Bears and Lady Bears will help kick-off Homecoming weekend with fan event. SPRINGFIELD — Missouri State basketball fans will have their first opportunity to see the Bears and Lady Bears in action on Friday, Oct. 18 with the annual “Twilight Tipoff ” fan event that will help kick off Homecoming weekend on campus. Due to setup for a weekend concert at JQH Arena, this year’s Twilight Tipoff will take place at Hammons Student Center and will immediately follow the MSU volleyball match against Loyola Chicago. The volleyball match starts at 7 p.m., with free admission for the match against the MVC’s newest member. The basketball portion of the evening is also free and will begin with autographs after the volleyball match is completed, at approximately 9 p.m. For the Twilight Tipoff, fans will have an opportunity to meet MSU’s coaches and players before the action begins on the floor. The Bears and Lady Bears will sign autographs and distribute schedule cards and posters before hitting the hardwood for the preview event. The format of the Twilight Tipoff will include a three-point contest, dunk contest, fan interaction, games and giveaways, in addition to a brief scrimmage by each squad. Bears head coach Paul Lusk begins his third year at the helm with eight lettermen and four starters returning, in addition to five talented newcomers. First-year Lady Bears’ head coach Kellie Harper has nine letter winners and three starters back along with four incoming freshmen. Season tickets for the Bears and Lady Bears are on sale now.
