The Partos Executive Director (ED) serves the branch organisation and is the director of the Partos bureau. The ED reports to and is responsible to the Board for the activities of the team as per the statutes of Partos.

The Role
a proven track record of success in relation to the institutional landscape & policy instruments for international development, specifically with Dutch MoFA. The person is a modern team leader, emphatic, and able to create a safe space for learning. In addition, aware of current trends and debates in Civil Society around the future of international development cooperation.
Comfortable with a ‘servant leadership’ style, serving the team and organization first the ideal candidate would have spent time in environments shaped by a spirit of partnership and collaboration. Having taken on progressively growing responsibilities in other organisations and networks, the person would be at ease in engaging at the highest organisational level in the private and public sectors.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in dealing with international organisations, government, civil society and innovators, an ability to communicate to a diverse audience, and a proven track record in catalysing change initiatives. The person will have the ability to proactively develop and grow strategic relationships. The person is familiar with the Dutch ‘consultation culture’. The person does not necessarily come from the sector, but does have extensive knowledge of the sector. The person is a fluent Dutch and English speaker.

The person is aware of both the ideals and goals of the member organisations and their institutional interests. The person knows what goes on in civil society and in The Hague.

The director has at least five years of experience as the leader of a development organisation, a branch organisation or comparable organisation, either having final responsibility or managing a team of substantial size. The person has worked in a multi stakeholder environment.

The director is responsible for good governance and integrity based on the Partos Code of Conduct. The person works permanently for an open relationship with the board, proactively informing it and frequently coordinating with the chair. The director is responsible for people management, finances and organisational effectivity at the Partos team.

The director as the ambassador of Partos and what the organisation and its members stand for is an effective and convincing communicator, able to listen well and transform formal and informal messages and signals into policies and points of view.

Strategy & positioning
The director recognises the importance of paying attention to integrity and communicates this internal and to members.
The director is responsible for strategy development and implementation and strategic positioning of Partos in the field of government and government agencies, member organisations and other relevant players.
The person makes sure that policies are coordinated with the members, finding the right balance between creating a support base and challenging the status quo.
The director maintains an active relationship with all Partos members and is aware of their priorities and particularities.
The director is responsible for strategy development and implementation and strategic positioning of Partos in the field of government and government agencies, member organisations and other relevant players.
Membership & stakeholder management
Good secondary employment conditions, including a holiday allowance and year-end bonus, travel allowance (NS business card), excellent pension scheme (PFZW), telephone and home working allowance, and a lively working atmosphere in a pleasant and easily accessible office in Amsterdam-Duivendrecht.
7 | Partos Executive Director
Partos offers a permanent contract with a gross salary of a minimum of € 5.356 up to a maximum of € 7.363 based on 36 hours, periodic grading according to relevant experience.
