Competition Brief: Conceptualized by Cotton Council International (CCI) to educate and inspire young designers to work with cotton, Let’s Design has grown to become India’s premier design competition.

Entering its fifth season the competition aims to nurture young talent while igniting a passion for working with cotton in its many forms.

This season get inspired from one of the five fashion capitals in the world and interpret the essence of that city in the most iconic fabric COTTON !

L O N D ON C I R C U S A N G E L S Concept note: The concept is derived from London Fashion capital, and is highly inspired from the colors and activities of Circus at London.

The Collection is talking about the movements and joy part of the circus.

The theme for this collection is ‘Circus Angels’,which is talking about the angels, and they have come to enjoy the circus and become the part of the circus and enjoying themselves with the Circus elements.

The colors are inspired from the major colors used in the circus.

The fabrics for making this design is cotton with a blend of Lycra in knits and woven fabric.

FINAL FIVE DESIGNERS ADVANCE IN “LET’S DESIGN” CONTEST WITH INNOVATIVE COTTON FASHIONS Cotton Council International and Fashion Design Council of India announce Vimal Abinash, Sanya Mukesh Jain, Gurman Singh Chawla, Padmaraj Keshri and Harjosh Singh Gioraya will progress to final round of “Let’s Design” from Delhi regional eliminations Delhi, 28th January 2013, Taj Vivanta : Cotton Council International (CCI), in association with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), congratulates Vimal Abinash, Sanya Mukesh Jain, Gurman Singh Chawla, Padmaraj Keshri and Harjosh Singh Gioraya on their advancement to the final round of the televised “Let’s Design” fashion design competition. Selected from over 2,000 entries, these aspiring designers will join three young hopefuls selected in Kolkata and Mumbai last week. .

“The extremely high caliber of entries resulted in our decision to create an additional two spots in the reality house”, said Ms. Agnieszka Fijol, CCI’s program head of India. “The designs showed some great non-traditional applications, and cotton’s versatility as a fabric.”

Renowned designers Samant Chauhan and Nitin Bal Chauhan judged the entries and selected the regional winners.

"Cotton is more relevant now than ever. I firmly believe that in the age of synthetic fabrics and finishes innovation in cotton should be a priority. Kudos to Cotton Council International and Fashion Design Council of India for promoting this cause among the youth of this cotton country," said Nitin Bal Chauhan "I prefer working with natural fibers. I love the possibilities that cotton offers, and the creativity shown today has been a real eye opener for me. With so many variations of cotton, I strongly feel that there is tremendous scope in this fabric. It is not only comfortable to wear but can also become inviting via innovation," added Samant Chauhan .

The twelve candidates from around India will be invited to Delhi, where they will face a series of design challenges that test their creative and technical skills. A panel of fashion industry experts will judge each challenge, with one or more designers eliminated in each round. The winner will receive 1 million rupees and the chance to present at Spring/Summer 14 Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.

Mr. Sunil Sethi, President of FDCI, noted that “having a regional round in every metro ensures that we get a good pool of entries from across the country, which in turn will help us in finding truly the best that India has to offer in terms of design talent.”

This pan-India initiative gives aspiring designers an opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity with the country’s most important textile fiber and the backbone of Indian fashion – cotton. “Let’s Design” has also been instrumental in creating panIndia consumer awareness about cotton, with season five generating visibility of over 400 million people in India.

“It’s exciting to see such innovation in cotton, and I think we can expect some great creativity in the final rounds of ‘Let’s Design,’” added Mr. Sachit Bhatia, CCI representative in India and judge.
