SOPPEC HAS BEEN IMPOSING ITS BRAND SINCE 1962 A European leader which continues to score points

KEY EVENTS Founded in 1962 by Christian de Maillard, SOPPEC was initially a Charente-based company which elaborated paints, wood maintenance products and varnishes for professional use. On the eve of the 1990s, the company was specialising in the design, manufacture and marketing of innovative marking systems in aerosols. Intended initially for forestry marking professionals, the SOPPEC aerosols have made a successful name for themselves in the building and public works world, carried by the development of an innovative, patented safety spray cap.

A BRAND WHICH RESPECT MAN AND THE ENVIRONMENT INTERNATIONAL COATINGS CARE® COMMITMENT SOPPEC pioneered the introduction of the COATINGS CARE international programme into France in the 1990s. An initiative specific to the coatings industry (paints, glues and adhesives, inks, etc.), the Coatings Care Programme has been implemented in more than ten countries worldwide, including the USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Australia and France, for more than ten years. Its signatories undertake to consider and control the impacts of their activities on health, safety and the environment. They are therefore adhering to genuine ethics of responsibility and on-going improvement.

QSE-CERTIFIED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The QSE integrated management system is based on three certifications - ISO 9001 for Quality, ISO 14001 for the Environment and OHSAS 18001 for Health and Safety. In these three complementary fields, the SOPPEC approach is based on analysing and preventing risks, on-going improvement of performances, compliance with regulatory requirements and customer satisfaction. The triple certification has been renewed successfully every three years since 2004.

TAKING UP THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGE Today, the certifications obtained by the company and their renewal commit SOPPEC to a path of real sustainable development policy. This policy is henceforth defined in the charter below.

SOPPEC COMMITMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT • Make environmental protection, human health and responsibility for individuals the conditions of its survival. • Promote internally a genuine sustainable development attitude, where social dialogue, awareness-raising, staff training and an organisation to achieve this reign supreme. • Act as an ambassador for sustainable development to its customers, suppliers and partners. • Behave as a socially responsible company by conducting a policy of transparency, on-going improvement and listening. • Contribute to the search for and development of ever-safer products. • Comply with and even anticipate the health, safety and environment regulations for an economically acceptable cost. • Make its ethical and law-abiding behaviour the fundamental rule in its commercial initiatives.

C H A R A C T E R I S T I C S STORAGE & HANDLING

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF USE

The aerosols should be stored between 15 and 25°C and 50% to 60% relative humidity. Do not expose to a temperature greater than 50°C. Keep away from all ignition and heat sources and direct sunlight. As with any other handling and storage operation, it is especially recommended NOT TO SMOKE.

Regardless of soil type, the following conditions must be required for a good application of TRACING®: Correct preparation of the surface to be painted is absolutely essential so that the paint adheres well. Clean the surface carefully so that it is free of dust, dirt, grease, etc. The hygrometry rate should be between 10% and 15%. The application temperature should not be less than 5°C. For a good quality line, the first pass must be quick (outline coat); on the other hand, the second and, if necessary, third pass will be slower to obtain the desired coverage.

APPLICATION METHOD Manually or with our application equipment (four-wheel trolley, gun handle, see page 15). Drying time: 15 to 20 min. HEALTH AND SAFETY Consult the material safety data sheets free of charge on the Internet: www.quick-fds.com.

Recommendations per soil type: CONCRETE When applying TRACING® on new ground, a minimum of three to four weeks is necessary for the concrete to dry out (DTU standard) and all acidity to be eliminated.

There are many types of paints in this field and TRACING® may not be compatible with the floor paint (giving adhesion problems). It is therefore advisable in these very special cases to test in advance. • The lines can be coated with our PROTECT LINE varnish (see page 12) to increase further their resistance over time and their resistance to grime. LAWN AND GRASS At least two passes are advisable to produce a crisp, covering line. Consult the technical sheet or contact our services for the best conditions for using this product. advice on use

ASPHALT It is advisable to wait at least two weeks to mark on a new asphalt surface to avoid changing the marking quality. • Upside down, adjust the application height with the equipment used depending on the desired line width • BEFORE USE: Shake the aerosol with the upside down to mix the paint properly even after hearing the beads clearly • AFTER USE: purge upright (until only gas is released) to clean valve and spray.

• BEFORE USE: Shake the aerosol with the upside down to mix the paint properly (you can hear the beads clearly).

• AFTER USE: purge upside down (until only gas is released) to clean valve and spray.

SIGNALLING PAINTS

Manual application or using our application equipment (handle). • This product can be used for markings visible in the dark after illumination by a natural or artificial light source; for example, emergency exits, safety areas in tunnels, extinguisher locations,

miscellaneous signalling, etc. • It is a good idea to apply one or two coats of white paint in advance to any non-white surface. The whiter the surface, the greater the marking luminosity. • Spray fine, even coats onto a clean, dry surface from 10 to 20 cm away. • The thicker the PHOTO LIGHT, the longer it will last and the more intense it will be. The photoluminescence of the paint can be renewed indefinitely without loss of quality. Can be used on all types of surface provided they are white or covered with a white undercoat (concrete, wood, bitumen, metal and stone, etc.). A test is recommended in advance on plastic surfaces to check compatibility. Protect adjacent surfaces if necessary to prevent projections (mist).

reflect light

®

RETRO-REFLECTIVE MARKING spray REFLECT LIGHT® is a retro-reflective varnish aerosol which becomes luminous in darkness in a beam of light (torch, vehicle headlights, etc.) • It is formulated with specially-treated glass microbeads. A «safety» solution for easy signalling of a natural obstacle or particular risk in poor visibility, outside or inside. Numerous applications for an effect similar to signage panels: signalling a hazardous area, marking out a route, securing premises, sites, signage for sports events.

PROPERTIES Long lasting over time: six to twelve months (depending on the surfaces and application conditions) • Applicable in one thin coat on all surfaces and materials. • Good adhesion. • Quick drying: 5 min. • Immediately highly reflective at night in a direct light beam (30 to 40 m).

advice on use

• Apply to a clean, dry surface. • Apply thin, even coats 10 to 20 cm from the surface (application by successive tints) • Take care not to overload the applications to achieve maximum reflective power. A single thin coat is normally required (except on porous surfaces). • During the day, the application should be barely visible. • Can be applied to all types of surface (concrete, wood, bitumen, metal, stone, etc.).
