When did you decide that you wanted to be a chef? What was your inspiration?

When I was 18 years old, I was in a village far away from here, in Swat, I saw a chef there Himay and decided that i wanted to be a chef. At that time I was in Medical school. I left my studies and went to Dubai to study Hotel Management. I got my culinary training from there. Then I went to Malaysia for these special classes, learning about different wedding cakes and chocolates.

What are the items in your kitchen that you find the most important for designing a dessert or a chocolate?

I came back to Pakistan a few months back. It's really hard to find quality ingredients here like great vanilla pods etc. So i get most of the products from Dubai. I get the best chocolate called Valronha from there.

What are your plans? Do you want to 30

restrict yourself to chocolate or you want to go further?

I have very exciting plans to go further. I have started making 3D cakes. I make them with chocolate, butter cream.

Can you tell me about your chocolate making process?

Ans.It is a 2 day process. On the first day we make ganache. Then we let it rest for 24 hours.

The next day we melt the chocolate, cocoa butter and begin the tempering. It is a long process. This is a base for all chocolates. Then we add the toppings and give it all kinds of characters.

What is the ingredient that you think makes your chocolate different from the other chocolates being produced?

Ans. It's important to care about the target market. Pakistani people are fond of nuts. We use fruits for puree and nuts as people here like them more.

When did you start working with chocolates?

Ans. Before this I was an artist. I used inedible things for art. Now I use butter cream, food colors and everything edible to create art out of it. It's a new perspective.

Tell us about your cakes?

Ans. I started with chocolates. Now we makes cakes for birthdays, Eid and other events. This year for Eid, we used the seasonal fruits along with chocolate. We had the chocolate nutella cake and the chocolate fudge cake.

Do you make your cakes from scratch?

Ans. Yes. We make everything ourself. We make mango cheese cakes as we get quality mangoes in Pakistan. They turn out delicious everytime!

A pop of colour!

The mustard top combined with black jeans and Gucci heels, only needed that perky purple lip colour and gold ear cuffs to give off a vivacious aura.

With such funky cutwork sleeves, I decided to keep the look minimalistic with the classic torn jeans and white trainers. Ready for a day out with the girls!

Zuria Dor’s black top and their flowy white dhaka pants gave that perfect red carpet vibe. I added an ornate clutch and a bold lip colour to the mix to create that oomph factor.

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles!

Where did you choose to go and why?

We went to Phandar Valley and from there travelled to Shandur Top. Phandar has an aqua blue river and streams running through it as well as some huge mirroring lakes.

Plenty of green grass and a 360 degree view of surrounding mountains. Also, the route to Shandur is truly refreshing with extensive green pastures and wild horses. You get to see every colour in nature’s palette.

Who did you travel with?

My husband Fahim, he’s an ardent traveller and photographer.

Where did you stay?

PTDC motel at Phandar, it’s situated at the top of a hill so

What are the best shopping spots there?

Phandar is a small town and doesn’t have shopping spots but one should definitely buy their local honey that is available on roadsides.

Again, small town, no restaurants either but the fresh trout fish they catch from the river is delicious and you can get it cooked at PTDC. Tell us about the sights no one

Most telecom networks won’t work there which is a blessing if you’re planning on cutting off from the world. Although, you do have the good old Ptcl landline and the option of buying a sim that works in the northern areas.
