The "Sauvage" collection was definitely one of the most awaited collections this year. The prints were vibrant, cuts were edgy and embellishments were on point. We love how they played with the symmetry of prints and solids, not missing out on their signature tailored crop tops and voluminous skirts. Our favourites were the belted half wrap and boxy top with beaded collar and neck.

fpw 2 0 1 5 . . .

zaheer abbas Starting with a powerful black and gold series, Abbas showcased another classic combination of red with gold embroidery and finished with an an all ivory with self coloured embellishments collection. The black velvet shalwar with intricate gold embroidery around the ankles paired with a shirt heavily embroidered around the shoulders was a treat to the eyes. This collection has touched all the right notes, colours and hemlines of the season.

sana safinaz

Not only did Sana Safinaz showcase a wide variety of prints, they also used them on a variety of fabrics. We loved their tailored blazers paired with bellbottoms and the two-piece velvet suits. This collection displayed a high level of technique, skill and craftsmanship. The super long jacket seen on Cybil Chowdhry stole our heart.

fpw 2 0 1 5 . . .

tena durrani

fpw 2 0 1 5 . . .

Tena Durrani showcased lighter colours and jewel tones as opposed to the predicted darker hues of the winter season. Her signature floral embroidery was seen throughout the collection. The colourful embellishments on the outfits truly represent a celebration of this festive season. The collection was flirty and feminine and we especially loved the concept of jacket over a sari.

FARAZ

fpw 2 0 1 5 . . .

faraz manan

Although Faraz Manan's collection wasn't completely new and an extension of his show in Dubai, we were still in love with what he brought to the ramp! His signature hues of gold was reflective throughout the collection. The hemlines were quite consistently knee length and the tea pink outfits were a refreshing change. We cannot wait to see his outfits from ramp to reality this wedding season as we predict he will be a very popular choice for many.

shehla c h ato o r fpw 2 0 1 5 . . .

Shehla celebrated her 20 years in the industry by showcasing a bridal collection this year. Her collection consisted of maroon embroidered lehngas, lehngas with leather weaves, and velvet shawls. The draped sleeves and dhoti shalwars were quite flattering! Her signature fringes and asymmetric cuts were evident throughout the collection. Chatoor truly gave us the traditional bridal embroideries on modern and trendy silhouettes.

NID

fpw 2 0 1 5 . . .

Heavy pearl embellishments, attention to detail and amazing crafstmanship best describe Nida Azwer's collection this year. It showcased both modern and traditional silhouettes! Her signature motifs and cutouts were seen throughout the collection alongside some new 3D embroidery techniques. The colours were kept soft and pastel paired with darker tones such as rouge and noir. We love!

fpw 2 0 1 5 . . .

fpw 2 0 1 5 . . .

One of the most powerful collections we have ever seen, Nilofer Shahid left the entire audience stunned. Starting with gorgeous drapes of earthy tones, the collection then showcased a series of jewel toned outfits. Her wellresearched and executed Rembrandt collection took us back to medieval royalty! The darker dramatic tones of her jackets and capes were absolutely breathtaking. The collection was absolutely dreamy and hit all the right notes in terms of embroidery, fabric, texture and tailoring.

planes, trains & automobiles

Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our new section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? Travel is my ultimate hobby, picking one place as a favorite is like asking a tubby child their favorite candy, but if i had to, my destination of choice is Jordan. It had been on my list of places for a while only cause of the notable history (Roman, Greek, Ottoman, Islamic, and over all biblical). The ruins, forts, amphitheaters, churches, citadels, colonnades, and in fact entire cities have been preserved for centuries. Of the countless famous sights, there is, of course, the Dead Sea (which I absolutely had to cancel off my bucket list!). Imagine reclining on your couch reading a magazine, except here the couch is A SEA! Who did you travel with? My cousin, my friend in Germany, and I made the plan initially! Unfortunately, my friend’s visa never came. So very last minute,

travel diaries

among thoughts of cancelling, my cousin and I decided to go. Being such, we had no bookings, no plan, no itinerary; we literally just landed in Amman. From there on it was madness as we were planning and booking on a day-to-day basis. We’d never travelled together before and although we made great companions there were things to be learnt. Where did you stay? One of the best hotels we stayed at was the Movenpick in Petra. It was superb. It was perfect for families too. Location couldn’t get more ideal, it’s right at the entrance of the famed archeological site of Petra and on the other side one can see the entire city on the hill lit up at night. What are the best shopping spots there?

What can you do over there to relax and unwind? I highly recommend the Dead Sea Spa Hotel, it’s a beautiful resort with a great spa, good food, 3 different pools, and best of all it’s got private access to the Dead Sea just meters away where you can take your time floating around! Finally, any tips? Petra by night is a something most people miss out. It’s a gorgeous 2 km walk through the Siq upto the Treasury where it’s all lit up by eighteen thousand candles. Most hotels and tourist spots you won’t have a language problem. But once on the street, with local venders, shop attendants, waiters etc, be prepared for some sign language skills. Once you leave the hotel ask them to write the name of the hotel and directions in Arabic for you to show to a taxi driver in order to bring you back as they will not understand just the name of the hotel! Jordan is incredibly safe, even for girls traveling alone. People are very friendly and helpful. To be able to see everything, one needs to be in Jordan at least 5-7 days! Happy Travels!

Tell us about the sights no one should miss out 1. Camping in Wadi Rum! Book yourself a one night say in the red desert and live Bedouin style. It was a superb experience. Best part the outdoor sofas and cushions to relax on while having green tea, sheesha and just lying in the desert under the open sky and star gazing. All this after a lavish traditional dinner of a meal called Zarb. This is meat, chicken, veggies and rice which is cooked, underground, inside the sand for up to 6 hours. Hint: the tents themselves are really lavish, equipped with bathrooms, showers, even electrical sockets. More like Glamping. (glamorous camping) 2. Jeresh. Known as Pompeii of the East! A long colonnaded street of Greco-Roman remains. Hadrians Arch, a temple dedicated to Zeus, two theaters and a nearly oval forum. If you get

Suggest places for a perfect night out. Well, perfect is a relative term obviously but for us Abdoun Circle in Amman was a very fun and happening place to hang out in the evening. It is a roundabout where people were all around us, surrounded by restaurants, bars, sheesha bars and coffee shops. It was very brightly lit and definitely full of activity and life. The music and sounds makes you feel like you can never get enough.

travel diaries

Suggest some amazing restaurants there? Fakh el Din is a must try! Fancy and upscale Lebanese cuisine. I suggest it for dinner (make your reservations). Hashem is another one. However, this is a public place, always crowded, because it’s famous for being frequented by the local celebrities, politicians, and I think some members of the royal family as well. Great for local street food. Try the Mansef and Knafeh here. Mostly I would suggest that everyone try the Arabic cuisine. The vast amount of starters, stuffed meat balls, variations of samosa’s, hummas with meat, kabab’s, shawarma’s, falafels, and the lamb were all mouthwatering!

the time, this city is worth a visit! 3. Snorkeling in Aqaba, Red Sea! Definitely a no miss either. The water is clear blue you can see till several meters below the surface. The near perfect soft coral incredibly rich in colours and full with all sort of marine life.

travel diaries

I personally am not one to shop in malls or high end commercial branded shops. On vacation I love to go to local markets and bazaars and pick up souvenirs and trinkets local to the area. In Amman that place was called Down Town District. Shopping for the Dead Sea Salt products is a MUST! All sorts of scrubs, massage lotions, creams, mud masks, all yummy products for hair and skin. Natural and genuine!

You’re an activator, an instigator, maybe even an agitator on Monday. Get stuff started! And — thank your lucky stars — you’re better than usual about following through around Tuesday and Wednesday. Add nice little details to your plans and convince a certain someone that your way’s the best way. Talk about lucky — if you’ve got love on your mind around Thursday (and you probably do), you’ve got a way with compliments and general wooing right on time. Just keep it sweet and light, and save the big questions and answers for later. This weekend brings pertinent emotional developments.

Approaching an issue with creativity gets much better results than going with the default option on Monday — it’s time well spent, not wasted. And while your best days for romance this week may be Tuesday and Wednesday (aren’t you charming!), your energy around Thursday isn’t too shabby either. Hint: Share how you’re feeling, but keep the plans short term. Let the heavy stuff take care of itself rather than getting ahead of you — all in good time! When the weekend comes, you just might have a revelation about how to handle a certain situation. Call it a gift from the stars.

You’re thinking so fast on Monday that you might really benefit from bouncing your ideas off somebody. Then, if information’s en route or a secret’s circulating around Tuesday and Wednesday, don’t get so caught up that you fail to look at things critically. Does it all add up? Is it worth getting all wound up about? Love’s in the air around Thursday. You can thank the stars later, as you ought to be busy making the most of your love interest through Friday (you’re still extra hot, and they know it). When the weekend comes, though, are you clinging to something or someone?

What happens when you’re even more emotional than usual? Find an outlet for it all, or you’ll find out the hard way on Monday. Kick your traditional side to the curb around Tuesday and Wednesday. Why? Because the more original you are in your thinking — and in what you choose to do — the better. Bonus: People will love it — and you. Around Thursday, be warned: Your efforts in the love department may go awry. The stars say to be very clear in conveying your feelings — or reschedule the romantic stuff for the weekend, when you’re hot stuff.

Fit in a little fun on Monday to get your week off to a good start — try lunch with a friend, a movie or an impromptu outing to somewhere new. Over the next couple of days, you’re likely to be entangled in work, and you may feel somewhat inflexible. Doing something to loosen up physically (yoga, anyone?) helps your whole being. And guess what? Your hopes and desires come into play around Thursday — and the stars favor a risk. Take a romantic idea and run with it! This weekend, if at first you don’t succeed, don’t just blindly try again: Heed your intuition about what to do next

Those around you may drive you nuts on Monday, but could it be that you’re expecting too much of them? Around Tuesday and Wednesday, the stars send an opportunity your way, but you’ll need to do your part, too. Seek out inspiration, make your world an interesting place and embrace existence. If you’ve got love on your mind around Thursday, you’ll already have the good karma going to take advantage. Just choose your words (or your flowers) with your customary care. When the weekend comes, you’re the one to organize something that everyone loves. Put it together and get mad props!

Your usual diplomacy may go right out the window on Monday — and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If saying what you mean and meaning what you say causes a ruckus, you can smooth it over around Tuesday and Wednesday. The benefits of laying it on the line can be long lasting. Around Thursday, here comes Cupid, and he isn’t stupid — expect (or create!) new developments in your love life now. How about sharing a deep feeling to get things going? When the weekend comes, though, you may want to keep to yourself. You’re cute when you’re shy.

You’re a bit accident-prone on Monday, so go slowly, be methodical, back your work up and keep track of your keys. You’re a force to be reckoned with around Tuesday and Wednesday — but can you acknowledge your sensitive side along with your strength? Forcefulness is fine if you can also see when to relent and when to be gentle. And while going out on a romantic limb may seem like the normal thing to do around Thursday, don’t get carried away. You’re far from normal (in a good way!), and your own timing and understanding of matters of the heart will be much better when the weekend comes.

Getting into a great groove ought to be easy on Monday, especially if you’re stretching your imagination’s wings. Find time to follow your nose to a discovery now. You’re all about drilling down, reading the fine print and finding out more around Tuesday and Wednesday. This detail-oriented side of you is unusual, so use it before you lose it! If you’re sending any romantic messages around Thursday, be sure you’re not overstating your case. The response may surprise you. This weekend, things are in flux. Can you go with the flow?

Anything out of your comfort zone or out of the blue is liable to throw you for a loop on Monday, but don’t freak out. Rather than sounding off, hit ‘save’ instead of ‘send,’ keep your head down and sleep on it. Tuesday and Wednesday bring some much-needed perspective and a way for you to push on through — and maybe even a little romantic action! Hand out the love notes and flowers — you’re hot right now. Around Thursday, you’ll still be warm; just keep it sweet and simple. With the weekend comes some ups and downs. Can you handle it? Yes, you can.

You have an urge to be free on Monday, but make sure you cancel plans instead of leaving people hanging — it’s only polite. Then past, present and future intersect in interesting ways on Tuesday and Wednesday. Where’s your head? How about your heart? It’s definitely time to live in the moment, to seize the day and embrace possibilities around Thursday — and the stars say the romantic sparks can really set things afire now. Your beauty plus your brains equals an awesome combination. When the weekend comes, though, get into a groove instead of going out on a limb.

Allow for changeable moods and evolving relationships on Monday. Letting go of an illusion and seeing things as they are makes room for some reality-based greatness. You’ll have energy to get it going, too, around Tuesday and Wednesday. Your romantic (not to mention work) instincts are amazing right now, so listen to them and just go with it. When Thursday comes, it’s inadvisable to have too many expectations or get too specific — just relax and you won’t be disappointed. You’re burning hot this weekend. Have your own celebration of love!
