Adobe Illustrator was used to recreate a replica of the picture of a poison dart frog. In the self portrait piece I took a photo of myself and used Illustrator effects to create the piece.

On the left, using learned techniques, details in wood, stone, and ground covering were added to a blank site plan. Afterward I added color with colored pencils, markers, and chalk to enhance the details. In the center is a presentation of data from the Central Business District of Cincinnati. The area was surveyed through GIS, historical analysis, demographic analysis, and land use analysis. The presentation to the right is a project proposal for the area based on the analysis. Proposed was to add a Whole Foods market where vacant buildings existed because there is no access to a grocery store in the area.

mberley Village, incinnati, Ohio

In Amberley Village, OH there is an old golf course called Amberley Green. A historical time line was made in Adobe Illustrator to show land’s pervious history before becoming vacant. After continued analysis a site plan was created and divided into smaller pieces to showcase different areas of the site design. A poster about the community gardens was crated in Illustrator and showcased hand drawings and SketchUp.

ower Price Hill incinnati, Ohio

Focusing on the neighborhood of Lower Price Hill, an analysis of the area including historical. demographic, and visual aspects were conducted. From there the focus was set on a brownfield in an industrial area. Once the focus area was defined a development plan proposing an industrial park be implemented was created.

C

ovington, KY

The Covington area was broken down into individual sections consisting of several blocks. Within the selection a SWOT Analysis was conducted to determine the areas strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Next demographic research of the entire Covington area was conducted. The unemployment rates in the area had inclined since the downfall of the economy, but in 2011 had began to fall. The city’s highest crime rates were in burglary and larceny. Graph using icons were created to increase visual understanding of the demographic data.

The project focus was wayfinding and visual connections. Case studies were researched to better understand how these factors work in a city. A cultural trail program was proposed for the City of Covington. I created specific trail programs designed to visit key points in the city. The trail was a way to incorporate wayfinding and visual connections to the Covington proposal.

A non-profit in Cincinnati, Future Bloom’s mission is to encourage intercity safety by vacant property beautification. The main way this is accomplished is by painting vacant store fronts to look like there are doors and windows on the buildings. During the 2011 Great American Cleanup I lead a group of volunteers in painting abandoned buildings in Over the Rhine.

Before Design

The city of Cincinnati has a program called supercans where they provide large dumpsters to communities for a clean up. I created a design to paint on a super can to make it less of an eye sore while in the community. We has P&G volunteers help paint the cans. I was in charge of leading my group in painting the design I created.

arrison, OH

I created a variety of tools to assist the citizens with the permit process. A permit chart graphic to inform the citizens how the process works and a packet with information specific to each permit were among the documents. I also updated all existing permits and created new permits needed such as a fence permit. Demographic graphics were made to be put on the city’s website. Maps showing the allowed dimensions for separate zoning areas were created for a Board of Zoning Appeals presentation.

MCA Detailed Floorplan

A local architect, DA Brooks Architecture, asked me to create a detailed floor plan for addition to a local YMCA. The YMCA wanted an example of what the renovations would bring to display in the lobby for the members to view. The renovations included a karate room, a spinning room, and a general exercise room.
