot’s now-famous i-Cockpit dashboard design receiving a significant upgrade in quality. As standard, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio and Bluetooth, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is at the heart of it all.

A 10.0-inch version of the same system with a built-in sat-nav is available as an option (or standard on GT variants). The screens are great resolution in both cases, and the menus are pretty simple to browse, albeit the small on-screen buttons can be difficult to tap securely while driving. Peugeot’s new 3D digital dials, on the other hand, are nothing to sneeze at. They’re standard from Allure trim, and they’re projected onto different levels to produce a three-dimen sional illusion and look fantastic, but they also clearly display critical information and are adjustable so you can see what you want to see. It’s a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to space.

Two adults will have no trouble finding a comfortable position in the front seats, and the driver will benefit from a wealth of standard manual seat and wheel adjust ments. If you prefer, electric ad justment is available. Even if their heads are clear of the ceiling, adults in the back seats will find their knees brushing the front seat backs. In the end, a VW Polo is more accommodating in the back seat. The 208 is available in three different 1.2-litre petrol engines, a 1.5 diesel engine, or a pure-electric variant. Unless you’re doing a lot of driving, skip the diesel and go for the 100hp 1.2 petrol, which is quick yet smooth and returns more than 50mpg if driven carefully. The pure-electric e-208, on the other hand, is even punchier through out town and more relaxed thanks to its silent operation if you have the funds and the charging infra structure. A Ford Fiesta is a better choice if you value the way your tiny car makes you smile on a twisty B-road, but for most people, the way the 208 drives and changes direction excitedly will suffice. The way vehicles with bigger alloy wheels handle bumps in town is less impressive. Regardless, the Peugeot 208 should be on your shopping list. It looks fantastic, has one of the greatest interiors of any tiny vehicle, is reasonably priced, and comes with the option of a fantastic electric version, making it stand out among small cars.

CONCEPTCARS LUCIDAIR 62

Sure, Lucid Air sounds more like a ‘80s cover band than a luxury automobile, but the Tesla Model S launched sounding like a 19th-century electrical invention, so only time will tell how far the 2022 Air rises.

The entry-level Air is powered by a single 480-horsepower electric motor that drives the rear wheels. The rest of the series is powered by dual electric motors with all-wheel drive and a variety of horsepower ratings. The Touring model produces 650 horses, the Grand Touring produces 800, and the Dream Edition produces a whop ping 1080 ponies. The fastest Air, according to Lucid, can run the quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds at 144 mph, which is incredibly fast even for high-performance cars. The electrified sedan’s fastest variant will reach a top speed of 168 mph.

On a single charge, the Dream Edition should be able to go be tween 465 and 503 kilometers. The Air has a 113-kWh battery pack and supports DC fast charging. The car should be able to recover 300 miles of range in 20 minutes when plugged into the latter. Three years of complimentary (read: free) fast-charging at Electrify America charging stations will be provided to new owners.
