4. Our approach to marketing & advertising As you might have gathered, we operate slightly differently from other traditional media buying agencies. With a team that includes former media executives, we have the relationships, planning skills and tools to build high profile, impactful campaigns that get our clients in front of their customers, and noticed for all the right reasons.
A little bit different Our approach is unique. We don’t just book ‘off the shelf’ campaigns - instead we create bespoke media plans that are cohesive and precisely targeted. These packages of print, broadcast, outdoor, cinema, online and ambient media are tailored to produce the best possible results for our clients, and deliver exceptional return on investment.
Not just buying space! We know that media buying is about more than just buying media! It’s about using the space in the most effective way possible, ensuring that in the seconds available to capture a customer’s attention, we do. It is not just about the amount of space we secure, it’s about the content; it’s about the placement; it’s about the context; and for our clients, it’s about the added value we bring.
Partnership and ‘being on the inside’ We treat the media as partners rather than negotiating adversaries, assisted by the fact that a number of our team have ‘been on the inside’ of the media. As a result, we have great personal relationships with the key decision makers, giving us a clear understanding of where we can press for more!!

7. So, who will I be working with? From our designers to our MD, the whole team at Press Ahead is committed to the same goal delivering outstanding campaigns and projects that help our clients stand out from the crowd.
Kieron Goldsborough - the gaffer Formerly our Creative Director, Kieron recently led the management buy-out of Press Ahead, becoming MD in 2014. He has a wealth of business and entrepreneurial experience gained over 15 years of working in high pressure creative, media and agency environments. Previously, as Creative Director, he kept (and still does keep!!) a close eye on all design and print projects. Before joining Press Ahead in 2011, he spent over 10 years at ncjMedia and Gazette Media Company managing large teams of designers and coming up with a few half decent campaigns along the way! He is a good egg and likes to support up and coming design talent and as such is part of the Cleveland College of Art and Design professional liaison group. Kieron leads on several of our key clients, including social housing giants – Coast & Country and North Star Housing, along with Berghaus and Huntsman.
James Ealey - Mr Media Meticulous and diligent; James is the consummate professional. With a penchant for detail, he really loves a good spreadsheet and spends many an hour ensuring our client media projects run to military precision. Previously marketing manager at Ward Hadaway solicitors, he also spent several years in a similar role at Trinity Mirror North East. Well versed across the marketing communications spectrum, he especially enjoys; project/campaign management, media buying/negotiation, business planning, market research, budget and brand management.
Joanna Taylor - the queen of media planning and buying Prior to joining Press Ahead, Joanna spent her formative advertising years in some of the region’s top agencies, planning and buying for accounts such as Co-operative Food, Anglia Regional Co-op, Hilco, East of England Co-op, University of Sunderland and Sunderland Housing Group (now Gentoo). Joanna is a true “people person” and firmly believes that building relationships is the key to success in advertising, whether they be with clients, suppliers or colleagues. Her negotiation and organisational skills are renowned in the industry, and are combined with an honest, no-nonsense approach to both life and work.
Emma Jago - the media spreadsheet meister Emma joined Press Ahead in early 2014, as part of our continued growth and development. She has an extensive array of media buying, creative and production skills, gained from over 10 years experience with some of the region’s largest agencies. A knowledgeable advertising and marketing specialist, Emma believes the rapport and trust she has with her clients and suppliers is key when working to deliver projects both to time and budget. Her experience in the industry has seen Emma work on substantial creative and media buying accounts for the likes of Elddis, BSW Timber, NHS North East, South Tyneside College and Lakes College.
Lisa Nixon - our organiser Lisa is the person that keeps everything ticking at Press Ahead! With over twenty years’ experience working in the media and publishing industry, Lisa has a strong track record in project and events management, administration, campaign planning and marketing support. Having worked for major regional newspaper group, ncjMedia, as PA to the regional marketing director and later to the assistant managing director, as well as being PA to the general manager of Trinity Mirror Print in the North East, Lisa has built up vast experience in the marketing and media sector and is a key member of the Press Ahead team.
We have the perfect blend of strategic, creative, technical, writing and project management skills combined with experience and a commitment to what we do. All of our clients benefit from the different skill set each member of the Press Ahead team brings, which helps us exceed expectations. This is what makes us different - and what makes the difference for our clients.
