Million Dollar Quartet is the Tony® award-winning Broadway musical inspired by the electrifying true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians were gathered together by Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ’n’ Roll” at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. Million Dollar Quartet brings that legendary night to life with an irresistible tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal and celebrations featuring timeless hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “That’s All Right,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Matchbox,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hound Dog” and more. This thrilling musical brings you inside the recording studio with four major talents who came together as a red-hot rock ‘n’ roll band for one unforgettable night. A heart-warming tale of loyalty and friendship, and winner of five 2011 Tony Awards®, War Horse tells the story of young Albert and his beloved horse Joey. When Joey is sold to the cavalry and shipped from England to France, he is soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.

Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, this powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness that is currently playing to packed houses in London and around the world. At its heart are astonishing life-sized puppets, created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, that bring to life breathing, galloping, charging horses strong enough for men to ride.

This is your chance to sing along to the most successful movie musical of all time. And it’ll be one of the funniest, most liberating days out you will have for a long time. But more than that...it’s a major audience participation event with subtitles for all the songs. Direct from Broadway—RAIN, the internationallyacclaimed Beatles concert, returns by popular demand! As “the next best thing to seeing The Beatles!” (Associated Press), RAIN performs the full range of The Beatles’ discography live onstage, including the most complex and challenging songs that The Beatles themselves recorded in the studio but never performed for an audience. Together longer than The Beatles, RAIN has mastered every song, gesture and nuance of the legendary foursome, delivering a totally live, note-for-note performance that’s as infectious as it is transporting. From the early hits to later classics, this adoring tribute will take you back to a time when all you needed was love and a little help from your friends! overturecenter.com

I Wish for All Time: Celebrating the Genius of Michael Jackson and StevieWonder featuring M-Pact with special guest Duwende

Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson: maybe two of the faces on the Mount Rushmore of pop music. Their unique vocal qualities would take ten voices to recreate—so that’s exactly what we’re doing. Two of the hottest acts in New York’s a cappella scene join forces to pay tribute to two men who left their indelible marks on both American music and American culture—and they’ll do it without a single string, key or drumstick. 46 |

African Children’s Choir Not even the devastation of war and famine can silence the voices of Africa’s children. Most of these singers, aged seven to ten, have lost one or both parents; most would face lives of grinding poverty but for the opportunity to travel the world with a song in their hearts—and to share that song with people like us. Come with a heart ready to be melted by the defiant joy displayed in these smiles, eyes and voices.

Masters of the Fiddle

with Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy Two of the world’s most celebrated fiddlers, Natalie MacMaster and Donnel Leahy also happen to be married. Together, they meld their virtuosities into a whirlwind of fiddle-driven song and dance, taking the best of French, Celtic, American Bluegrass and even Cajun styles and transforming it all into a whole new and unique musical experience. Don’t miss the foot-tapping rave-ups, heart-wrenching ballads and world-class step dancing that have brought audiences to their feet on three (and counting) continents!

Tiempo Libre The three-time Grammy nominees are equally at home in concert halls, jazz clubs and dance venues—and at Madison’s own Concerts on the Square, where they wowed the crowd just last summer. The Miami-based members are true modern heirs to the rich tradition of the music of their native Cuba. Classically trained at Cuba’s premier conservatories, today the group is a hit in the U.S. and abroad, celebrated for its sophisticated performances of timba, a joyous mix of high-voltage Latin jazz and the seductive rhythms of son.

Can the four humble strings of the ukulele evoke Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis? Yes, in the virtuosic hands of Jake Shimabukuro. His lightning-fast fingers and deep musical sensibilities blend jazz, rock, classical and traditional Hawai’ian folk songs into a musical force that landed his most recent album at the top of the world music charts and led Rolling Stone to call him a musical “hero.” He sold out the Stoughton Opera House last year, and is sure to fill Capitol Theater. Snowflake In this one-man silent comedy, Snowflake lives alone in a vacant lot – a catchall for life’s discarded objects. With a hilarious blend of comic genius, slapstick, feats of balance, and tender moments, this is a tale of a simple soul who gains pleasure from the simplest of objects. Alone in his world, Snowflake entertains himself by recycling found objects into comic treasures: a crate becomes a ski hill; discarded skis become toe shoes for a farcical ballet; an abandoned car, a home; packing bubbles, a bed frame, and a saw becomes unlikely musical instruments. Recommended for children of all ages.

Jersey Boys rocked Overture Hall for three sold-out weeks last year, and we’re not ready to let that feeling go! These four gents shared the stage for more than a thousand performances in the original Broadway production. Now they’re together again, bringing to life their favorite “Sixties Hits” from The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Motown, The Four Seasons and more. This sensational production reunites Tony®Award winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard and Tony®Award nominee J. Robert Spencer. It’s the first time the principal cast of a high-profile musical has sky-rocketed as a completely new entity. This is not mimicry or tribute, it’s a true celebration of the music of an era, seven years in the making! overturecenter.com
