About eHealth-Africa
eHealth Africa (eHA) is a non-profit organization based in Nigeria dedicated to building stronger health systems through the design & implementation of data-driven solutions that respond to local needs and provide underserved communities with tools to lead healthier lives. This includes strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world and expanding access to preventative health interventions like vaccines, healthcare, nutrition, and research of diseases in West Africa. eHA is based in Nigeria and supports projects across Africa.

The Executive Director position has the overall strategic and operational responsibility for the organization. The Executive Director (ED) reports to the Board of Directors providing feedback and seeking consultation when necessary. Responsibilities include providing guidance to the senior leadership team on operational planning, program planning, human resource planning, financial planning, community relations/ advocacy and risk management. The ED has overall responsibility for development and oversight of the organizations long term plans. This includes approval of all capital and operational budgets. The ED acts as a liaison between the donor/fundraising community and the organization. S/he establishes and maintains external contacts with individuals and organizations that share the organizations short- and long-term goals related to design and implementation of data-driven solutions for stronger health systems in the developing world. 3

Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Strategic Vision and Leadership:
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership team to develop, refine and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff and priorities are aligned with eHA’s core mission • Provide inspirational leadership and direction to eHA staff, and ensure the continued development and management of a professional, innovative and efficient organization • Establish effective decision-making processes that enable eHA to achieve its long- and short-term goals and objectives • Foster excellent working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, government officials, and other stakeholders to help achieve eHA’s goals • Assess problems to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem. • Modeling and setting the company’s culture, values, and behaviour • Develop appropriate goals and strategies for the organization and monitor and track implementation
Board of Directors Liaison:
• Lead eHA in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors • Communicate effectively with the Board and provide all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions in a timely and accurate manner • Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board and ensure open communication about the measurement of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones and goals • Support the development of and report on predetermined organizational health metrics • Actively and enthusiastically participate in bi-annual performance reviews
Infrastructure and Operations:
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services while managing for current and future growth • Create and promote a positive, multicultural work environment that supports consistency throughout the organization’s strategy, operational methods, and data collection needs • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communications with staff throughout the organization • Set financial priorities accurately to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of the program and staff • Oversee implementation of employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of eHA • Responsible for overall risk management of eHA and ensures the safety and security of all personnel and property by obtaining accurate information in countries where eHA works
Financial Performance and Viability:
• Responsible for the fiscal integrity of eHA, including submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization • Oversee the financial status of the organization including developing long- and short- range financial plans, monitoring the budget and ensuring sound financial controls are in place • Identify fundraising strategies and develop other resources necessary to support eHA’s mission. • Develop external relationships and establish stronger brand identification in an effort to garner new donor & fundraising opportunities. • Expand revenue & fundraising activities to support existing programs while managing overhead expenses. • Develop and implement fundraising systems

Responsibilities Program Management and Development:
• Ensure that eHA programs and services contribute to the organization’s mission and reflect the priorities of the Board • Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization’s programs and services • Increase efficiencies and consistency throughout the organization by developing and implementing shared program services and communications strategies • Oversees the development of tools/procedures to ensure the proper measurement of outcomes of health system programs.
Communications & Public Relations
• Establish & maintain positive and productive relationships with the media, industry and industry representatives, recipients, government organizations and communities, including national and international stakeholders. • Serve as primary spokesperson for the organization and promotes collaborative cooperation towards achieving a collective vision of prosperity in the health sector in Africa. • Develop and expand existing relationships with government agencies at the local, state and national levels to identify additional opportunities reach expand access to preventative health interventions.
• Establish an ongoing dialog with academic intuitions to create collaborative opportunities to publish/communicate program outcomes to validate results and encourage replication of data-driven solutions. • Responsible for communicating to outside agencies and the donors/fundraising community updates and accomplishments of the organization. • Establish and maintain working relationships with U.S. legislative committees and international organizations tasks with improving health care in the developing world. • When required/requested, offer insight to similar organizations in an advisory capacity by participating as a board member or committee member. • Effectively promoting the organization • Advocating for the work and the mission of the organization
Additionally, the Executive Director must:

Candidate profile The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to successfully perform this job.
Africa Experience
• Significant experience working in Africa required
Leadership Experience
• Minimum of 8 years relevant experience, at least 5 years in a managerial role • Ability coordinate and ensure workforce work in line with organisational value and culture to meet goals and perform well in the future • Must be able to work as a leader and member of a team and possess good problem-solving skills. • Demonstrated executive/managerial skills, including experience managing complex programs • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. • Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. • Strong leadership skills that include the ability to build effective teams, ability to motivate others, delegation, and timely/quality decision making. Training and presentation experience is preferred. • Must possess the ability to organize, instruct and supervise staff while promoting group effort and achievement. • Must be able to work as a leader and member of a team and possess good problem-solving skills. • Must have the ability to manage conflicts and resolve problems effectively. • Approaches others in a tactful manner. Reacts well under pressure.

Candidate profile NGO Knowledge / Experience
• Knowledge of principles and practices of contract administration for public agencies, NGOs and accounting theory, principles, and practices, which can be applied. • Adherence to defined policies and procedures, monitor and evaluate direct report • Ability to interpret and follow donor guidelines • Knowledge of financial management • Knowledge of project management • Knowledge of budget management • Strong project management skills, including experience in agile practices and frameworks e.g., Lean, Scrum, Agile PM and Kanban.
Business Development & Partner Relationship Management Experience
• Experience in developing and implementing partnership development activities • Experience working with the local government, universities and professional organizations • Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate via writing, public speaking and interpersonal interactions • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with Board of Directors, funders, community organizations, government officials, corporate executives, general public and staff
Personal Skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to work independently and effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking • Entrepreneurial mindset, including ability to work independently, self-motivate, and propose and implement new initiatives • Proven ability to work with diverse and large teams and to foster a positive working environment with local and international stakeholders
Personal Skills
• Advanced computer skills, including google drive, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite. • Proficiency working within specialized software utilized in the program
