Page 1

This is a front cover page for Q magazine from March 2012 selling for £3.99. Florence Welch features on the front cover. She’s the main focus of the edition with other artists being mentioned. Mast headThe mast head on this front page is the brand logo, ‘Q’. It symbolises the company and is an easy recognisable logo due to the short and snappiness of the one letter title. It stands out from the rest of the magazine because of the use of the bright red background compared to other colours used in the colour theme. It’s been placed in the top left hand corner of the front page which is a typical convention of music magazines. The main image has been placed underneath the main image of Florence Welch, therefore shows the importance of the brand. Underneath the ‘Q’ is a short slogan which reads ‘Discover great music’ which is used as anchorage for the logo to ensure the reader of what’s to comes.

Main cove lineThe main cover line is ‘I feel so alone’, a pull quote from the inside of the magazine, ‘Florence Women on the edge’. It is in white, the same as the majority of the other text on the front cover, and has been placed in the middle/right of the page at the top. It’s over the top of the image to stand out against the colour used in the image of her hair. Using the pull quote can give the reader a hint of an idea about what her feature article will be about. Main imageThe main image is of Florence Welch who is the editions main feature. The image is a head shot that uses direct eye contact to connect with the audience. She has heavy makeup on and is holding a stern facial expression to catch the audience’s attention. The colour of the eyeshadow, blue, matches a few other features of the article to show cohesion.
