IMAGINATION GO WILD TREND RESEARCH AND BRAND EXPANSION OPPORTUNITY
For the S/S 16 season, expand upon a brand of choice whether through a diffusion line, a new product category, or a new consumer market. Relate to an upcoming trend through research, and create concept for the collection. I found opportunity for Diane Von Furstenberg to introduce kids wear.
PIC OF PROCESS BOOK
IMAGINATION GO WILD
This S/S 16 collection will showcase prints designed by young artists. The watercolor presented on this page was done by a two year old named Ryan. This collection focuses on imagination and artistic freedom, as we need a creative outlet from our tech consumed life. Let creativity and fun take the wheel.
TREND
ARTISTIC REBIRTH
The 70’s housed a creative energy, as different elements (art, activity, and music) were pooled together in unpredictable, unforeseen ways. Today, fashion returns to the dynamics of this time. Creative, immersive, and interactive; it wants to appeal, intrigue and delight with designs that rejuvenates the senses. The art world provides multitudes of inspiration as colorful clashes allow for individual expression.
THE BRAND
The Diane Von Furstenberg brand kickstarted in 1972 with the monumetnal wrap dress. Her designs have spanned four generations and managed to stay true to her essence of making women feel beautiful. The lifestyle brand dominates in over 55 countries and now includes ready to wear, shoes, handbags, eyewear, swim, jewelry, home, and luggage.
OPPORTUNITY
EXPANSION Set to launch in S/S 16, DVF is debuting her kids wear line, appealing to the loyal DVF woman. She loves the timeless femininity, engaging print and silhouette selections that DVF offers. Now as a mother, she desires the same for her little one.

COLOR/PRINT
VIBRANT/GRAPHIC
Print and scale influence this collection. The color story correlates directly with the collections prints. Two prints are manipulated from watercolor paintings done by children. The scaling of the prints are transformed throughout the collection, using multiple print and colorways done in each piece. Along with the hand painted prints there are graphic elements.

COMMITMENT WITHOUT BORDERS Fueled by the shifting behaviors of consumers who are adapting to rapid changes in technology, work, and overall lifestyle. Expecting everything at their fingertips and in a tight package. The desire to live with a no strings attached mindset. Nothing is out of question or out of reach. A new rental mentality caters to the migratory lifestyle of consumers. Fast fashion takes the backseat as quality becomes apparent. A change in the amount we own, and the mindset behind purchasing. An Increasingly independent and mobile generation with limitless futures. Values, careers, and residences change with the blink of an eye; it’s time for our wardrobes to adapt.
RENT VS. BUY
The ultimate benefit of renting may arise from the flexibility of leaving for any reason, especially career reasons. Millennials tend to change jobs three times more often than their older counterparts and stay with the same employer for just three years on average.

CONFORMITY A COLLECTION INSPIRED BY THE 1950’S CULTURE OF DRESS
Discovered my grandmothers treasured photos of a dress she designed and constructed and later won first place for in the Ohio State Fair in 1952. This sparked my interest in the time period, and modernizing this decade of dress into a collection; Conformity.

AUTOGRAPHS A CURATED COLLECTION OF SUNGLASSES FOR THE MILLENNIAL WOMAN
As part of a collaborative studio, Autographs is a sunglass line for Vogue Eyewear created for millennial women. The team consisted of one graphic designer, two industrial designers, and two fashion designers an collaborated with Luxotticas product development, marketing, and design teams. The goal was to create a line of sunglasses that would attract millennial women to the Vogue Eyewear brand, along with a comprehensive 360 marketing plan.
A collection that speaks to millennial women on an individual level
Through research we discovered that millennials want to be seen as individuals, not as a mass. They speak up for what they believe in, and accept different ways of life and are accustom to cultural and social diversity. That got us thinking back to the sixties, seeing a strong connection between that generation, and now. Therefore we chose three sixties icons to direct our designs, marketing, and branding messages.
