COURSE ABSTRACT Design Management-III

• To provide information on key issues facing designers from freelancing to the management of established design firms. It would provide information on how design management plays a role in the business environment and to equip students with the necessary skills and competencies needed to perform as a freelancer or an entrepreneur. • To help take the fear factor out of learning about thorny business realities to be able to implement innovative business models / plans and being successful in a fiercely competitive market scenario. • To empower the students to employ and explore the design management potential from the perspective of ‘Design of Business’. run / Business planning • How to promote yourself / Business • Business Ethics & Social responsibilities • How to structure projects for success / marketing / business proposal for funding • Making pitch to venture capitalists • Taking benefit of various government schemes Methodology Lecture/ presentations of various topics of relevance. Printing is something which has evolved from past and we have seen it from our childhood, and lot of crafts evolved around it. Printing has many forms in India and it is practiced in many ways and it differs from state to state, the change in techniques, motifs, colors, and composition. I as a Textile designer bring a range of Prints with a tint of traditional touch that can add to the range of our collection.

The project duration was planned for 2 weeks and the design charges including sampling co-ordination is 1000 /-INR per design for Mr. Padma Raj a minimum of 10 designs.

Objective The objective to create a create a business model of a design studio where I can deliver the prints to different printing units of Ahmedabad in a routed channel. Design Brief

BUSINESS IDEA

It is proposed to do a range of prints with Indian traditional motif and Modern contemporary touch for export market.

All travels and accommodation are included in the same payment. Payment Schedule An advance 50% of the total quoted fees to be given along with the project confirmation by account transfer and rest 50% of the total quoted fees to be transferred once the deliverables are handed over. Copyrights All the design and research conducted by designer’s remains with them, only the final prints rights are transferable to the client. The client can produce the products in bulk and gives 1% of the royalty to the designer’s quarterly for tenure of 3 years.

Scope of Work • Modern Contemporary design and its variation. • The study of rotary prints and creating variations of it. • The execution part of the color-ways and matching the standard of the market. • Marketing the prints via visiting clients in person. Methodology & Time Duration This project will be carried out in the following phases. Phase –1: Understanding the market and its limitations. Phase – 2: Market Research via visiting different brands. Phase – 3: Creating prints and matching the color standards. Phase – 4: Creating Variations and its colorways. Phase – 5: Client Approval.

All the rights are transferable to the client after 3 years and can be utilize by the client. The designers can use the research and product photo-shoot for the educational purposes.
