The Role

To successfully manage Chemonics UK, an affiliate of Chemonics International in the United Kingdom and its portfolio of international programs. Provides strategic vision, leadership, staffing, and management to ensure Chemonics fulfils its mission and is positioned to ensure programme success, client satisfaction and continued growth. Serves as a company officer for Chemonics International Inc. in the UK, remaining informed of Chemonics’ direction and programmes and fostering strong working relationships between other Chemonics business lines, divisions, field offices, clients, and other stakeholders.

Develops and manages UK overall and annual business plan and budget for quality results and growth, creating a positive environment that motivates staff, promotes teamwork, enhances Chemonics’ industry reputation, and ensures Chemonics operates

Main purpose of the role:

• Develops and executes the annual business plan. Allocates resources and manages the budget to achieve business plan goals, developing effective approaches to meet resource needs and holding staff accountable for achieving targets.

• Assesses UK systems and structures and leads change, as needed, to ensure continual efficiency of UK operations and global service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Ensures effective and efficient client service and management of technical, operational, risk, and financial management of Chemonics UK global activities and operations.

• As a company officer, models and advocates strong leadership principles and competencies in Chemonics’ UK office and international project offices that are consistent with Chemonics’ shared mission, culture, and values of caring, excellence, innovation, integrity, and opportunity. Attracts and retains best possible talent and fosters an inclusive leadership culture.

• Provides leadership in Chemonics’ UK’s contribution to technical and international development programming priorities.

• Provides strategic vision to deliver sustained and profitable growth of Chemonics UK and the systems and structure to deliver that vision.

• Creates a positive environment that motivates staff, promotes teamwork, enhances Chemonics’ UK industry reputation, and ensures Chemonics UK continues to operate profitably and in an ethical manner. Promotes an optimistic, collaborative, inclusive, and transparent culture.

Ensures that business development and project efforts apply best practices, provides advice and counsel in problem solving situations, and ensures that projects are meeting technical objectives and making lasting contributions to international development.

• Develops and maintains an effective outreach and thought leadership strategy to promote Chemonics’ mission and approaches in the wider community.

• Develops, promotes, and directs the implementation of all policies and procedures, particularly Chemonics’ equal opportunity and safeguarding policies, to ensure compliance with all legal requirements, best practices, and Health and Safety regulations.

• Establishes long-lasting, positive relationships with all key internal stakeholders, including Chemonics UK staff in the UK and overseas, other members of Chemonics’ Executive Management team, the President and CEO, and Board of Directors, and external stakeholders including the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, other HMG organisations and partners, and European donors and partners.

• Represents Chemonics in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments, for example in contracts, subcontracts, and task orders to strategically and competitively secure the most effective contract terms for the company.

•Ability to conceptualise, outline, perform, and direct research and writing of technical documents (reports, proposals, professional articles) of at least twenty-five pages, following Chemonics’ style and best practices.

• A sound understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques.

•Ability to travel and work anywhere were Chemonics’ clients implement development projects, for at least 8 to 12 weeks a year.

Skills:

• A wide knowledge of the industry is preferable.
