This customised top is exactly my style! I asked Sana to design a crop top that was fun and chic and i love what she came up with! The neon sequenced embroidery with the elegant blush pink combo was perfect to pair with silk formal tracks. I added the gold hoops, velvet choker and a top knot for the perfect fun night out look.

The draped dupatta look and the “bazuband detail makes it so perfect for a summer wedding! I choose to go with a smoky eye and nude lips with curls to complete the look.

d or W The L-

With all this talk about love, relationships and marriages, about whether it's real or whether it's just chemical reactions inside our brain, whether it's just a phase we go through or are they just stories for the books, movies and love songs. We all have our versions of why a certain someone wasn't "the one" or why a relationship just "didn't work out because it wasn't meant to be," Some of us even argue that it is impossible to stay in love with just one person for the rest of your life. There' s never just one reason or explanation for why break ups, divorces and separations happens but there are ways to prove whether you're simply in love or you're not. Paperazzi decided to dig a little deeper on this very cheesy topic that many are afraid to touch and researched some more to get to the bottom of this situation. Apparently no one can argue with facts, so here it is; we bring you 9 undeniable facts about the L-word which will leave you either wondering whether you've ever been in love or finally realising that it's true love that's been missing in your life all along.

1 2

Maybe not love, but LIKE at first sight definitely exists.

If you think having just one life partner is boring, don't blame it on your animalistic nature!

We humans often think of ourselves as a faithful species but we’re not the only one in the animal kingdom. Wolves, swans, gibbons, black vultures, albatrosses and even termites are just a few of those animals that find a mate for a lifetime. The most amazing part about that is, they do it but not because they are bound by marriage. 32

PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE

2016

If you want to make a good impression on someone, you’ve only got about 4 minutes to do it. The first 4 minutes of when you meet someone for the first time has far more to do with your body language, tone and speed of your voice rather than exactly what you say.

3

Two souls one heartbeat is not just for poetry and love songs.

Some extraordinary research has found that couples who are in love and bond in a romantic relationship synchronize their heart rates after gazing into each others’ eyes for three minutes.

4

"I think she's a 7." "Well so are you!"

You can be high on love!

Apparently, falling in love is much like taking a dose of cocaine, as both experiences affect the brain similarly and trigger a similar sensation of euphoria. Research found that falling in love produces several euphoria-inducing chemicals that stimulate 12 areas of the brain at the same time. So say no to drugs, just fall in love!

6

We are quick to judge and rate others based on looks but what we don't realise is how much our own matters too. Many psychological and social research indicates that there is a significant pattern in who people choose people to establish romantic relationships with. This pattern is explained by the Matching Hypothesis, which says that people are more attracted to those that they share a level of attractiveness with, or, in other words, are equally socially desirable. Even if successful couples differ in physical attractiveness, one of them usually compensates for it with other socially desirable qualities. Butterflies in the stomach are real.

7

Heartbreak is not just a metaphor.

Research has provided evidence that intense, traumatizing events, such as a break-up, divorce, loss of a loved one, physical separation from a loved one, or betrayal can cause real physical pains inthe area of one’s heart. This condition is called the Broken Heart Syndrome. Deep emotional distress triggers the brain to distribute certain chemicals that significantly weaken one’s heart, leading to strong chest pains and shortness of breath. The condition is often misdiagnosed as heart attack and tends to affect women more often.

When you fall for someone you probably won’t be able to avoid the butterflies flying, dancing and fooling around in your stomach. They’re caused by adrenaline, which floods your body during flight-or-fight response situations.

8

5

Cuddling/holding hands = natural painkillers.

Oxytocin, the so-called love or cuddle hormone, is produced during an embrace or cuddle. The hormone appears in the brain, and well other male and female body parts, and is thought to be involved in the bonding process. Research has found that a dose of oxytocin decreases headaches significantly, and for some it even makes the pain go away completely after 4 hours. We recommend trying a hug and cuddle medicine before jumping to chemicals and pills. It's not always rainbows and butterflies... But don't freak out!

9

Couples at the very beginning of a romantic relationship will be very different a year later. It is estimated that romantic love, which is linked with euphoria, dependence, sweaty palms, butterflies and alike, only lasts about a year. After that first year begins the so-called “committed love” stage so there's no need to be paranoid and assume that the romance is dying; just embrace this next step of your relationship. The transition is linked with elevated neurotrophin protein levels in newly formed couples. 2016

in the spotlight Paperazzi picks the brains of star yogi Aqil Amin of AQ Power Yoga, to find out all about his journey as a yogi. We find ourselves to be very impressed with his brand new state of the art studio at Zamzama Karachi and we absolutely love his responses to some never answered before questions that students are too afraid to ask their yoga teachers. To say the least, by the end of our chat session we were left inspired all over again to get right on our mats. How long have you been practicing yoga for?

I have been practicing yoga since 2008 and started teaching in 2009 that makes it 8 years of practice. Was starting yoga a spiritual decision or one based on improving shape and physical health?

I started yoga primarily to improve my health; reasons which included reducing the back pain and stress as well as shedding the extra pounds that I had put on that time. Tell us about your new studio and all that it has to offer.

Our AQ Fitness Center that has opened up at Zamzama is built on 10,000 sq ft which is one of the largest fitness places in the city today. We hold a variety of group classes including Power Yoga, AQ 30 day fix ( 5 week total body conditioning program ), Muay Thai and Kids Yoga, to cater to different preferences. We also offer "ladies only" as well as "mixed group" classes. We also have a gym with state of the art equipment and personal training sessions for those who prefer to work out on their own at a time that is convenient for them. We hope to add some other exciting classes and other features to make the center a place for not only working out but also relaxing, eating healthy etc so will be announcing that soon. You are one of the most recognised Yogis in town, how do you feel about the increase in the number of young instructors?

I think its great that the perception of yoga is changing rapidly in 44

PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE

2016

Pakistan and so many people both young and old are taking such an interest in its practice. Having said that, I believe teaching yoga, if done right takes, up physical, mental and emotional energy and those who are willing to give to that extent can consider teaching. As with any other 'teaching' discipline, it takes commitment and the right motivations to make an impact on your students. How good of a yogi do you think one needs to be before they start teaching?

I think you need to be a student of yoga having done many hours of training, understanding its philosophy and have a firm belief in its practice before you can even consider teaching it. If you lack the passion and commitment you cant do justice to yourself or your students. Its not sustainable. Teachers are AQPY are handpicked, go through gruelling training and observations before they are given a single class, and with their passion driving them they keep improving.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT Which do you prefer/enjoy more, practicing yoga as a student (or alone), or teaching it to students?

I love it all. I love practicing and often miss being a student so frequently and I LOVE teaching. This is a passion. Like I said, I never thought I would end up teaching yoga coming from a strong business family after moving back to Pakistan. Do you enjoy teaching beginners or do you only focus on advanced students?

I enjoy teaching, period! I tell my students no question is a stupid question. Teaching beginners has its own challenges and thrills as does teaching more advanced students.

Here are a few questions that we found yoga students are wondering about their teachers but have never ever asked them. We would love if you could help end their curiosity. What are your biggest peeves about yoga etiquette — or lack thereof? Late people? Cell phones? Basically, how do your students drive you crazy?

For me definitely cell phones and coming late to class. I feel it breaks the rhythm of the class and disrupts the teachers tempo and the students practice. Many a times I’ve just confiscated cell phones haha. Part of yoga is disciplining yourself and being on time is part of that discipline. Yoga students hear the same cues a lot. Sometimes they think they get it, sometimes they tune out and just do what they always do. Do you expect your students to ask if they don’t get what you mean?

Of Course! All the time! I love answering and I love all kinds of questions. Patience is the key and educating people and

helping them reach their goals is what we do, if we dont allow questions the learning wont happen. In fact I feel many a times I grow from answering my students' questions. How do you feel about adjusting people? If they are sweaty during class, is it gross?

Not at all. I'm used to it. By the time class ends I need to run and take a shower. Do you judge people for not being able to do poses?

Not at all because that’s not what yoga is all about. I tell my students to do what they can and let their body tell them when they are ready for more. It isnt a competition, everyone body is different. I'm there to help not to judge. When you see the same student doing the same thing wrong over and over, is it annoying?

No. Why would that be annoying? People dont purposely do the poses incorrectly, so why the judgment? Yoga is all about learning. Some poses might take me 10 years to get to whereas you might get into it in a day. Like I said, I don’t judge my students. I tell them to commit and see the magic happen and in the process have fun with it. I've seen my students challenge themselves when they are ready! How would you advice a yoga student to tell the difference between pain and discomfort?

Discomfort is sometimes good, when you challenge yourself-its when your body is stretching its boundaries slowly and steadily. Pain is pain, its not comfortable, sustains and you'll just know that you have overdone it! And finally, what’s your advice for yoga students?

The same that I give to my own students, listen to your body, dont compete, have fun and connect with yourself, stay committed and watch what happens! 2016

planes, trains & automobiles

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our new section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you chose to go and why? I chose to visit Turkey this summer for my vacations. This was my second visit to Turkey and the reason I chose this place is because of its beauty and rich culture. I find Turkey to be modern yet traditional, which makes it more interesting. The two important things I enjoyed the most during my stay in Turkey are the beautiful historical places and the world famous Turkish cuisine. The Mediterranean climate and beautiful nature of the place makes a perfect combination for the tourist to visit Turkey in any season. Who did you travel with? I traveled with my sister.

travel diaries

Where did you stay? I stayed at The Marmara Taksim hotel in Istanbul, which is situated in the heart of the city, very close to the airport and the metro station. Apart from having the best deluxe rooms, their rest and relaxation facilities were amazing. They had a spa, massage room, Turkish bath, sauna and Jacuzzi. There is also a must try range of international dining options available at the hotel. What are the best shopping spots there? Grand Bazaar was my favorite hangout spot as it gives a very exciting and unique shopping experience to the travellers. It is one of the largest and oldest markets in Istanbul. You

Finally, any tips? Turkey is an exciting country and there is a lot to explore because of its rich history filled places, stunning landscapes and plenty of adventure for the traveller. I would advice the readers to dress more formally during their stay in Turkey as you will always see the local women dress so gracefully. Not forgetting the mosque etiquettes, don’t forget to carry your scarves with you while leaving the hotel. No trip to Turkey is complete without a visit to the famous baths (hammams). Experience a few hours at these bathhouses.

travel

What can you do over there to relax and unwind? Istanbul is famous for traditional massages and Hamams(Turkish Baths). During my stay I went there to relax. I found Hurrem Sultan to be the best hamam experience. It is one of the most beautifully constructed hamams in Istanbul.

Tell us about the sights no one should miss out on Istanbul is beautiful, no matter where you’re walking in the city. A few places to name would be Sultan Ahmed-Blue Mosque, Topkapi palace, Suleymaniye mosque, Istinye Park and Hagia Sophia museum.

travel diaries

Suggest some amazing restaurants there? Kitchenette, is a European style open air restaurant. It was situated right next to the hotel I was staying in and I usually went there for breakfast or an early lunch as I found their daytime ambiance very peaceful and relaxing. They offer good food with varieties of selection and their lamb steak is to die for.

Suggest places for a perfect night out The Reine Bar is the best place for a perfect night out. It’s expansive terrace offers dazzling views of the Bosphorus Bridge. The place is beautiful with exclusive lounges. Everything from food, sitting, view, lights, music and the elite crowd is just perfect.

travel diaries

can feel the essence of the rich culture of the city from this market’s colorful and chaotic ambiance. I also enjoyed shopping around at Istinye Park because of the variety you get to see there and its amazing interior. It has glass roofed interior sections with green central park, fashion district and street side shopping. It also has a market inspired by historical Turkish architecture, which is beautiful.

pearl jam Pearl jewellery has always been a favourite, but what we love even more is how pearls are being used on all kinds of desi wear! Whether it's embellished pants, pearly shirts or pearl accents, pearls have taken over this wedding season!

Hard to know how the great pioneers of the modern world felt after they accomplished something great, but on Monday you have an inkling. And your recent successes are only going to beget even more success, but not necessarily overnight. Tuesday and Wednesday, for example, you find yourself in an unlikely slump -- the problem is simply, once you've accomplished something great, where do you go from there? Overseas, maybe? Is a trip in order? Do something this weekend that will enable you to meet strangers -- if such strangers are of another culture, all the better.

Strong as your opinions are, you're smart enough to be receptive to new ideas. A new idea comes your way on Monday and totally flattens you -- in a terrific way. It changes everything. It's not every day that this happens, and it won't happen again for a while. Tuesday and Wednesday have nothing new to offer you (career worries are on your mind), and Thursday is spent in the company of people very familiar to you (good friends, maybe some coworkers). This weekend, take the initiative in a group situation and everyone will be thrilled to follow your lead.

If you were running the lemonade stand all by yourself, you could set all the prices; but you're in this thing with someone else, and maintaining this relationship is just as important as making money. Tuesday and Wednesday you and you-know-who are more in tune with one another, and this may be a result of your willingness to be chill. Try to be chill on Thursday and Friday too -- they will be hectic days and you'll feel like hurrying, but that will only rattle you. Responding in emotional ways on Saturday won't solve much. Practice poise this week.

It's wonderful to be loyal, but there's a difference between being loyal and being clingy -- and it's a crucial difference on Monday. Be inventive about your solutions to the problems at hand. If there are any financial dealings at issue on Tuesday or Wednesday, it's best to table them for the time being. Thursday through Saturday you should be bold about placing yourself in the path of people who know more than you do, and then do your best impression of a sponge. Contrary to what they always say about ignorance and bliss, you love to learn. You also love an opportunity to be an expert -- this comes Sunday.

It's far more generous of you to offer what you would do if you were in you-knowwho's shoes than to offer a critique of said shoes -- anyone can be a critic. Also, what you say is just as important as how you say it. The details of this person's situation are certainly more complicated than you realize, and coming on too strong will only diminish your position from where you can dispense advice (and it is certainly a position you enjoy). As for dispensations of other kinds, money is tight at the end of the week, so don't go driving down the highway throwing dollar bills out the window.

Enough with the standard fare, you need something fresh and new. Monday's fun will come from an unlikely source -- an acquaintance you haven't invested much time in, a band you've never heard before, a book you've always meant to read. Tuesday and Wednesday have you maxed out and with little time for experimental pursuits, but Thursday and Friday offer plenty of social time -- that means plenty of time to scoot a chair up to someone you barely know and do something about that. Romance and flirtation also figure strongly on Thursday and Friday -- and Saturday, too -- and Sunday is pure magic.

A radical change is on the horizon in your home life. You shouldn't regard this the same way you'd regard a storm on the horizon: Change is good, and this change will be great. Meanwhile, on Tuesday and Wednesday, your love life is great -- for whatever reason (perhaps you're in charge of designing the outings) you are drawing heavily on your imagination these days. You haven't felt so engaged in a while. Thursday and Friday find you avoiding conflict and staying fit, and Saturday is a fine time to start something. A project? A band? A nonprofit? Sunday is about you and you-know-who.

It's amazing when you notice -- when you can really see -- the effect you have on other people. You can see it on Monday, and this evidence of your inspiration in turn inspires you to go on being inspiring. You are part of a happy loop of good feeling. It makes sense that you may deliriously slip into a sort of mystical realm on Tuesday and Wednesday, what with all the vaunted impressions you have of yourself and the people around you. Thursday through Saturday are likewise marked by advanced ideas, thrilling discoveries and interpersonal electricity. Sunday, check up on a relative.

The pressure of everyone else's problems weighs on you on Monday. Yes, it's good of you to spend so much time concocting solutions for quandaries that have little to do with you, but some days you need to give yourself a break. To whatever extent possible, try to make all your problem-solving efforts on Tuesday and Wednesday related to your own problems -- and if you lack problems, well, hooray! Go to the movies! Unwind! Thursday through Saturday will wind you up again. They will puzzle you. Then again, you love puzzles. Sunday is about softness, poetry, a tasty dinner, stuff like that.

Connections come easily to you on Monday -- you're able to finish the sentences of perfect strangers. This says something about your chemistry with these people, but it is also an indication of alertness on your part. Some of this alertness will be obscured on Tuesday and Wednesday by the metaphorical turn your thoughts take -- the simplest anecdotes seem to have fable-like significance to you -- but on Thursday through Saturday, you aren't thinking abstractly at all. You're doing somersaults down slopes and throwing snowballs at someone with whom you're smitten. Sunday is quiet by comparison.

Your routine's starting to blend and blur and become sort of dull to you, but this is a routine that's treated you pretty well, all things considered. Monday sees you considering a change in style -- a different approach to the same game. This is wise. Tuesday and Wednesday find you flexing your creativity in more overtly inspired ways, and Thursday you draw on a resourceful solution to a family problem. Friday and Saturday, you'll continue to ponder the family situation, but an adventure on Sunday returns you happily to your personal priorities (your love life, for instance).
