The Common House Fly

The Common House Fly The house fly is a common flying insect which is found all around the world but is mostly in warmer climates becauseit is perfect there for their growth. It is an insect with 2 weeks of breeding cycle and lays as many as about 500 eggsat a time. The longest life span of the common house fly is four weeks. Due to such breeding behavior, its population increasesnumerous fold within a short period of time, if supplied with appropriate conditions. Sitting on piles of manure and spoiled food like eggs, fruits, flesh etc, house flies serve as one of the most widespread vectors for transferring germs to human beings and other mammals. Thesebugs equally like to sit on fresh and rotting food, hence becoming a source of serious diseases.A single leg of this insect carries millions of dangerous germs which are the agents of serious diseasesto human beings, jeopardizing their health. They transfer numerous parasitic, viral, and bacterial illnesses. When in large numbers, these small insects can be a significant problem for inhabitants of that region. To be rid of house flies is more difficult and more challenging becauseof the domestic disposition of these insects. It does not matter that these are also flying pests just like mosquitoes, we can’t use the same methods to kill them becauseflies are bigger in size and are found around food. It could be very hazardous to use insecticides on the flying bugs to kill them. If we do so, it may poison our food and the region as well, resulting in serious health hazards. They may be killed by striking them with a fly swatter but this procedure is also risky and awkward becauseit is impossible to kill a substantial amount of flies like that. It can also become very unpleasant to see them dead in front of you, particularly whilst you are eating. Instead of targeting the mature flying bugs, we should target the breeding sites of these flies. In order to do that, it is very important to know where the house fly lays eggs. Mostly it lays eggs around dead and decaying organic material. Its eggs are whitish in colour and the larvae or maggots are yellowish. Examine your surroundings to determine which places could be appropriate mating and breeding spots for house flies such as placeswhere there is garbage or faeces. Cleanlinessis the first step to take in action against these insects. It is useful to use some insecticides to kill the larvae and pupae of these bugs together with the adults. It will reduce the chancesof growth in numbers of these flies. Rather than only throwing your rubbish out, always processit before throwing it away. Always keep it covered and never let it become a place for such insects to feed and grow on. You should always dispose off your garbage with suitable care. The likelihood of suffering from health concerns by such insects can be greatly reduced if we make a little effort to keep our surroundings clean and

hygienic. There are also items that you could use to kill adult house flies like sticky paper hanging from the ceiling or shelves, although they can become unsightly and the electric fly traps that lure flies with a blue light and kills by electrocution.
