arTTiles arttiles.dk arTTiles is based in Copenhagen. It is a project undertaken by Trine Galschiøt og Anette Nørmark, who share the studio on a daily basis. arTTiles is expandable art composed of smaller white canvases, imaged in the style of old portuguise tiles and combined with modern icon such as chairs, lamps etc. All the tiles are made a mano and there the combination possibilities are endless. The works are as standard about 24by24 inches, but can be expanded both in height and width as desired. One is surprised by the vast possibllity to change the finished pieces. Costumers can - in coorperation with the artists - assemple there own personal piece . If you are low on ideas, the artists are happy to help assess the surroundings of the place you choose to hang the art piece. Both artists have previously put their love into creating large paintings, but have now fallen in love with the many stories and secrets their little tiles can reveal when joined in larger unities. ...Everything is possible. As the project evolves, Trine proves to be an inexiguishable source of ideas and the future holds no barres for arTTiles. However, the girls primarily aims to provide Danish homes with fantastic art mixed with design, that compells the viewer to dream of Old Portugal - and feel the sun in there face.....

CLINTON KIRKPATRICK PAINTINGS BY CLINTON KIRKPATRICK / CLINTONKIRKPATRICK.COM WORDS BY ADRIAN HARRIS / TALLDARKROAST.COM

Clinton Kirkpatrick is a young emerging painter who resides in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Kirkpatrick recently wrapped up “Imagine Reality,” which is an ode to the longstanding philosophic debate about who and what can be considered “real” and about how each of our realities in unique and everchanging. “What makes a reality? Does imagination become a reality because it has been conjured from the real, from me?” asks Kirkpatrick. “Feelings come through, my subconscious explored. I am wondering if it is real because I have made it? It is in front of you and now exists in the world we live in. So it must be a reality. My painting is different. It feels stronger and more in tune with who I am. The characters are still prevalent but they are something. Evolution. We evolve. I am evolving.” Kirkpatrick’s ode to evolution is both startling and enthralling. Moody and dark it’s a clear representation of what the artist feels is a slightly surreal existence. “My work is taking a more personal direction now which is actually helping me to focus on painting every time I enter my studio,” Kirkpatrick tells me from his Belfast studio, which he describes wryly as his “Sort of painting graveyard.” It’s an organized-messy place – that of a true artist. “Whether I feel happy or subdued, I have started paintings recently where, feeling slightly imbalanced, I am finding that those feelings are going directly into the works…creative in a whole new way for me.”
