Well, I won’t tempt fate and say this too loudly, but it does seem that Summer has remembered us and we should all be able to enjoy the good weather after what has seemed like a long and dismal winter. Hopefully, the pleasures of the great outdoors are with us again! To complement this optimism, our new catalogue is packed with “all things bright & beautiful” on the pages that follow, and we hope the selection of uplifting gift ideas for future lazy, hazy days will sustain the spirits. (You’ll also find a few Christmassy things included on these pages for all you forward-thinkers, too!) The return of the warmer weather and longer days in early June also heralded a promising season ahead for our wild owl populations. Our friends at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary tell us that as a result, apparently abandoned young tawny owls have arrived at the centre in search of some TLC in some numbers, brought in by members of the public concerned for their safety. Many of the young birds having been blown aside from their nesting sites by the high winds experienced through May, but in truth, Mum & Dad Tawny were likely never far away from the ‘orphans’, so wherever possible S.O.S. staff have been able to A tiny tawny owlet, barely a few weeks return the youngsters to where they were old and typical of found.
