When your starter comprises a delightful ball of velvety mozzarella that explodes over heirloom cherry tomatoes, plump olives and focaccia chunks, you know you’re onto a good thing. Newcomer Assembly Restaurant, little sister to Assembly Bar, is all about top-notch Italian food prepared well and served within its elegant, clean-lined surrounds. The wood-fired pizzas are “Italy” excellent – just the right amount of strategically placed toppings scattered on thin and crispy crusts – and the Tartufata positively divine: who knew that truffle cream could elevate an already near-perfect dish? Afterwards, the Greek yoghurt panna cotta is a modern take on an old favourite. Topped with seasonal berries, it could almost be healthy. TATYANA LEONOV

Finding furniture for the animals in our lives that doesn’t need to be jettisoned behind the sofa every time the doorbell rings can be a tricky brief. Ticking all the boxes for us this week are these rather chichi beanbags from Sydney’s very own Hutchy Collective. We love how this one looks as if it has been knitted but is, in reality, a green-stripe knit pattern digitally printed onto tough, scratch-proof – but very washable – polyester. (The cover is supplied with a separate internal bag for beans; beans are not included.)
