region and to providing its residents with the most comprehensive medical services available this day and age. The hospital is approximately 600,000 square feet and stands five stories high, plus a lower level. It houses 217 beds, a 13-bed acute rehabilitation unit, 10 operating rooms, and more. Its advanced technology and carefullyplanned, efficient layout add to the hospital’s pleasantness. In comparison to its old location, the newer hospital has a more efficient flow for both patients and staff. The old hospital seemed like a maze; it was broken up into two different buildings. “We’re a regional hospital, so we wanted to give it a regional feel,” said Jondi Roberson, the Director of Marketing and Provider Relations. Architects examined and researched the Ole Miss campus and community in order to bring in aspects that reflect all that is Oxford. Most of the first floor is filled with art from local artists that are “indicative of the Oxford region,” according to Roberson. Paintings of some of
Ole Miss’s most beloved buildings in bright, vivid color hang above couches in waiting areas. Shelves of William Faulkner memorabilia are situated in the lobby. The main entrance lobby of the hospital is one of its most impressive features. High ceilings, plenty of seating, and a welcoming front desk greet visitors upon arrival. A roomy cafeteria, coffee shop, and gift shop each lie adjacent to the lobby. With an appearance that rivals a five-star hotels’, the hospital’s lobby is both appealing and a place of comfort. In 2019 alone, BMH North Mississippi welcomed 45 new physicians into the fold in an effort to provide patients with state-of-the-art care in their own back yard. For over nearly 30 years, their physicians and staff have been caring for patients while focusing on innovation, research and quality. The services they provide to our community offer access to great healthcare close to home. Their care providers are here for you in times of need, but also as your neighbors, friends and family. Now is the time to get better with Baptist. INSIDE OXFORD | 53
