The story of tequila premium REY DEL MUNDO in China.

Our story at China started in November 2015 when we participate in the Hong Kong Wine & Spirits international Fair, and weeks after also exhibited at the INTERWINE Fair in the city of Guangzhou.

Since then, during 2016, 2017 & 2018, the company has participate in several fairs, expos and promotional events around Beijing, Tianjin, Zhuhai and other main cities, always sharing our best premium tequila REY DEL MUNDO with those who wants to know more from Mexico and its most worldwide representative spirit: The tequila.

In that same period, our version of aged tequila, tequila añejo (18 months in oak barrels) has won a GOLD MEDAL in 2016 at the Wine & Spirits Competition Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and 2 years after, in August 2018, a DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL in the China Wine & Spirits Awards CWSA in Hong Kong.

During the second half of 2016, the National Council of the tequila industry (CNIT) announced to us -Casa Tequilera La Herencia- of our first international award - A GOLD MEDAL- obtained by our premium Aged tequila REY DEL MUNDO, given by the organizers of the Spirits Selection Competition in Mexico.

"For all of us it has become proudly a happy moment that encourage our team to continue working hard and keep offering this extraordinary premium tequila to the world".

In August 2018, REY DEL MUNDO participate in the Competition China Wine & Spirits Awards CWSA in the city of Hong Kong, obtaining its second international prize, this time, a DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL.

With this second award, tequila REY DEL MUNDO confirms its international status as a high quality tequila, in an elegant and attractive presentation, different then the average tequilas. Ready to be launched succesfully in the demanding Asian premium products market.

GATEWAY Magazine: How do Mexican like tequila? Which kind is the most popular? PABLO AGUIRRE: We Mexicans drink tequila in many ways, when tequila is good we enjoy it straight, but when it is no so good we do cocktails with it, some of these cocktails are very popular around the world, for example margaritas and tequila sunrise. If you are asking if we drink it with lemon and salt as well, yes, some of us do. Others like to drink it -not mixed but in successive little glasses- together with a mixed of tomato juice, lime and orange juice and some chilli powder, we call this sangrita. If someday you come to México you have to try this way too, and open your mind to new tastes beyond just the lemon and salt.

GATEWAY Magazine: What quality should a good bottle of tequila have? PABLO AGUIRRE: There are many brands of tequila in the market already in our days, just in Mexico registered labels we have more than 1200. But good tequila is made completely and only 100% of blue agave plant and it should be written on the bottle “Tequila 100% de agave”, if only says “tequila” it means it has at least 51% of agave but the rest are other ingredients such as water and sugar. When tequila is good you don´t feel that strong “burning” sensation at your throat when you drink it, neither nor the strong headache the next day. When a tequila is good you don´t even need the lemon and the salt after. Although that way of drinking it continues being the most widespread in the world and to some people is fun.

GATEWAY Magazine: In China, people will produce some wine when they have a daughter and give the wine to her when she get married. So do tequila have some stories like this or have some other customs? PABLO AGUIRRE: This is a great question, because it is more related to the culture, in ancient times under a heavy storm a lighting burned one agave plant, when natives got closer they realized the burning plant has a sweet aroma and a sweet taste. They believed this was the way of Gods to share with them it spirit. In the XVII century distillation techniques for the production of wine and whiskey began to be applied to native plants such as the Mexican agave. The result is something we all share and enjoy now all over the world. Tequila is linked to our worldwide famous cuisine, to our traditional music and to our warm and friendly way to be. Everybody has a Mexican friend who is always cheerful and enjoy the joyful things but also laughs at sad things.

GATEWAY Magazine: What special quality do tequila have? PABLO AGUIRRE: First of all, it cures lovesickness or if not, at least makes you forget it. Other spirits are made based on cereals or barley, but tequila comes from a plant (And from the ancient Gods, remember?), it is said its health benefits are various: Good against insomnia and cholesterol, calms anxiety and good for digestion among other benefits. And the best known of all... is a natural aphrodisiac!

GATEWAY Magazine: 5 Do you have some impressive memory with tequila, like the first time you drink it or the favorite one? PABLO AGUIRRE: Tequila is part of all Mexicans life, even if drink it or not, we have seen it at our homes since ever, it has been spread through the movies worldwide. But I started to learn more since I am in the tequila business, now I can distinguish a good tequila of another not so good. Tequila industry is improving a lot in the recent years and now you can find some very good ones called premium tequila, this one are made to be tasted slowly without any hurry while having a nice chat with friends. There are some very good brands at this category, but of course I have to say the one I like the most is premium tequila REY DEL MUNDO! I bet you will too when you try it!
