DECEMBER 20 I 8 LEADERSHIP MEETING
What's happening? 140 characters to describe the Learning/Leadership
q"' *The students, faculty, and staff of Thomas Jefferson Middle School continue to work hard each day to individualize the educational experience for aJI of our students to successfuJJy impart the knowledge, necessary to master all ST AAR objectives, through careful implementation of the activities specified in the Targeted Improvement Plan, designed to remedy identified areas of need. Our teachers collaborate in Professional Learning Communities, in which the results of benchmark assessments are discussed and strategies are developed to improve educational outcomes. Many TJ teachers have recently taken advantage of the wonderful opportunity to eam ESL certification, provided by the PAISD Multilingual Department. ESL certification provides skills which support instruction for English Learners, who make up a large portion ofour student body. Sheltered Instruction also benefits students, struggling to read, in much the same way it assists language learners. Last week our TJ representatives to the Superintendent's Advisory Council spoke well of academic pursuits at TJMS, demonstrating their understanding of improvements made to instruction in the form of new certifications achieved by our teachers.
In addition, the TJMS Academic Bowlteam came away victorious with a resounding victory over our crosstown competitors Lincoln Middle School. In addition to academics, Fine Arts has been showcased successfully in our Choir Winter concerl, where family members were treated to a selection of songs appropriate for the season. We are looking forward to more Fine Arts excellence on Dec. l Tth in our Winter Showcase, which will be performed at MHS. TJMS Athletics continues to have a great year with our basketball teams currently competing for the top spot in our UIL Basketball leagues. As we close the 2018 portion of the 2018- 2019 academic year, TJMS will continue to implement our Targeted Improvement Plan, assessing and adjusting our plan to provide the support necessary for ALL of our students to master STAAR objectives. Our organizational new years' resolution is to fulfill our vision of excellence, by providing each student with an individualized education plan, designed to address areas of need. We wish our fellow schools continued success in 2019!

Lakeview Elementary Christmas Season at Lakeview Elementary! We have so much to tweet about. We'd like for everyone to know that at Lakeview, we believe in celebrating the success of our students. They are always proud to know that the staff not only sees their achievement, but we are always ready to celebrate their successes, big or small. This month we celebrated our students who made the Character Education bulletin board with a cookie party and mini sock hop. The students who made the board were able to come to the cafeteria where they were served cookies and punch. After the snack, the music began and everyone had a ball listening and dancing to a variety of line dances.
