Masters of the Fiddle

with Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy Two of the world’s most celebrated fiddlers, Natalie MacMaster and Donnel Leahy also happen to be married. Together, they meld their virtuosities into a whirlwind of fiddle-driven song and dance, taking the best of French, Celtic, American Bluegrass and even Cajun styles and transforming it all into a whole new and unique musical experience. Tiempo Libre The three-time Grammy nominees are equally at home in concert halls, jazz clubs and dance venues—and at Madison’s own Concerts on the Square, where they wowed the crowd just last summer. The Miami-based members are true modern heirs to the rich tradition of the music of their native Cuba. Classically trained at Cuba’s premier conservatories, today the group is a hit in the U.S. and abroad, celebrated for its sophisticated performances of timba, a joyous mix of high-voltage Latin jazz and the seductive rhythms of son.

Habib Koité & Raul Midón Malian superstar Habib Koité and American singer/ songwriter/guitar wizard Raul Midón promise to bend and blend genres into a new, cohesive sound that just might bring the Overture Hall walls down. Koité has been called the Stevie Ray Vaughn of Mali, and Midón’s voice has been compared to Stevie Wonder’s.
