HOUSE IN THE PINE WOOD CASA EN LA PINADA
The house is placed in a residential area in a 3,200 m2 plot. The plot contains a huge pine wood in the Southern half, and therefore the house is located in the Northern half, leaving a backyard which works as a pedestrian and vehicular access and also contains some high vegetation as a background of the house. The house, in a only floor looks outside, mainly to the South, where are the best orientation and sights, but in the same time it wants to be a refuge, because of this, a large cantilevered roof as a porch protects the house from the direct sun light on summer whereas it allows the sun radiation let in on winter.

The exterior materiality is rough, cold, like the overbearing climate, with the presence of the concrete or glass. Whilst the interior is sweetened by the use of wood and fabrics, and also with the presence of an inner courtyard, the idea of the sensitivity to the interior, facing the tough climate outside, is more stressed, all of that without renouncing to the natural light. There are also some secondary pieces demanded by the functional programme, but also with the intention on being integrated on the ensemble. That is the case of the pool, placed parallel to the house and with a connection to the porch. It will work as a mirror specially by night. A group of two pieces over a platform, configure required spaces (guest house, barbecue and storage) are wooden materialized, getting integrated with the actual vegetation as a “cabin in the woods“ but connected physically and visually to the house through a path of concrete pieces.
Vivienda situada en una zona residencial, en una parcela de 3.200 m2 La parcela contiene una gran pinada en la mitad sur, es por ello que la vivienda se dispone en la mitad norte, dejando un patio trasero que sirve de acceso peatonal y rodado y que además contiene cierta vegetación de porte alto, que se configura como telón de fondo. La vivienda, en una única planta mira al exterior, principalmente al sur, donde se encuentran la mejor orientación y vistas, pero al mismo tiempo quiere servir de refugio, es por ello que un gran voladizo en la cubierta a modo de porche, protege la vivienda del asoleo directo en verano pero permite que éste incida en el interior en invierno. cificado mediante el uso materiales cálidos como maderas y textiles, además con la presencia de un patio interior, se incide en la idea de cuidar el interior, como protección frente al duro clima exterior, sin renunciar a la luz natural. Se disponen también algunas piezas secundarios que demanda el programa, pero siempre con la intención de integrarlas en el conjunto. Este es el caso de la piscina, que se sitúa en paralelo a la casa y con una conexión con el porche. Servirá de espejo especialmente por la noche. Un conjunto de dos piezas sobre una plataforma, configuran los espacios anexos necesarios (vivienda de invitados, barbacoa y almacén) se materializan con madera, integrándose con la vegetación existente a modo de “cabaña en el bosque” pero conectada física y visualmente con la vivienda a través de un paso de piezas de hormigón.

THE ROUND HOUSE LA CASA REDONDA
The plot contains an existing pretty high vegetation, specially on the central area. We decide respect it and integrate it into the project. Consequently, the house plan is divided into two great volumes connected each other through an exterior platforms. This generates an interior shaded patio, with thicker vegetation, and another exterior sunny patio where the pool is placed. These two volumes look out to the interior courtyard more closed, when closeness it is required, and to the further sea sights through the exterior open patio in order to get views outside the plot without seeing the adjacent houses.

The organic plan is the result of an operation of preserving the existing trees and it is also closed to the three intermediary plots and open to the street in the South, with long views to the sea.

The geometric autonomy of the orthogonal rooms, with respects to the curve in the perimeter, solves the contradiction between the curvy character of the exterior outline (promoted by the random position of the trees) and the necessary rationalization of the domestic use.

The rounded exterior enclosure is treated as a blind shell, only pierced by three orthogonal wooden prisms corresponding to the bathrooms on the first floor.

The result is an ensemble composition which includes the trees and the resultant construction. La parcela contiene una vegetación existente de gran tamaño, especialmente en la zona central. Decidimos respetarla e integrarla en el proyecto. Como consecuencia, la planta de la vivienda se divide en dos grandes volúmenes conectados entre sí a través de unas plataformas exteriores. Esto genera un patio interior, en sombra con vegetación más densa y otro patio exterior soleado donde se ubica la piscina.
Estos dos volúmenes miran al patio interior más cerrado, cuando se quiere cercanía y a las vistas lejanas al mar a través del patio más abierto para obtener visión fuera de la parcela sin ver las viviendas colindantes.

La planta, de carácter orgánico, es el resultado de una operación de ir salvando los árboles existentes y está cerrada a las tres parcelas medianeras y abierta a la alineación de la calle al sur, con vistas lejanas al mar.
El cerramiento exterior del perímetro se trata como un cascarón ciego, solamente horadado por tres prismas ortogonales de madera de los baños de planta primera.

VILLA FLOW VILL A FLOW
The house is placed in a plot with a very particular conditions: - Strong terrain slope up to 50%. - Forced pedestrian and vehicular access through the highest point. - Optimal South orientation due to sun light and privileged sea sights. - The necessary strengthening of the terrain by walls and platforms. Therefore, the built mass must to be placed at the back in the North, in the upper part, looking out to the South. This operation permits to locate the pool and the remaining ground in the lower part towards the sea, solving the accesses at the street level.

The ensemble is outlined as a simple and efficient typological solution. From a great semi-dug platform at the back that takes up almost the half plot, all the day activity is located and a sunny porch as a deck of the pool. Over this platform it is placed a parallelepiped with the bedrooms, closed to the rear dividing wall at North and opened to the solarium and pool, with a lineal and continuous arrangement where the pieces of bedrooms are located, from the master room to the type bedrooms. All the ensemble is treated with a whitewash traditional cladding facade. This finish is extended along the decks over the porches, forming an uniform image. The windows are protected from direct sun radiation by a wooden folding lattice which comes into play in conjunction with the continuous wooden floors in the platform. The retaining walls along the perimeter of the plot and all the exterior platforms, are treated with local stone similar in tone and texture to the traditional walls in the area. The materials that form this ensemble are stone, wood and whitewash walls, getting a finishing unit of large surfaces very convenient to the little scale of the set.

La vivienda se encuentra en una parcela con unas condiciones muy particulares: - Fuerte pendiente del terreno de hasta el 50%. - Acceso forzado peatonal y rodado por el punto más alto. - Orientación óptima a sur por soleamiento y privilegiadas vistas al mar. - La necesaria consolidación del terreno mediante muros y plataformas. Por lo tanto, la masa construida debe situarse en el fondo norte, en la parte más alta, mirando hacia el sur, permitiendo así dejar la piscina y el terreno restante en la parte más baja hacia el mar, solucionando los accesos a nivel de calle. El conjunto se plantea como una solución tipológica simple y eficaz. A partir de una gran plataforma semiexcavada al fondo, que ocupa prácticamente la mitad de la parcela, se sitúa toda actividad de día y un porche soleado al que vierte la piscina.
Sobre esta plataforma se sitúa un paralelepípedo con las habitaciones, cerrado a la medianera trasera al norte y abierto al solarium piscina, con una distribución lineal continua donde se suceden las piezas de habitación, desde la principal, a las habitaciones tipo. Todo el conjunto se trata con un cerramiento acabado en revoco blanco tradicional de la zona. Este acabado se extiende por las cubiertas de los porches, formando un todo continuo. Las carpinterías exteriores, están protegidas por una celosía de madera que entra juego con los solados de madera continuos de la plataforma. Los muros de contención perimetrales de la parcela y las plataformas exteriores en contacto con el terreno, se revisten con piedra de la zona en tono y textura similares a las muros tradicionales locales. En definitiva, los materiales que conforman el conjunto son piedra, madera y revoco blanco, consiguiendo una unidad de tratamiento de grandes superficies muy adecuada a la pequeña escala del conjunto.

All the ensemble forms an L-shape block, open to the Southwest, to gain sunlight and far sights to the sea. Either the volumetry or the outline and the composition are solved in an emphatic and clear way. The materials are stratified according to its relation with the terrain: a reddish clay soil from where a plinth is raised, with a traditional local stone masonry. The structural planes that delimit the first floor and the deck are cut in the air as a lineal continuous ribbon of 60 cm width, with a treatment similar to the local whitewash, drawing clearly the composition. The facades between those planes that configure the rooms, are treated with wooden fixed parts and glass aluminium-framed windows. A group of wooden fix and mobile lattices are arranged to ensure the intimacy and sunlight protection. The pedestrian access is by the street in its highest height, by a door canopy, whereas the vehicular access is by the lowest height of the street, which has enough slope to arrange the garage and the mechanical room on the basement. The house is developed from a platform that configures the ground floor and contains all the bedrooms besides a green yard and the pool in a L shape enclosing the ensemble. The rest of the plot is kept as natural as possible. On the next platform level are located the day areas, on the fist floor, looking out to the sea sights to the Southwest.

Todo el conjunto forma un bloque en L, abierto al sureste, para ganar soleamiento y vistas lejanas al mar. Tanto la volumetría como el trazado y la composición del conjunto se resuelven de forma rotunda y clara. Se estratifican los materiales según su relación respecto al terreno: un suelo de arcilla rojiza desde donde se levanta un zócalo de piedra, con aparejo tradicional de la zona.
se dispone un conjunto de celosías, móviles y fijas de masera para asegurar la intimidad y la protección solar. El acceso peatonal desde la calle se realiza en la cota más alta de ésta, a través de una marquesina de acceso, mientras que el acceso rodado se efectúa desde la cota más baja de la calle inclinada que salva una altura suficiente como para situar en sótano el garaje y cuarto de instalaciones.
Los planos estructurales que delimitan la planta primera y la cubierta se recortan en el aire como una cinta lineal continua de 60 cm de espesor, con un tratamiento similar al encalado de la zona y que dibuja con claridad todo el conjunto.
La vivienda se desarrolla a partir de la plataforma que configura la planta baja y que contiene todas las habitaciones además de un patio plantado de césped y la piscina en L cerrando el conjunto. El resto del terreno se mantiene en lo posible en su estado natural.

ACCESSES RENOVATION HOSPITAL RENOVACIÓN ACCESOS HOSPITAL ALBACETE This project is part of the first phase of the renovation and extension project of the Hospital of Albacete, and expects to adjust the accessibility to the future needs of the new building. When the current building was constructed in 1975, the plot was in the limit of city. It was isolated by a concrete perimeter fence and a thick vegetation, which was appropriate for those environment conditions, since it meant a defense against the aggressive presence of the beltway. The urban development of the city has meant a jump beyond the limits of the beltway, now become in a avenue.

In this phase, the project aspires to open the hospital to the avenue, integrating it with the city and also to rearrange the accesses in order to get maximum accessibility. Este proyecto forma parte de la primera fase del proyecto de reforma y ampliación del Hospital de Albacete, y pretende adecuar la accesibilidad a las futuras necesidades del nuevo edificio. Cuando se construyó el actual edificio en 1975, la parcela se encontraba en el límite de la ciudad. Quedaba aislada por un vallado perimetral de hormigón y una densa vegetación, y que era adecuada a las condiciones del entorno, dado que suponía una defensa frente a la presencia agresiva de la circunvalación. El desarrollo de la ciudad ha supuesto un salto más allá de los límites de la circunvalación, convertida ahora en avenida. En esta fase, el proyecto pretende así abrir el hospital a la avenida integrándolo con la ciudad y además reorganizar los accesos para conseguir máxima aceptabilidad.

It is carried out the following operations:
Se llevan a cabo las siguientes operaciones:
1.- Elimination of the ground parking lot (keeping only an essential band: taxis, ambulance and disabled people) and construction of a two-floors dug parking lot, in parallel to the avenue, in the space between it and the hospital front.
1.- Supresión del aparcamiento en superficie (manteniendo únicamente una banda imprescindible: taxis, ambulancias, personas movilidad reducida) y construcción un aparcamiento excavado de dos plantas en paralelo a la avenida, en el espacio entre ésta y el frente del hospital.
2.-The underground parking lot is covered by a green roof according to the resultant topography, and looks out to the pavement of the avenue and acts as a green plinth and filter along the 250m-length plot, with a proper scale with a geometry and importance according to the building. Two 30 years-old pine trees are preserved by reducing the area underground. 3.- An interior street is arranged inside the plot, pedestrian and vehicular and parallel to the avenue. This road solves all the accesses and the height differences in relation to the hospital ground floor, and also connects the entrance/exit ramps of the underground parking lot. 4.-The unfinished existent walkway connects with the Medicine School, now is finished with an interchange which formally dissolves the presence of the walkway and also it works as a junction that relates the hospital main entrance, the avenue and the underground parking lot.
2.-El aparcamiento se remata con una cubierta verde según la topografía resultante, que vierte sobre la acera de la avenida y que actúa como zócalo verde y filtro a lo largo de los 250m de frente de parcela, a escala de la geometría e importancia del edificio. Se preservan dos pinos de 30 años de antigüedad mediante retranqueo de la superficie de aparcamiento. 3.-Se dispone una calle interior a la parcela, paralela a la avenida, peatonal y rodada. Este vial resuelve todos los accesos y las diferencias de cota con la planta baja del hospital además de las rampas de entrada y salida del aparcamiento soterrado del hospital. 4.-La pasarela existente, que quedaba sin terminar y que conecta con la Facultad de Medicina, se remata con un “intercambiador“ que diluye formalmente la presencia de ésta y en donde se resuelven las conexiones con los accesos al hospital, la acera de la avenida y el aparcamiento subterráneo.

LEISURE AREA FOR A RESIDENTIAL ZONA DE OCIO PARA RESIDENCIAL

Competition for the design of the social and leisure area with pool for a new residential. In a 460m2 area it is required to build a 150m2 pool, a 9m2 for children, locker rooms for about 15 m2, besides a solarium and its circulations. The entrance to the residential it is established in project in the Southwest corner of the plot. One volume which contains locker rooms and showers it is located in the West band in such a way that it is created a space that configures a transition and a filter among the street and the pool. It is decided to place both pools in the Southern band in order to release the Northern one and also to ensure maximum sun radiation. In addition, this clear division allows the integration of a green solarium with the rest of ensemble on Winter time, when the pools are closed and fenced for security reasons.
Concurso para el diseño del espacio social y de ocio con piscina para residencial de nueva construcción. En un área de 460 m2 se ha da construir una piscina de 150 m2, piscina para niños de 9 m2, vestuarios de unos 15 m2, además de solarium y circulaciones propias. El acceso al conjunto residencial está ya establecido en proyecto en la esquina suroeste de la parcela. Se sitúa pues el volumen de vestuarios y duchas en la franja oeste de modo que se crea

un espacio de transición y filtro entre la calle y piscina. Además se dispone un banco corrido y una jardinera que anuncian la entrada y dirigen la circulación. Se decide situar ambas piscinas en la franja sur dejando libre la franja norte para solarium ajardinado de manera que se garantice el máximo asoleo, además esta clara división permite que cuando la piscina esté inutilizada durante el invierno, se pueda cerrar con un vallado perimetral, dejando abierto e integrado el solarium verde con el resto del conjunto.

MULTICULTURAL CENTRE CENTRO MULTICULTURAL The concept of Multicultural Centre hints to the necessity of generating an important public space able to accept every kind of activity. However, either the few size of the plot or the necessary occupation of 2/3 by an enclosed volume, suggests the incorporation of exterior space to the functional programme. Inverting the relative position of the scene and the sitting room, allows to the scenic space to be closely linked to the exterior space (with a machining mobile metallic curtain outdoors-indoors). The volume which uses up all the programme over the plot plan is sectioned in two parts: served space (sitting room) and serving space (cafe, dressing rooms and mechanical room). This operation generates an empty volume between them, as a great hall-street o foyer (as extension of the urban space), so it permits to place all the access at the front of the great exterior space. The building offers infinite possibilities, by using the auditorium outdoors, indoors or both, with the scene in the center position. The cafe has an independent access so it might be even used whereas the rest of the building is closed. All these actions emphasise the capability of the building of interacting with its near environment and the city.
El concepto de “Centro Multicultural” apunta a la necesidad de generar un importante espacio público, susceptible de acoger todo tipo de actividades. Sin embargo, tanto el escaso tamaño del solar como la necesaria ocupación de 2/3 del mismo por un volumen cerrado, sugiere la incorporación del espacio exterior disponible en el frente este al programa funcional. 2016 Competition for Benitatxel Council. Se propone invertir la posición relativa de la escena y la sala, de manera que el espacio escénico se vincula estrechamente al espacio público exterior (con un telón móvil exterior-interior mecanizado). El sólido capaz que agota el programa sobre la planta del solar, se secciona en dos: espacio servido (sala multiusos) y espacio servidor (cafetería, camerinos e instalaciones). Esta operación genera un volumen vacío entre ambos a modo de gran vestíbulo-calle o foyer (prolongación del espacio urbano), consiguiendo que todos los accesos se sitúen en el frente del gran espacio exterior. El edificio ofrece posibilidades infinitas, utilizando el auditorio interiormente, exteriormente o ambos casos con la escena en el centro. La cafetería a su vez tiene acceso independiente por lo que puede utilizarse incluso cuando el resto del edificio está vacío. Todas estas acciones inciden en su capacidad de interactuar con el entorno próximo y la ciudad.

PRIMARY SCHOOL COLEGIO PÚBLICO The North-West band is occupied by the current “San Agustín Primary School“ and a volume that includes 4 pre-school classrooms. The contest lays out constructing a new building which contains 12 classrooms for primary and 2 pre-school that has to complement the four existing ones, in addition to the necessary assets. Aims of the proposal: - Strict compliance of the functional program. - Rationality in the circulations and horizontal and vertical hallways besides the compliment of fire regulations. - Optimal orientation, within the plot possibilities with regard to comfort and energetic economize in heating and cooling resources. - Create an ensemble that transmits an image of educational building, beyond the functional or constructive aspects, capable of seduce for its clarity and eloquence as an open space of integration and knowledge. La franja noroeste de la parcela se encuentra ocupada por el actual Colegio de primaria de San Agustín y un volumen formado por 4 aulas infantiles. 2015
El concurso plantea realizar una nueva edificación que contenga 12 aulas para primaria y 2 aulas de infantil que han de complementar con las cuatro existentes, además de las dotaciones necesarias.

HEALTH CARE CENTRE RENOVATION REFORMA CENTRO DE SALUD The project considers a drastic redistribution in order to avoid user confusion and provide clarity in the building use as a public centre. The new arrangement focus a whole waiting room short sights to the square and the mountains in the horizon. In order to get that fact, is precise to carry out some previous structural actions, which allows moving the lift and the stairs and releasing a continuous central band to public use, in a longitudinal way. This solution permits to place the consulting rooms (10 per floor) in a band parallel to the street and showing a clearly a functional front outside. The consulting rooms are flexible communicated according to the functional needs. Either the fire stairs or the toilets, are placed at the back, in the least important area in the building. The arrangement on the ground floor follows the same keynote like the upper floors, where the user can visualize the public space and the green courtyard. The existent facade is in a good condition and only requires cleaning works. It is decided to keep it and only demolish the brick wall inside to set proper thermal insulation and also create a large viewpoint window at the end of the waiting room, as an element that express outside the distribution inside. 2014 Competition for Health Government Dept. El proyecto plantea una redistribución drástica para evitar confusión del usuario y aportar claridad en el uso del edificio como centro público. Dicha redistribución enfoca toda una sala dedicada a las esperas hacia las vistas próximas a la plaza y la serranía de Hellín. Para conseguir esto es preciso unas actuaciones estructurales previas que permitan desplazar el ascensor y la escalera y liberar una banda continua central de uso público, en el sentido longitudinal. Esta solución permite situar las consultas (10 por planta) en una banda paralela a la calle con una fachada claramente funcional. Las consultas se comunican entre ellas de manera flexible según las necesidades funcionales.

Tanto las escaleras de incendio como los aseos, se sitúan al fondo, en la parte más residual del edificio. La distribución en plata baja sigue la misma tónica que en plantas superiores, en donde el usuario puede visualizar con claridad todo el espacio público y patio arbolado. La fachada de piedra existente se encuentra en buenas condiciones, sólo requiere de labores de limpieza. Se decide mantenerla y demoler el trasdós interior pera mejorar el aislamiento y organizar un mirador al final de la sala de espera, como hito que expresa exteriormente la reorganización exterior. SUBSIDIZED HOUSING VIVIENDAS SOCIALES The plot is located on the outskirts of Almeria urban area, placed between a closed-block area and detached-residential-buildings. It forms a rectangle, with an area of 2,000 m2 and a steep slope up to 7% to the its Southern direction.

Programme of the competition: Projecting 34 subsidized apartments + 1 accessible (with parking spaces and storage rooms) with the most similarity with each other. With 3 bedrooms, an usable surface under 80 m2 and a maximum ratio of 1.24 m2 (built/usable surface) Establishment proposal: A solution which contributes to every apartment has two exterior facades. Making the insertion lightened allows to connect visually the street with the rear green area and with far views, of which every apartment participates (1), and also it makes a serrated silhouette that gives an identity to the ensemble as a singularity between the organic nature of the “city-garden typology“ and the massive edification in the “closed-block“. Architectural solution: (3) 1. Dividing the plot in 3 equal units. 2. Make 3 semi-digs in wedge-shaped, in order to get three steppedsemi-basements according tho the slope, with natural ventilation. 3. Placing, floating over these digs 3 blocks with 3 floors (ground floor+2) 1.25 of height over the street level, with pedestrian accesses in the upper parts by 3 perpendicular interior gardened streets. Se trata de una parcela situada a las afueras de Almería, a caballo entre una zona de edificación de manzana cerrada y edificación aislada. Conforma un rectángulo de aproximadamente 80x25m, con una superficie de 2.000 m2 y una fuerte pendiente de hasta el 7%. dirección sur.

Programa del concurso: Proyectar 34 VPO + 1 VPO accesible (con garajes y trasteros) con una máxima similitud entre ellas. Con 3 dormitorios, menor de 80 m2 útiles y con un ratio máximo de 1,24 m2 total construido sobre útil. Propuesta de implantación: Una solución que propicie que todas las viviendas tengan dos fachadas exteriores, ya sea a las fachadas de la parcela o a las calles interiores arboladas.

Aligerar la masa de la implantación permite conectar visualmente la calle rodada con la zona verde y con las vistas lejanas al paisaje, de las que participan todas las viviendas (1), y además crear un perfil dentado que le aporta una identidad al conjunto como singularidad entre el carácter orgánico de la “ciudad jardín” y el masivo de la edificación en “manzana cerrada “. THE APARTMENT T YPOLOGY VIVIENDA TIPO
The arrangement of the apartment is planed from a continuous space of relation, head to the terrace, what enlarges towards the light and the outdoor views. There is a nucleus that contains the bathrooms placed across the aforementioned space, creating a loop circulation, where are the access to the closed pieces of bedrooms and kitchen. La distribución de la vivienda está planteada a partir de un espacio de relación continuo, abocada a la terraza, lo que expande el interior de la vivienda hacia la luz y las vistas exteriores. Dicho espacio está atravesado por el núcleo interior de los baños, creando una circulación en bucle desde donde se accede a las piezas cerradas de los dormitorios y la cocina.

Steel framing structure: starting at the ground floor con crete slab. The patented system obtains one of the best ratio resistance/weight compared to material systems, contributing to flexibility on design. Is also allows to integrate the structural system within the partitions and the facade, enhancing the energetic efficiency of the facades and the acoustic in the partitions and slabs, as well as to integrate the MEP system.
Estructura tipo “steel framing”: a partir del forjado de hormigón de planta baja. El sistema patentado consigue una de las mejores relaciones resistencia/peso en comparación con sistemas de materiales, aportando una gran flexibilidad al diseño. Permite a su vez integrar el sistema estructural en la tabiquería y cerramientos de tipo “seco”, mejorando la eficacia energética de los cerramientos y acústica de las tabiquerías y forjados, aparte de integrar las instalaciones sin necesidad de rozas.
