o you ever long for the day that never seems to come? you know that day when what you love ultimately connects with how you’re able to sustain your life?
it’s so easy to feel bummed out when your 9-to-5 is just waiting aimlessly for another hour to pass on the clock. have you become an expert at cluttering up your time? what would you invest your life in if you weren’t concerned with the paycheck? what makes you smile? what make you feel energized? take time to pick some dandelions and paint your nose yellow, even if the only outcome is a yellow nose. how can you reconnect with your passions and engage them in a new way for the sake of the creative that you were divinely shaped to be? in what ways can your creative and your day-to-day collide? think of one thing today that will help you to unfold that blossom again even if it’s in a tiny way. because blossoms are the things your heart and mind take with you and in that blossom is the seed that your soul leaves behind.

ozark mountain country with a love for all things british (that would be me) and a british guy (that would be him).
philip charles buckley— even his name sounded so... well...you, know...british. the first time i got up guts to call him it was his birthday. so,

in the spirit of wanting to catch a guy’s attention, i did what any smart girl would do— accidentally call him at 2 a.m. because she failed to properly calculate the springfield, missouri to london, england time difference.
by the way, you know if you can call a person you’ve never talked to before at 2 in the morning and you end up quoting monty python sketches for over an hour that person is definitely your soulmate.
so 22 years ago he bought me a plane ticket, and I made him the very first batch of cornbread he ever ate.
two short years later i packed him up and moved him back ... to beverly...wait...just the hillbillies part. in these hills, the great melting pot of stereotypes about bad teeth, outrageous accents & meats covered in deep-fried batter just made then he took me on my very first sense. BEE r a n d o m. piece together two faves— past-times, careers, animals, feelings—be as creative as you want and smash them together into a new word, a new invention, maybe even a new emotion or feeling. looking for a new way to pass the time with your friends instead of watching movies or playing that same bored game? take two bowls of random words and use those to create a new word for your lexicon of language. embellish it in a
sparkly journal. then step it up by incorporating those “insider words” into your dialogue with each other. or even better make your own pintrest dictionary.
you’ll become a word-i-sizing, lettering logistics, alpha-bester. it’s a simple way to take the reality of meaning and pull it over upside downways and kick around all the beautiful nuiances of verbage. and in that loop to loop of letter fun is indeed a lovely little nook of discovery.

PET ON BOARD! my dad had a love for animals like I’ve never seen replicated in my lifetime—even the dead ones you never knew when dad said, “oh no there’s a little cat in the middle of the highway” if you’d be traveling with a new little ball of fluff or fresh road kill. it was usually the latter. he just couldn’t take the idea of these little fur babies getting hit once, let alone getting hit over and over again before their spirits made it to the heavenly gates.
spring twenty16 10
i used to picture them dad would always feel obliged to a few words before he dug in my mind as they say floated away from the final resting place ... their not quite “we didn’t know dead little bodies. mr. white sox but he “ouch, ouch... i really shouldn’t must have been a good kitty. now he have been chasing that bird is playing in his across the road. oh crud, here little sandbox in we go again...ouch...” as each tread mark buried its impression. the sky.” so the hazard lights came on as we slowed to the side of the road (heaven help us if dad threw the car into reverse on the highway and decided to drive backwards) and then he paused to strategical plan the body retrieval so as not to get flattened himself. dad pulled a plastic drop cloth out of the back of the station wagon, and I think some sort of stow-and-go shovel. once the animal as bagged, the solemn funeral procession back to the house began. depending on the freshness of the kill sometimes we were praying for no grocery stops along the route.
from gerbils sealed in parkay margarine tubs to our beloved dachshund laid to rest in a brand new industrial strength igloo cooler wrapped with in 50feet of hefty lawn and leaf bags and a roll of duct tape, we knew those little mummified bodies weren’t going anywhere. except at night when they would raise from the dead and creep into my bedroom with red glowing eyes...just waiting to avenge their death. i bet stephen king had a dad who buried flat animals in his backyard, too.

Nothing is so beautiful as Spring – When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush; Thrush’s eggs look little low heavens, and thrush Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing; The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their fling. What is all this juice and all this joy? A strain of the earth’s sweet being in the beginning In Eden garden. – Have, get, before it cloy, Before it cloud, Christ, lord, and sour with sinning, Innocent mind and Mayday in girl and boy, Most, O maid’s child, thy choice and worthy the winning.
