“I enter a building, see a room, and –in the fraction of a second- have this feeling about it. We perceive the atmosphere throughout emotional sensibility –a form of perception that works incredibly quickly, and which we humans evidently need to help us survive. Not every situation grants us time to make up our minds on whether or not we like something or whether indeed we might be better heading off in the opposite direction. We are capable of immediate appreciation, of a spontaneous emotional response, of rejecting things in a flash. “ Zumthor, P., & Galbraith, I. (2006). Atmospheres: architectural environments, surrounding objects (Vol. 10). Basel: Birkhäuser.

Location: Söğütözü, Ankara, Turkey Subject: Designing an Architecture School in Tobb Etu Campus Students: Özge Süvari, Cansu Usta Instructors: T. Nur Çağlar, Işıl R. Sipahioğlu, Zelal Öztoprak
The project took the inspiration from Walter Benjamin’s Flaneur and Collector terms. The school we dreamed of is a place where we recollect things we collect from the environment. There are no students or instructors in “the hub of recollection” anymore, but there are collectors, nomad studios we move around the cities. Collectors came to the hub for learning how to express themselves in spaces provided for them. Then they’ll decide their routes, take their nomad with them and learn through the conferences, workshops, activities around the world. After all, collectors came to “the hub” for exhibiting their works, telling their stories.

2- Architecture is directly related to recognize the environment, perceive and take advantage of it. Architecture education seeks to create a more active relationship with the environment. 3-Perception, which is the process of obtaining information from the environment, changes and strengthens as it observes the environment. It is therefore active and purposeful. 4- The observation ment. The human Iain Borden stated 5ent

school educates individuals who perceive the environment with differof seeing and transfer the knowledge they have acquired to their productions.

(Nezih Eldem)

SITE PLAN - CONCEPT
Project site, Kozlu mining establishment, is located in Zonguldak which has a big part of the coal production in Turkey. However, closing the mining is became a topic due to the cost of coal operation, the reduction of reserves. The coal, which is not a renewable energy source, is about to come to an end as seen in the Ruhr, Germany. In mining operations, not only the concepts such as labor, workers solidarity and production, but also mine accidents, workers' deaths, rant wars are engraved in the memory of the city which is not represented through space.

Location: Gdansk, Poland Subject: Kindergarden Instructors:
“Materials and colors also play important role in the architecture from both interior and exterior of the design. Needless to say, it is essential for children to touch natural materials in the course of their development. Children treat colors differently from adults. Adults maybe sometimes be unable to stay in too many colors, but children must be able to fully digest and absorb the joy of colors and the environment.

CONCEPT
Invertention site is located between university campus-park and a hospital which is not a good connection for kids.So while positioning, followed the other direction of buildings nearby and moved to kindergarten a little more north-east.
For making benefit of the slope in the area and having different entrances for comunity area and kindergarten, there are two different entrance of the building.
With the advantage of level differences, different zones and their different privacy needs seperated from each other. However, different zones connected with a circulations with a visible volume between them.”Circulation zone” is more includes “wc, circulations, elevator, staricase and other useful servises for the building.”
Volumes are tried to be created as simple as function and visible from the outside. For having more sunlight in the classes and open spaces, classes are located in the south elevation and also playground.

MODEL
The most important things about the area is lack of technology, materials and specialized workers for constructing a building, which means basic, local materials and developed empathy towards the locals is strongly needed. For this reason, we started to search for a space that allows other activities like celebrations, local dances even marketplace for becoming together and socializing with the help of three-dimentional exterior walls and designed a courtyard surrounding the big tree in the street.

Droga Zielona and Hallera Street , which are big street and important connections for the city, are sorrounds the area. However, big green parks create a ring that protect the Green Stadion district and that invite other people to have a walk in the park, maybe after a match or after seeing a relative in Wrszescz district. Moreover, one of the most important thing in design is it is a connection betweennew invesments, new growing lifes and an old district but it has its own publicity with a nice square and art center for the new comunity. The district and they create new spaces for meeting, for coltivating for playing.
40
First impressions: Area of intervention consist of allotment gardens with huge greenery not used for public purposes with its fruit trees.Which seems more interesting in the site is the surrounding area with a big scale structure (stadium), industrial district and investments nearby. First ideas: Especially old citizens of Gdansk are very connected to the allotment gardens in the area. Thus, first purpose is designing a new type of greenery connected to the city life but having less useless space as it is before.Designing a new space connected to the investments nearby and public transportation so the area will be accesible from the city.

isolation pods 08
Location: Shanghai, china Subject: Space of a dream Instructors: Tolga Hazan
Inspiration comes from our own dreams... As a place where one can lose in giant books, the dream place of myself is for isolation and searches the possibility of individual space in the dense urban context. The idea is designing isolation pods between the two big structures, jin mao tower and Shanghai World Trade Center, where thousands of people work and didn’t have personal space and one of the most crowded and dense areas of the world.
46
CONCEPT According to the data collected, there is more than million people working in these unique area of the city. The most important question about the design is how can we design for an individual’s interest? So the main intention was not designing everything for one but giving them a space provided for individual activities. Interest areas are determined by the data collected from the surveys, and these pots which are more numerous are grouped and their numbers are determined from the data. It is thought that the diversity of the different units designed according to the groups will provide the individual with the opportunity to choose their own place.
