Job Captain Schematic Design Design Development Construction Drawings Construction Administration IBEC Preview Center is a tenant improvement project that contains real-size mockups of private suites that will be built in the Clippers Arena. Completion is projected for 2024. The preview center will be used for the sales of the private suites. The sales will be conducted after a walkthrough of mockups of spaces that will be built as part of the arena. Therefore the Preview Center is separated into an Event Wing and a Sales Wing. Dimensional Innovations executed the interior design and AECOM Interiors provided revit models of the suites. As the project lead under City Design Studio, my duites included the 121-page permit set for LADBS and the construction set. Code analysis, construction documentation and specifications were conducted for both sets. This also involved coordinating all disciplines: all communication between MEP engineers, interior designer, AECOM Interiors, General Contractor and Project Manager for the Clippers Arena. MEP provided by AECOM Electrical and Plumbing and Henderson Engineers. Construction Administration was conducted through as my responsibility, which involved responses to RFIs and submittals through BIM360 and bluebeam. My duty included preparing and distributing the punch list. Completion is projected for October 2021.

Job Captain Schematic Design Design Development Construction Drawings Construction Administration King Solomon Village is an Emergency Homeless Shelter that will serve 100 unhoused individuals as transitory housing. The site is a previous industrial site that has been rebuilt 6 times since 1925. This added the architectural challenge of transforming the space into an accommodating human abode along with an extensive legal documentation required for permits. Perkins and Will designed “dome units” that act as compact bed with electrical and storage amenities. Duties as the project lead included executing the asbuilt drawings, preparing the revit model, laying out the beds in accordance with LAMC codes for homeless shelters and LAFD requirements. Code analysis, construction documentation and specifications were conducted for the permit sets. Furthermore, my duties comprised of preparing the permit set for LADBS. The set includes ADA required spaces apart from WC and shower facilities on-site. Responsibilities included making Enscape renders to prepare RFPs for artists to use the large walls for their art. Permits for LADBS, LAFD and ADA have been obtained for the construction with an estimated completion date of February 2022.

Decoding Asian Urbanism is a 460-page publication based on the Symposium of the same name at Harvard University. The publication includes essays from 29 researchers and architects, including Saskia Sassen and Kenneth Frampton of Columbia University, Rahul Mehrotra and Edward Glaeser of Harvard University, along with architects Steven Holl, Rafael Vinoly and Foreign Office Architects. The content also features transcripts from the symposium with the same name and architectural documentation by participating architects. My duty comprised of designing the publication: the data-heavy research laid out necessitated over 200 diagrams to make accessible the research from an erudite group of urban thinkers. Every diagram has been designed individually to illustrate dense information found in text. Most diagrams integrate additional research on illustrated subjects, which serve to provide a wider perspective on each topic. My duties included conducting the research necessary for diagrams. Every page in the publication is individually designed in accordance to content on page and relation to the entire publication. Included on this page are 5 examples of the diagrams.

Job Captain Schematic Design Design Development Construction Drawings Construction Administration RESPECT YOUR UNIVERSE is a Canadian Athletic brand that expanded into the American market through 3 new US stores. Under the principal, my responsibilities as the project lead included the assistance of store designs through 3D models and documentation, conducting furniture research and completing millwork drawings, supervising millwork mockups in Vancouver, perparing the construction set for the contractor and overseeing furniture installment in US stores. Each furniture is designed with mixed-use programs found in brand stores: each retail assistant is a trainer and all furniture have to be easily removed and transportd by staff. This added a functional parameter to the aesthetic mandate of the brand. Details include wheels hidden in larger furniture, hollow steel for light weight and durability and removable parts to accommodate different types of merchandise.
The office received the WGSN Award in the Best Store Design category for RYU 4th Avenue in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Culver City High-Rise is an experiment in an architceturally composing a high-rise with a limited number of pieces. This high-rise takes inspiration from variations in urban conglomarates through individual intervention on similar architectural forms. The building is composed of different variations of a single module. The 4 variations become their own individual pieces used to stack up the high-rise. The composition of these pieces prepare the basis for the insertion of more orthodox pieces. Depending on the assigned functions of spaces, simple boxes are inserted as walkways, windows, balconies, stairways and individual rooms.

As part of this advanced structures course, students were assigned a building whose structure was to be documented through sectional models and visual tools. The building assigned under this project was Feltrinelli Porta Volta by Herzog & de Meuron. Included in this portfolio is the first phase of documentation of the building. The second phase involved applying a chosen transformation of the structure and building a sectional model of the new structure design. Illustrated on the cover of this project is the same building, whose structure has been transformed from precast concrete to timber.
