Field Research
The goal is to capture data, research and critically analyse a chosen route through Manchester. Students are encouraged to use a varied set of methods and media to record a journey, building up a narrative through the city. The field research, should be used as a platform to generate research in relation to your chosen route, build a dialogue between various urban properties [ie. Buildings, bridges etc] and agents [ie. People, traffic etc] within the city. You are to plan and arrange how to communicate succinctly all the information you absorbed. Central to the development of your understanding of the data is how you translate it in a meaningful way. Equipment
We are looking at various means of transport, primarily the bike. If you are able to join us on Friday with two wheels that's great – if not don't worry. We will group-up on Friday and distribute routes. What may you need to bring on Friday? Sound Recorders, Cameras, Video Cams, Sketch Pads, etc... etc... [the choice is up to you, the more inventive you can be about how to record your route the better!]
