NIYAMA MALDIVES PER AQUUM RESORT

Niyama Per Aquum, a 40-minute seaplane ride from Malé International Airport in the Maldives, works its tropical-island luxury above and below the waterline. Its first resort, Chill, features superb over-water pavilions and a 24-hour spa, plus the truly otherworldly underwater restaurant Subsix (pictured) – six metres down and 500 metres out in the Indian Ocean. Chill is popular with moneyed honeymooners seeking sanctuary and it now has a sister resort, Play, on a neighbouring island. Play combines beachfront cabins with great facilities, including a kids’ club offering a swanky games room and a playground installed with a mist system to keep mini-mortals cool. There’s also a tree-house restaurant where you can feast on Asian-inspired cuisine amid the banyan trees. TATYANA LEONOV DHAALU ATOLL, REPUBLIC OF MALDIVES; FROM $US995 A NIGHT; NIYAMA.PERAQUUM.COM

go browsing Luxe.It.Fwd is an online boutique developed by Brisbane-based Miranda Gillespie, commercial lawyer by day and self-confessed bagaholic by night. The boutique offers two services: it sells pre-owned, highly covetable designer handbags at up to 60 per cent off their original retail price, and it offers a place where owners of bags gathering dust at the back of wardrobes can find grateful new owners for their precious cargo. Gillespie guarantees the authenticity and quality of all her stock, as well as fast shipping and premium packing.

We’re big believers in Lomography’s spontaneous photography ethos at Weekender, particularly its havefun-anywhere instant cameras that produce quirky, credit-card-sized photos you can stick on your fridge door in a matter of seconds. Joining the range this spring is the quite beautiful Kyoto, the body of which features a print inspired by the romantic traditional gardens of the Japanese city after which it’s named. It’s super easy to use: just load the Fuji Instax mini-film, point and shoot while taking full advantage of the Lomo’s manual shooting modes that enable the zany, experimental techniques the brand is known for. Enjoy. KATHY McKINNON LOMO’INSTANT KYOTO EDITION (INCLUDES THREE LENSES), $US159, OR $US213 WITH FIVE PACKS OF FUJI INSTAX MINI-FILM; SHOP.LOMOGRAPHY.COM.AU
