Tomorrow's Hope is Built on Seeing Today's Reality Pastor Charles F. Simpson, Jr. North Baltimore Antioch Church Without the aid of "on-hand" statistical data, I make a very opinionated, yet valid estimation of one major factor in a number of reported missing and exploited children: the overwhelming increase in the breakdown of the traditional family structure. Our society as a whole is deteriorating in ethics, morality and goodwill towards its fellow man. It is often said that many segments of our society are nothing more than a microcosm of society as a whole. I tend to look at it from the opposite end of the spectrum. It is the family unit which shapes and defines the intricate fabric of our society; determining the make-up of the same. It is the very core and root. When the family unit is dysfunctional, the society made up of these units break down. Quite frankly, society is a sum of the individual parts; the family unit being the common denominator. In my 16 years of ministering and 12 short years of pastoring in the metropolitan city of Baltimore, I have watched a rapid decline in the "basic support system" for our children. It is this system, centralized by “mom and dad,” then reaching into the extended family and beyond that is an essential element in shaping our children into functional parts of society. A strong family support system goes a very long way in establishing the strong foundation our young people need to survive the troubles we face in our world today. There is a massive attack on the traditional family unit. Once, the "Cleavers" of TV Land's ‘Leave it to Beaver’ was a model of the typical American family and the "Cosby" family of ‘The Cosby Show’ displayed the ideal family unit. However, they quickly went from being idols of envy to ideals to be mocked and ridiculed. Now, the "modern" family has replaced the traditional one in Hollywood and otherwise. In this modern family, having most of its individual members living severely dysfunctional lives and portraying the darkest vices of our day is not only acceptable, but considered the ‘norm,’ ‘cool,’ and humorous. While this trend affects many families across our nation, the downtrodden, poverty-stricken and underprivileged families tend to suffer the worst. It is like pouring salt in an open and infected wound. Unfortunately, the children of these families, being the most vulnerable population, fall prey to and are victimized more than any other group in society. Without seeing the reality of today, there is little hope for tomorrow. It is my intent to educate and empower as many individuals and families who have been labeled "underprivileged." Their situation and manner of life CAN change! This is not a scholastic education, but one about self-worth, hope for tomorrow, value of human life and regard for personal property. Many in our society are stained by feelings of abandonment and neglect. Countless more are victims of broken homes and mental, physical, sexual and other types of abuse. The shame and inner turmoil a person may experience from these experiences alone is enough to cripple them for life. My hope is to significantly impact the lives of such families and children through recognition, healing of the inner person, forgiveness, and starting anew. This new chapter is built on faith, peace with self, confidence and esteem. Only then can we end the vicious cycle of broken homes, hopelessness, shame, poverty, and reckless abandon. Additionally, I would love to see City and State government officials, well-funded institutions and well-established organizations begin to place stronger emphasis on increasing the high school graduate rate of our inner city students. Furthermore, such agencies could work on developing new incentives for future inner city college students to help carry out this effort. Education greatly affects self-esteem and self-value of our young people. We all can work to enhance a culture with the mindset of overcoming and achieving. When government, corporate, non-profit and non-secular circles of this nation work in unison, each from its area of influence, we can affect the families and children in our great nation who are suffering the most. Indeed, we could change our immediate world! Please visit : www.northbaltimorechurch.org for more information on service times and community outreach programs. P.E.A.S Magazine

Message From The Editor Were you aware that a child is abducted every 40 seconds in this country? Moreover, did you know that over 40% of these children are African American? If not, you are not alone because few people are aware of this epidemic. The truth is that African American children receive limited media coverage when they go missing. Sadly, without this exposure it is less likely that they will be safely found. The staff at Peas In Their Pods works diligently to spread awareness about this issue by alerting media outlets as needed when African American children are missing or abducted. The media play a critical role in getting news and information out to the public, maybe in the future the role of reporting will include the safety of our children by alerting the public when one of our children are in danger, especially our African American Children, the response time ; immediate. Our mission is to bring awareness to our communities the plight of these children, and to make them a national priority. P.E.A.S Magazine mission is to feature the faces of our missing children from state to state, along with details about disappearance, vital statistics, law enforcement contact information. It is very important that our children get as much media attention in locating, every second is critical. Every single day media headlines are reporting stories about our children being abused, neglected by persons who are suppose to love, nuture, encourage and support, the numbers are quickly growing. Something is very wrong! They say it takes a village, then we have to do better‌..

Where Is Lauryn Dickens? Nine months old at time of disappearance and still no clues to her whereabouts.. Lauryn was last seen September 7, 2010. She may be in the company of an adult female. Lauryn was last seen wearing a brown onesie with a pink flower and pink dots. The concensious, Lauryn is deceased, if that’s the case, what could this little baby have done to deserve any kind of harm. If anything Lauryn should be the breath of life to a family who would give there all so that she could have much. Maybe Lauryn is still alive and being cared for, and if she is, the responsible person/persons need to speak up. Details : Lauryn lived with her three-year-old brother and their 19-year-old mother, Shakara Dickens, at the Raleigh Village Apartments in the 4900 block of Yale Road in Memphis, Tennessee at the time of her disappearance. Shakara stated that at 11:00 a.m. on September 7, 2010, she gave Lauryn to a strange woman who claimed to be a friend of Lauryn's father, Benjamin Norfleet, who was in jail at the time. Photos of Lauryn's parents are posted below this case summary. Shakara aid the woman came to her because she'd told Norfleet she could no longer care for Lauryn. The woman said she would take care of Lauryn until Norfleet was released from jail. Shakara described the woman as Caucasian, with shoulder-length straight gray hair parted in the center. She was in her forties and had glasses. She wore a white button-down blouse, khaki capri pants and white closed-toe sandals. Shakara gave Lauryn to the woman without asking for any contact information or even the woman's name. She said she never saw Lauryn or the woman again. In the days following Lauryn's disappearance, Shakara went out to a nightclub with her friends, bought new clothes and altered an existing tattoo on her back. She didn't report Lauryn as a missing child until September 15, more than a week after her disappearance. Her mother, Tracey Dickens, insisted on it and brought her to the police station when they realized Lauryn was missing. The police were immediately suspicious of her story and asked Norfleet for corroboration. Norfleet said he never sent anyone to pick up Lauryn and didn't even know any women matching the description Shakara gave. He stated he hadn't spoken to Shakara since late August; beginning on September 1, she suddenly started blocking his calls without explanation. He tried to call her seven times in twelve days and each time his number was blocked. No one besides Shakara reported having seen Lauryn after September 6. Shakara also gave inconsistent explanations for Lauryn's disappearance; at one point, she claimed the baby was with Norfleet's parents, and another time she said she had put her up for adoption. Cadaver dogs indicated the presence of human remains in Lauryn and Shakara's apartment and in the car Shakara drove. A week after Shakara reported Lauryn's disappearance, she was charged with aggravated child neglect, child endangerment and false reporting. Court documents stated the police believed Lauryn was deceased. In January 2011, Shakara was charged with firstdegree murder. At Shakara's trial in March 2012, Tracey, Norfleet and a cellmate of hers were some of the witnesses who testified against her. The cellmate claimed Shakara broke down during a religious sermon in jail and said "God would not forgive me for what I've done" and that she had done "what I was in for." Authorities also found a poem she had written in her cell which they characterized as an admission of guilt. Shakara's defense attorney argued that there was a total lack of physical evidence and insufficient proof that she had harmed or killed her baby. She was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, child neglect and filing a false report. She faces 15 and 25 years in prison at sentencing. Lauryn's body has never been located. Foul play is suspected in her case due to the circumstances involved. (Source) Charley Project Organization http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/dickens_lauryn.html

Written by: A Concerned Mother Where are you Baby Rilya!! The 4-year-old foster child disappeared in South Florida in 2000, sparking a shakeup at the state's child welfare agency. Miami (MiamiDade, Florida) Rilya's body was never found, and authorities have little physical evidence. Rilya Alert Criteria • The abduction is of a child age 17 years or younger • The parent must have contacted law enforcement to report child missing.

When I look at my son I see Trayvon Martin and my heart absolutely breaks! Not only because this was a horrible horrific act committed on an innocent promising young man. Not only because his life was taken away as he begged for help and no one came to his rescue. And not only because this could easily be my son one day. But that this comes as a reality... check that my son will carry the burden of being simply a BLACK MAN living in a world that will consider him a threat because of who he is on the outside rather then the MAN he is on the inside. I can tell him, with all my might, that he can be ANYONE he wants to be and do ANYTHING he wants to do just as Trayvon's parents did. But my heart truly aches because no matter what I say there are some out there who will view him as a BLACK MAN first and presume him as a THREAT. And it just takes that ONE person to do something that changes a life forever. God Bless the Martin family! I could never ever imagine.

• A RILYA Alert may also be issued if the child is classified as a runaway by the police. If the parent has reported missing child and has convincing evidence that child does not have a history of running away, an alert will be initiated within the 1st hour. We recognize that at times, not all information is readily available (ie. license plate numbers, name of abductor, or witness to abduction. In such cases, the available information will be reviewed and verified prior to RILYA Alert. • The law-enforcement agency believes the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death. • All children of color meeting the criteria for the Amber Alert will also receive the RILYA Alert If these criteria are met, alert information is assembled for public distribution. This information may include descriptions and pictures of the missing child, the suspected abductor, and a suspected vehicle along with any other information available and valuable to identifying the child and suspect.

Prenatal Child Abuse GaĂŠtane F. Borders, Ed.S. President, Peas In Their Pods As a child advocate, I normally write and talk about child abuse that happens post-natally. However, today’s blog post is a bit different because it will focus on prenatal abuse. The idea came to me after running across two different recent research studies about pregnancy and the affects of drug and alcohol use during gestation. We all know that pregnancy can be really stressful with all the changes your body goes through, and with the constant worrying that the baby will be healthy. So why not take some of the edge off with a few glasses of wine. HeckCit could help dull the back pain you get in the latter months. Sounds crazy you say! Not according to a group of researchers. In a recent study, they found that "Light drinking is fine, but heavy and binge drinking should be avoided." (Note to self .avoid binge drinking when pregnant. Oh yeah...and any other time!!!) Reports indicate that “pregnant women who drank one or two units of alcohol a week didn't harm their children. The scientific proof is that by age 5, children who were part of the study were still doing well -- able to walk straight lines and touch their noses with the tips of their fingers.â€? I can’t make this stuff up if I tried (sigh). Listen up people (said in my best School Psychologist voice), I encourage you to set the bar higher for your children. Sure, the kids in the research study were able to touch their noses and walk a straight lineCbut could they read and comprehend .recite the alphabetC..hmmmmm or CCspeak coherently? I’m just saying... Another research study about the post-natal effects of Methamphetamine (a.k.a Crystal Meth) has been discussed recently. Crystal Meth is a stimulant drug that wreaks havoc on the nervous system, causing brain changes that could cause anxiety, mood problems, and violent behavior. Researchers found that pregnant moms who use meth can also pass some of these behavioral problems onto their kids. Here’s my questionC.Did anyone ever doubt that there would be repercussions from using meth whether pregnant or not? I consider the use of drugs and alcohol during pregnancy to be a form of child abuse because it harms children physically and intellectually. In fact, it can limit their potential even before they enter the world. Low birth weight, premature delivery, birth defects, learning difficulties, and infant withdrawal symptoms are just some of the problems that can happen. So ladies, please put down the wine glass. The nine months will fly by before you know it. Though you may crave a nice glass of Châteauneuf du Pape, resist that temptation until after the baby is born. Moreover, any illicit drug use is undoubtedly going to affect your unborn child. Trust meCI work everyday with kids whose moms did not heed this counsel, and for those kids being able to touch their noses would, indeed, be a milestone. You might hear contradictory arguments about this issue. Some will swear that a glass here and there is nothing to get worked up about. But would you really want to chance it? Not this mom! However, there is help out there if you are someone who struggles with drug and/or alcohol dependence. Please consult any of the resources below, or contact your healthcare provider for guidance. Monique Smith: The Greener Side of Missing Persons Monique Smith arrived at the Baltimore Guardian Angel Headquaters decked out in the color green. Her green jewelry dazzled in the green hues of her green shirt. Green is such an interesting choice, particularly in Monique’s case, because green represents fertility, life, it is the color of balance, growth, self-respect and well being. The color green adamantly compliments Monique’s demeanor, but it is a false smoke screen that hides an ugly reality that has plagued Monique for her entire life. While Monique’s color choice suggests balance, growth and harmony, her life story exudes pain and unimaginable abuse. Monique has acquired many titles throughout the years, some of which include mother, friend, advocate, and most recently the missing. Monique Smith is a missing person. With tears filled in her eyes, Monique began to explain how she acquired her most recent title as a “missing person” After all, missing people are not approachable, they do not talk, they do not eat, they do not sleep, and for many, the missing is a foreign concept subconsciously forced to the back of the brain, until “the missing” happens to them. Monique began her story by touching the cover of her book, “I Am the Ancestor” and explaining the simple yet crucial meaning behind the cover photo. Pictured on the cover are her hands engulfing four bright green leaves. “The leaves represent my four children. I wanted to leave them a legacy a purpose that I did not have” exclaims Monique. Monique stated that she was 30 years of age when she engaged in a conversation with the woman she knew as her grandmother. Monique questioned her grandmother regarding her mother and her grandmother simply stated “she just showed up with you.” Her grandmother’s words inspired Monique to embark upon a journey, a journey that she is still currently traveling to find her birth mother and other possible family members. For the past 40 some years Monique has not been able to prove her identity. Multiple social security numbers and the lack of a birth certificate has hindered Monique from leaving the country, and at one time, authorities thought she was a terrorist because she could not prove her identity. Her son was presented with an opportunity to travel to China, but was unable to go, because Monique could not prove that she was his mother. Trips to New York, contacting allies of her alleged mother, letters to Oprah and other influential people have fallen on deaf ears, but have not discouraged Monique in the least. “I may be nobody, but I am somebody’s mom” stated Monique. To the eye, no one would suspect that Monique did not come from a loving and caring family. Monique is the proud mother of four. All of her children are well behaved, well mannered, excel in school and are ambitious just like their mother. To date, Monique has raised $12,000 in her advocacy, established a STAND campaign in which she encourages others to take a stand against human trafficking and abuse. When asked what she hoped to accomplish/gain in her quest to finding her birth parents Monique replied, “I may not ever find who my real mother is, but I want people to look for signs in children who are abused. I want people to support families who are searching for their missing children. Keep looking and praying because they could still be out there. I’m a missing person and I’m still here waiting to be found.” After reading Monique Smith’s book “I Am the Ancestor” I was expecting to see a drug addict, a criminal, basically the worse human being on this earth. The years of rape, physical, emotional, and mental abuse that Monique endured could easily be justification for anyone to travel down the wrong path in society. To my pleasant surprise, Monique Smith was none of the above. She is an exceptional woman with a vibrant smile and huge heart, who thoroughly enjoys being a mother, which is something she never experienced, ergo embracing the green hues that compliment her harmonious spirit. Monique Smith has channeled all of the horrible abuse and torture that she endured into being a phenomenal mother and advocate for those who were once like herself, missing and without a voice. Thus, Monique Smith has defied the alarming statistics that cloud and oppress missing persons; for she is a beckon of hope and inspiration for parents to keep searching for their missing children. Where is Jhessye Shockley? On October 11, 2011 a beautiful child named Jhessye Shockley was reported missing. Her mother, Jerice Hunter stated she left her apartment to run errands and upon her return Jhessye was nowhere to be found. At the time, law enforcement believed Jhessye may have unlocked the door and wondered out. A massive search was conducted. Law enforcement, as well as many volunteers, scoured the area in search of Jhessye. She had simply vanished. As the case went on officials began to look at clues in Jhessye’s home. Clues show Jhessye may have disappeared weeks before she was reported missing. School records show that Jhessye was last seen at school in September. Jerice, (Jhessye's mom) stated she kept her out of school due to pink eye and other health issues. As investigators began to dig deeper Hunter grew angrier stating that law enforcement was not giving her daughter’s case the attention it deserved because Jhessye is black, and too much emphasis on her. She even went to the Arizona state capital to protest the fact that her daughter’s case was being overlooked. But perhaps there was reason to investigate Hunter as the evidence grew. Soon after Jhessye was reported missing her teenage sister began to speak up while in foster care. She stated she last saw Jhessye in September. She said Jhessye was beaten and put in a closet. She was deprived from food and water weeks prior to her disappearance. She also stated that the last time she had seen Jhessye, she looked like a zombie and the closet smelled like dead people. It was even more riveting when the teenager stated her mother instructed she and her other siblings lie about the last time they saw Jhessye. Jhessye’s sister raised even more eyebrows when she stated that she had witnessed her mother cleaning the entire apartment with bleach just a few days before Jhessye was reported missing, particularly her shoes and the closet where she had last seen Jhessye. Investigators also discovered that Hunter is no stranger to child abuse. In October 2005 Hunter and her then husband, George Shockley, were brought in on charges of child abuse. She pleaded no contest to corporal punishment and even served four years in prison. She was released in May 2010. George Shockley , a convicted sex offender, is still in a California prison. So it seems as though Hunter was not even supposed to have custody of any of her children because of her past child abuse conviction. It was her

mother, Shirley Johnson, who was supposed to have custody of Hunter’s children and that Hunter only received her children because Johnson allowed her to take the children when she left California to move to Arizona. Evidence also showed that Hunter had in fact recently purchased bleach. Most recently police have begun a search of the Butterfield Station Landfill, about an hour south of the Valley, in hopes of finding Jhessye’s body. Investigators have stated that they believe precious Jhessye has been murdered and her body was dumped in a trash bin in Tempe. They believe it was then that the contents of that bin were transported to the landfill. Jerice Hunter was on Peas In Their Pods radio show and has denied any involvement in Jhessye's disappearance. The question still remains: Where is Jhessye Shockley? Jhessye was five years old at the time of her disappearance. She disappeared from 45th Avenue and Glendale Avenue in Glendale, AZ. She has black hair and brown eyes. She is 3’5” tall and weighs 55 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jean shorts, and pink sandals. Her case is listed as Endangered Missing. There is a current reward of up to $25,000.00 for any information leading to the location or information leading to the resolution of her case. YOUR GOD-SET TIME: An Easter Message Author Sharon Fox Comfort Food For the Mind, Body and Soul This Easter Message is based on the events surrounding the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as chronicled in the gospel Matthew. After Jesus died and was buried in the tomb, the chief priests and Pharisees met with Pilate and said to him, "Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise." Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, so that His disciples do not come at night, steal His body and tell the people, 'He has risen from the dead.' So the last deception will be worse than the first." So Pilate gave them permission to make the tomb secure and they did so by sealing the stone and setting a guard outside it. (Matthew 27:62-65) BUTC When His resurrection day came, there was a great earthquake for an angel of the Lord had descended from heaven, rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it. As a result, the guards shook with fear and became like dead men. (Matthew 28:2-4) Therefore, the Easter Message is: 1. When the time that God has set for your breakthrough comes, you will break through your problems. When the three days that Jesus had said had passed, and the time for Him to leave the tomb arrived, He left the tomb despite it being sealed and guarded. Therefore, it does not matter if the people trying to lock your fate in stone are as powerful as Pilate and the Pharisees or as religious as the chief priests or as armed as the guards. What matters is that when your God-set time for a breakthrough comes, no one and nothing can hinder the purposes of God because it is He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens. (Revelations 3:7) 2. It does not matter what measures have been taken to destroy your life, health, finances, marriage, ministry or career because when the God-set time for restoration comes, all will be restored. The chief priests and Pharisees spent time scheming and plotting to kill Jesus, and now that He was dead they wanted to seal Him in the tomb permanently. They also spent money "sealing stone" and possibly paying for the guards. However, all this effort came to a halt when His Resurrection Day arrived. Therefore, even if your enemies have spent millions to destroy your life, health, finances, marriage, ministry, business or career, do not despair. Even if you can

hear them sealing your fate in stone with false accusations, fictitious statements and doctored reports as they try to ensure that you never get out of your tombstone situation, do not despair. Let the message from this Easter sermon be that the God of the crucifixion on Good Friday is also the God of the resurrection on Easter Sunday and He will get you out just as He got Jesus out of the tomb and Joseph out of jail. 3. God Himself will help you if you are helpless. The dead body of Jesus could not physically roll away the huge stone which had been sealed from the outside of the cave's mouth. Most of his friends were too scared to venture near the tomb and those who ventured were physically too weak to roll the stone away and overpower the guards. But, this did not stop Jesus from leaving the tombstone when His God-set time to leave arrived. Therefore, know without a shadow of doubt that when the time that God has determined for your deliverance arrives, it does not matter if you and all your family and matter if you and all your family and friends are too weak physically or financially to get you out of your tomb situation because God himself can get you out. He can cause earthquakes to destroy the obstacles or send angels to roll away impediments or to kill 185,000 of your enemies in one night (2 Kings 19:35) or cause your enemies to destroy each other (2 Chronicles 20:23) or cause Pharaoh dream a dream like the one that got Joseph out of jail or use any other method. Therefore, know without a shadow of doubt that when the time that God has determined for your deliverance arrives, it does not matter if you and all your family and friends are too weak physically or financially to get you out of your tomb situation because God himself can get you out. Therefore let this Easter Message encourage you by telling you that even if your enemies have done all that is humanly possible to ensure that you will never succeed, as you lie in your tomb just ask yourself this one question, "Has the Lord's arm been shortened?" (Numbers 11:23) And the answer is, "The Lord's hand is not shortened that it cannot save." (Isaiah 59:1) http://goodcookin4u2.webs.com/ P.E.A.S Magazine

In a small dish, combine the olive oil through the paprika. Place the beets on a baking sheet, pour the spice mixture over top and toss to evenly coat. Spread the beets out as best you can. Bake uncovered for about 20 minutes, then remove from the oven and flip the beet slices. Continue to bake and stir them up every 10-15 minutes until they have absorbed most of the marinade, are very soft, and begin to curl and crisp at the edges. Dice and set aside. While the beets are cooking, chop up the beet greens and saute them over medium-low heat in just a bit of olive oil until they are nice and wilted. Add a little vegetable stock (about 1/4 cup) and cover. Cook until tender. When the beets are done, add the greens and brown rice to the beets in a large bowl and stir to combine. The flavorings and any leftover marinade from the beets should nicely disperse onto the rice too. Taste and adjust any seasoning. Standing in the Gap Paula A. Whitebear-Burton My dear friends, this encouragement letter will be a little different in light of all of the chaos that we are now presented with the Trayvon Martin controversy. The encouragement comes from within as we go forward in our fight for justice, not just for Trayvon Martin, but for all of our children…Standing in the Gap. I can remember when I was a child, my grandmother taking my sister and I to Disney World in Orlando, Florida…what a magical place I thought that this was, as I’m sure every person both young and old thought it to be. I was so amused at 6 years of age with all of the beautiful buildings made to look like palaces, and all of the princes’ and princesses that I saw; I never wanted it to end. I wanted to take that experience with me for the rest of my life as I thought this is the way that the world actually was. Little did I know that life is not a fairytale, and that there are not always happy endings like what I read in all of the Disney books my grandmother always bought for me. Life can in many ways be harsh and cold, offering you nothing but what seems to be heartache and pain, a position where you will feel as though you’ll always be stuck and at the bottom. As I begin to grow up, I really begin to see that life was not what was presented to me in Orlando, Florida those days that we spent taking in all of the sights. Life could be indeed cold, so cold that even the winter’s chill had no comparison. I went through so much, wanted so much, and believed so much, only to find that in reality we do not always get what we want like in the fairytale endings we read about. We experience more pain than just the bite of an apple that makes us sleep until a prince offers a kiss and wakes us from an eternal slumber, more than that of a stepmother and two evil stepsisters driving you to be their maid waiting on them hand and foot, more than just a character that in the end rides away in a horse drawn carriage into the sunset. For Trayvon Martin’s family, there is no fairytale ending and like many of our babies that we receive no answers for, there is no fairytale ending. It is all so senseless, all too unreal to be something that we as a society and as a nation must deal with. There is no justice, no peace, and rest in where we are today. How can one sit back and pretend that all is well in these situations when we know that this is not the way that things should be. Well, this is what I say, we must stand in the gap…whether it is in prayer, in a kind word, in a friendly smile, in a courageous step to say enough is enough and hat that you’re going to do something that will be all you and no one else’s’. Standing in the gap is what needs to happen for all of the children that we have lost, and are losing so that we may receive justice for our children. So many lives lost well before they had the opportunity to blossom. Standing in gap because this is what needs to take place in order to for our children to have a life, standing in the gap so that we may see better days for our children. They are our future, our hopes and dreams, our caretakers of tomorrow. We must be the ones that are Standing in the Gap. *To all of those who have lost children to senseless crimes, regardless of what they are, we are all standing in the gap for you so that you may have peace in the midst of your hurt, and so that there may be justice. We will be the voice for those who do not have a voice, and we will be the warriors who are not able to stand in line for battle. To all of our families we love you and never for a moment think that we, Peas In Their Pods are not Standing in the Gap…it does indeed take a village. Much Love and Many Blessings, P.E.A.S Magazine
