Fall 2012 Issue

Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all ~Proverbs 31:29~ As women we worry constantly about; what we should be doing, what should be priorities, and what should be pushed back for later. All these worries are mingled with what others will think and our discernment gets cloudy because we have failed to seek God in lives. Don’t stick your nose up in the air now because reality can be sometimes harsh but, we learn and grow. There is a preoccupation with minding other folk business. We think that we have it all together in our own little world and therefore everyone should be doing it this way over here! However, this makes us a stumbling block to others that are weaker. As I took a break not too long ago I asked God those same questions as to what I should be doing and so forth? The world feeds off formulas and sadly this has crept into the body of Christ. You know the formula; God > Husband > Children > Work we all have gone by in the past, including myself? Well God is saying away with that! No more formulas! My question is, do we just tell the single woman with no children to follow the chart and go with what is next? If we do then who are they really listening too? It sure is not the Father? Yes, there is order and that is not being negated. However, what God has said is in Matthew 6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. We must seek God first and stop looking at man-made formulas. When we seek God first in everything He will show every person individually what should be priorities in their life for each season that they walk through. Therefore, we no longer have to compare ourselves with ourselves because God has something different for all of us and what a wonderful plan it is. If God has told you that all you are to do is sit at home with your children for this season but you have a friend who God is leading to start a small women’s fellowship or small business, please do not persuade her into doing what you are doing. Never push your convictions on someone and it leads them on a path of disobedience. If you feel as though the Holy Spirit is giving you godly counsel to give her, then by all means do so. However, don’t go playing the Holy Spirit outside of that. Everyone has their season and as they seek God first and HIS WILL then He will show them what they should do. Now we can all work together knowing that God has a unique plan for us all. God Bless You 

Real Hospitality An impressive home or expensive entertainment is not necessary if you wish to share the joy of giving and receiving. When you open the doors of your home, you open the doors of your heart as well. Some people grew up in homes where entertaining was easy. Shove the laundry over, grab an extra bowl, stretch the soup for one more person – VOILA! Instant hospitality. But others were brought up to clean the house to sparkling perfection and concoct a lavish meal before guests were allowed in the door. Spotless, new and expensive has nothing to do with compassion, connection and fun. To make guests feel welcome, all you really need to do is simply care that they’re there. The more comfortable you feel, the more relaxed your guests will be. You can practice hospitality by reaching out. Welcome new neighbors with a first-night welcome basket with a new map of the city, the local paper, soap, toilet paper, instant coffee, rolls, and fruit for breakfast. Take a hot dish to a neighbor who is too busy or sick to cook. Treat neighborhood children to milk and fresh baked cookies.

Grocery Shopping Tips #1 The never go hungry rule. Even if you have to eat a sandwich before you leave please there is nothing worse than busting a budget because your eyes are big and long. No you really don’t need to try that new volcano brownie mix in the box!

#2 Make sure to go through your pantry, refrigerator and freezer and write down things you already have before you make your list. This cuts down on your bill by not buying things you already have and you may have enough food for extra days that you can scratch off your list! MONEY SAVED!

#3 If you are on a tight budget make sure to choose meals with 5 or less ingredients. Write out meals for each day and include food for FREE days (FREE days are usually Fridays or Saturdays where everyone who is able to make a meal can make their own which are usually sandwiches and fruit).

#4 Budget within a budget. While you are writing out your grocery list make a budget for your items. For example this month we are only going to spend $50.00 on snack items. This ways when you get to the store and start looking at all the neat snacks choices/ideas it does not matter because when you meet your 50 dollar limit that is it! No more snacks!

#5 Make a side list of things that you want. This includes the dessert you have wanted to try, a small notebook, a new hair product, earrings, crafts projects, etc. When you go into the store there will be some things that are cheaper and are on sale. This is going to leave you with extra money and you can use the extra to put in your pocket or get one or all of those things on your side list.

#6 Do not forget bring a calculator and calculate as you go. This will keep you from getting to the checkout and seeing the total and looking confused and sweating at the same time!  Tips by DeLonda Adams

I think God has planned the strength and beauty of youth to be physical. But the strength and beauty of old age is spiritual. We gradually lose the strength and beauty that is temporary so we'll be sure to concentrate on the strength and beauty that is forever. And so we'll be eager to leave the temporary, deteriorating part of us and be truly homesick for our eternal home. If we stayed young and strong and beautiful, we might never want to leave. J. 10 Easy Ways to be a Godly Wife By: Lisa Ellis Williams TIP #1- Sit quietly beside your husband for 15 minutes. You may be surprised by how much he talks. Tip #2- Remind yourself that you are NOT his mother. Refrain from talking to your husband like he is a child. Tip #3- Seek to share good things about your husband with your family and friends. Talking about his positive qualities will help you keep noticing them. Tip #4- Take care of yourself with the same sense of importance that you care for children and aging parents. Eating healthy foods, exercising, keeping regular medical appointments, and growing in spiritual maturity are your responsibilities not your husband’s. Tip #5- Give your husband gifts that he really wants, not necessarily things you think he needs or things you want him to have. Tip #6- Greet your husband with a smile, and friendly tone of voice. This works in person, over the phone and even in text messages. Tip #7-Make time to rest. Sleep and relaxation help you feel more like being intimate with your husband. Tip #8- Look into your husband’s eyes when you talk to him. This gives him respect and has a way of connecting your souls. Tip #9- Be open to hearing your husband’s bright ideas. He may share his hopes and dreams in those conversations. Tip#10- Remember God is able to answer your prayers and He often uses your husband to do it. www.wivesonpurpose.com

The Event Planner’s Tip Jar By: LaQuitea Vaughn I’m sure in this economy we are all looking for ways to save money. When it comes to parties and weddings the quickest way to save money is through the guest list. Here’s a quick tip for whittling your guest list: Omit children and coworkers (making cuts categorically is less likely to cause rifts); and when it comes to couples, invite spouses and fiancés only. Brides, keep the numbers down for your wedding party as well: Fewer attendants mean less money spent on bouquets, boutonnieres, presents, and transportation. Happy Planning! www.facebook.com/VisionsbyVaughn
